root for Osu
Ohio leads Ferris, on a PP goal 92 seconds into the game.
I don't think our chances change very much between Ferris and OSU, but I would very much like to avoid Miami. So go... not Miami.
ohio has a free live video stream on their site for their game. miami vs FYS is for a fee.
I am watching the live stats for MSU/Miami, too.
FYS? Really?
is always FYS
Half the people on this site refer to them as FYS. Go check a hockey thread or the Children of Yost and Michigan Hockey Net twitter accounts and sites.
Get off your high horse.
Intelligent fandom is a virtue. "FYS" is the lowest common denominator, right up with people who drop things like "Suckeyes." It's RCMB-variety fare.
We're better than that.
But unlike scUM, Suckeyes, Spartina, etc this one was the result of the Kampfer mugging and is not just a 6th grade name someone thought sounded cool
That's wonderful. Maybe when they get out of the basement and earn respect back, they'll get their name.
Sorry but when major hockey blogs and the student section refers to them as FYS, I mean, it's pretty official isn't it?
Although it wouldn't surprise me if you have dismay for the term due to you having an issue or just pissed. off the Children of Yost. Seems they're pretty vocal about it on twitter. (This was from awhile back when things weren't going well and someone suggested Red being fired on here, hence the reference).
@WolverineDev and surprisingly enough, it's not from that whiny cockswab Bando. I'd rather be a couch in E.Lansing than see Red fired.
Leave it to the Children of Yost to use their Twitter feed to rip people from their own fanbase.
Honestly.
That's the problem with these "group" Twitter profiles. Every now and then some idiot will use the group account to air his personal beef with somebody
For me, it's an extension of the problem that the Yost student section shouldn't have a name or institutional framework that can be used to do stuff like this.
And the fact that the people who run this "Children of Yost" thing consistently show the maturity of twelve-year-olds is an unfortunate side effect. It's unbecoming to the University. The fact that the Athletic Department gives it any kind of legitimacy boggles my mind.
University doesn't officially recognize it as their student section.
If they did, you'd better believe they'd have official shirts made by adidas like the Maize Rage does.
They've got something better than shirts though-
Sorry if you've already posted on this before, but do you not like the idea of an organized student section? Or do you not like how the "Children of Yost" has acted at times?
My beef is that the Yost student section grew organically over the course of two decades by word of mouth. You bought tickets your freshman year, went to the first game, spent a few series learning the chants and what to do, and by the next year you were the one doing it. There wasn't a twitter feed, there weren't meetings, there wasn't a facebook group. You went to the games, you went out into the cold on Saturday nights, and came back to do it again next weekend, year after year after year. The magic was the lack of organization. No name, no hierarchy, no section trying to tell everyone else what to do. It was based on intelligence, wit, and some salty antics now and then.
The fact the actual people behind this Children of Yost thing are rather immature, and use this blog and other venues like Twitter and Facebook not just to act like children towards their opponents, but also towards their own fanbase, is proof positive why an institutional Yost student section is a bad thing. You don't need a name or a Facebook group to make an awesome flag.
Long story short, Yost was always awesome because there wasn't a face or a name on it. You couldn't point at any one person or group. It just -happened-, year after year after year. The magic was in the unspoken sustainability.
Dude let it go.
leave it to you to sit on your high horse judging others based on your arbitary view of a "Michigan Man."
bulldogs score to tie it at 1.
I have never seen them play in this small rink before...does it say wcha on the ice?
http://www.landgrantholyland.com/2013/3/15/4101670/ohio-state-hockey-os…
It's the OSU Ice Rink, taking one last lap around the toilet bowl along with the CCHA.
thanks
That tiny rink is where the Ohio State women's hockey team plays, so that could very well be the WCHA logo on the ice (the OSU women's team is a member of the WCHA).
2-1 Ferris.
If it's going to go like this, I can do without the FSU audio.
this series sounds just about over...
2-2 in Columbus, late 1st period
Due to scheduling conflicts this series is being played at the Ice Rink in Columbus which seats a total of 800 fans... Ohio FAIL!
"Gaffe" implies somebody made a mistake. It was not--this is OSU athletic policy. Value City Arena hosts, on consecutive weekends in March, the Ohio High School wrestling, girls basketball and boys basketball championships. Value City Arena is not available on any of those weekends, and so Ohio State has never played a CCHA playoff game in their own arena.
Ohio State cares more about their rifle and fencing teams than they care about their hockey team.

I'd be shocked if FYS came back down 2-0. Since we're the lowest seed still playing, we'd play Miami.
Bring it on. Beat Miami (Ohio)
I have a treat for tomorrow morning - full game of when Michigan last played Miami in the CCHA's at the Joe, on Youtube.
Free Video feed via Ohio Athletic department... If you feel like negging so be it but just sharing information for those who would like to watch.
reminds me of ACHA hockey. In fact, I've seen ACHA teams with better rinks
Not sure I understand what FYS stands for, can someone fill me in?
We call them FYS because of this and the resulting sentiments from the student section
Everytime I see that. I'm disappointed that a) our team appears to not fully see what happened and susbequently b) that there was not a bench clearing brawl where Tropp and Conboy where knocked the f out
I was going to ask the same thing...
when he was assulted at Yost, the students (myself included) did a perfect Fuck You State chant that was easily heard on tv
5 forwards out for MSU...interesting
as I type this a delayed penalty to Miami and a GOAL for MSU
delayed penalty to Miami must be served
MSU hit the post, might be reviewed at next stoppage
FYS scores and is down 2-1 in the second.
if State wants to win this thing, they better start scoring because its only a matter of time before the gongshow starts making up some of these calls
Does anyone have a link to this game? Audio or Video?
