Chris Collins: Michigan's "brand" is respected.

Submitted by Jasper on

According to Teddy Greenstein (Remember him?), Chris Collins and some of his team believe Michigan "got some calls" yesterday. I didn't see the game, so I have no comment.

Maybe he's having a hard time not seeing nearly ALL the calls go his team's way (as would have been the case sitting on the bench at Duke). :)

I'm not a basketball guy, but Robinson walked. That said, I don't see how you can pull a "night at the roxbury" on a guy and not commit a foul before you hip thrust him enough to make him walk, but that's none of my business.

I will forever love Rasheed for this. He would say this on occassion in post game interviews when defending a foul or a no-foul, "Ball don't lie." Even better, he would be known to sometimes mummble it to the FT shooter while he was at the line. And even better yet, on occassion he would yell it from the bench, loud enough for most of the arena to hear.

I'm 45 and coach high school kids. I say it all the time and it always makes me chuckle. On occassion I say it from the bench loud enough to be heard. It makes me happy. I'm probably not too stable.

Chris Collins is a DoucheBag. I couldn't stand his constant whining all game long.

College basketball refs did college basketball ref things (they sucked).  There were bad calls both ways.

He needs to get over it.

No, could not disagree more! The REFS need to improve. It really isn't that hard, I coach and officiate at the Varsity level. It blows my mind how many refs are just plain incompetent and really don't know the game. Either that, or the game is truly to fast and on too big of a stage for them. Go get those idiots Collins! I support you!

What are you disagreeing with? You seem to be arguing in ciircles. Perhaps to just make the point that you are a perfect referee?  Nobody here said the refs were great. The premise of the article is that Michigan got calls because they're Michigan and posters replied with there were bad calls both ways, college refs suck, etc.

Your reply is the game is too fast or settting too big which aligns with what posters are saying. and is wholly different than calling a gam based on a brand. But I did get that you are a perfect referee.

I like all of the writers on this site, its just posters with completely misguided perceptions that bother me. Lots of idiots out there who have small man syndrome that is oh so evident on the internet, its annoying. It completely ruins their ability to have a sports discussion without "egos".  Thats what happends when 85% of this board has never played a contact sport (no, LARPing doesnt count).

Unfounded hubris.....HA! Oh, its founded alright...

you are coming off as the insecure one.

Usually when you have to revert to your resume (of which I have no idea what you have actually done), then your argument is usually not that strong to begin with.

There are pllenty of brilliant writers on this site that have and have not played sports at the highest of levels, which includes the guys who write for the site.

I do not include you at all in this group. So maybe try writing some informative, educational, well thought out posts based on whatever sport you are an expert in before you go tossing things in that glass house of yours.

In that case how about a name, address, phone number, social security number, and bank account routing number? You know, just so we can verify that you played sports and aren't just some random dude masquerading as an expert.

I'll start a seperate thread with all my info.

Orrrrrr you could just believe me, its not like an uncommon thing to play sports, coach, or referee and I really didnt make an outrageous claim. Hahaha, see what I mean, inferiority complex all over the place. Did you ever play sports or coach? I promise I wont think you are lying if you respond to that question, they are extremely common things, you know.

How hard is it to take someone for their word. Pretty hard, I guess, when you have subconcious emotions making you view this blog with blinders on.

Have a nice day ya'll, GO BLUE!

It's just that I don't think it makes your opinions any more valuable. But I'll play your game. Yea, I played sports well enough to be the athlete of the year at my high school, turned down D2 and D3 college offers to play club soccer at Michigan, ref'd sports at the high school varsity level before having to stop to be a pediatric oncologist at one of the best hospitals in the world. You're right though, when I read your posts, they definitely make me feel inferior and not just in the athletic sense, it makes me rethink my entire life.

You're saying people aren't who or what they put on this board?

LOL. I'd put that figure at about 97% on this board of douche.

When I was younger, I had a hard time seeing referee calls objectively.  As I've gotten older, I do see a bit more clearly.

Referee calls are rarely one sided throughout the course of a game.  They're equal opportunity sucky.

As sports have gained in popularity and dollars, I can't understand why leagues and conferences haven't spent more on getting better referees.  Their performances are uneqivocally, across-the-board, unarguably and consistently (and probably redundantly) bad.

If a coach of a B1G team is going to imply or flat out say that another team was treated favorably by the referees because of who that school is, he should be suspended for behavior detrimental to the integrity of the game.

I'm pretty sure he never complimented any referee crews after getting the abundance of calls while he was a Duke.  Those assholes get more calls than anyone.

Spoiled prick.

Although Duke's old (Elton) Brand might be complaining about the refs not respecting him, since he came out of retirement to play again in the NBA last week.

Watch Yogi Ferrell today at noon. His famous two-step and then a hop is rarely called and is always a walk. Always. And he gets away with it.
