CC/META: Potential coaches' time tables and panicky comments.

Submitted by Madonna on
With regard to the negative, pessamistic, even panicky comments that already accuse Hackett of utter fuckwittery or condemn us to the depths of Schiano, I see no reason whatsoever to even be concerned at this point.  It is just an expectation of instant gratification, although I fully admit to feeling ansy.

The earliest name that would not literally make me cry, Whittingham, has a bowl game on the 20th (because Utah at 8-4 in a Power 5 conference apparently deserves to play on the same day as Western Michigan).   Speaking of WMU, their coach, whose name I can't even remember, is preferrable to Schiano or Addazio, but even he isn't available till the 20th either.

Otherwise Jim Harbaugh (28th), Jon Harbaugh (28th or later), Bob Stoops (29th), Les Miles (30th), Dan Mullen (31st), Jim Mora Jr. (Jan. 2nd) are not going to leave their team hanging to get however many, if any, recruiting days are allowed between now and after New Year's.

Les Miles' low-key denial, for example, is what I would expect from man who respects the university and fan base that have supported him for a decade, but is maybe leaving the door cracked for his alma mater.

Michigan is a marquee job, but that does not mean out new coach should leave in a disruptive and/or classless fashion like Bill Frieder (we got the sweetest revenge imaginable, but still) or Nick Saban both to and fro the NFL.  I would only wish that ugliness on OSU or ND.

Sorry if this attempt at an analytical, as opposed to a news item thread upsets people.  None of my friends, not even my guy friends, like college football enough to really talk abut it in depth, yet as I said above the coaching situation is distracting me just as much as many others here (and thus made me want to offer my opinion somewhere).

I would gladly take the down votes above if alum96 is right.

I was just focused on making a quality post at the time his went up (and though it was just more of the Andy Moeller stuff on that obscure site, which I did not trust).

I agree he is an unlikely prospect, but not "zero grip on reality" prospect which woulld be Gruden or Tont Dungy (ugh) territory.  Bacon certainly floated his name as a distinct possibility.

John has deep family connections to Michigan and I am guessing in his heart probably wishes he played for us under Bo (unless you believe he preferred to play for a MAC school).  Its not inconceivable he could want to be coach as a pretty stellar alternative to having been a player (and one more chance to show up Jim).

Thanks Midge. It's a bit more Vogue to talk about Harbaugh and the like these days, however. I'll Take a Bow though if our man comes here and answers our echoes that are almost Like a Prayer. Harbaugh would be like A Ray of Light if he decided to listen to the Music and hopefully his dad, though Papa Don't Preach, and turn to his real colors, True Blue and maize.

Apparently PJ Fleck, the WMU coach of which you speak, has been boning coeds left and right, and his wife just left him after the birth of his second child. Uninformed name throwing, FTW, I guess.

You know I keep thinking about the Les Miles rumor regarding Moeller's wife, and how the entire reason he has not been our coach since 2007 may come down to 'indescretion'. And then to make matters worse, the ultimate reason Urban is at OSU and not Florida still boils down to his co-ed related 'health issues'.
