CC: JH Update

Submitted by KC Wolve on
Jay Glazer tweeted that even if the Niners win the SB, JH won't be back. Now I know several other NFL teams will go after him, and this probably isn't even true, but at least UM may have a shot.

Sorry no linky. On phone and don't know how to do that anyway.

I said no way to Jim Harbaugh. He is too much of a jerk. Today, I would celebrate if his cat was our next coach. Think of all the cute kitten pictures next fall.

It's beyond pathetic. Do you even know what "long shot" means? There is no way in hell Harbaugh is uprooting his family from Palo Alto and moving to Michigan. Make that exponentially unlikely if Brandon is still around and stalking around Schembechler Hall and the UM film room with Doritos, cokes and Domino's. If I'm wrong I will eat a raw kitten.

Agreed. We really do need to stick to our core strength of eating citrus fruits when the unlikely happens, and it is far more humane so there is that. Actually, I would like to include hats...many people have said they would eat their hat if things like this happened. I think that would be an intriguing, if a bit disturbing YouTube video.

at least there is one other sane and rational poster in this thread. People need to grow up and realize that deluding themselves into making their fantasy reality. The reality is, is that Harbaugh isn't coming!!! It sucks and it would be nice if he did, but he's not. Move on. It's not even worth it calling him to gauge his interest because it's literally 0%. It'd be like wyoming state asking Saban what his interest in becoming their HC would be.

If Brandon landed JH is his job safe for good? Brandon is a businessman. He knows he needs something to turn this Athletic Department around. The image is awful for this program. If Brandon handles the hiring process he needs a home run. Fans do not want to walk into another blind project, at least I don't.We need a hire that brings the fan base together.

He's been asking for $8 million a year from the Niners and almost went to Celeveland. Make him a Saban type offer and see what happens. The man has ties to the school and can become a Bo like legend if he bring back the football program. In the end, he could always go back to the NFL in the future. But, there will never be another chance at coaching your alma mater especially at a time like this. Oh and I forgot , the players Hoke has recruited are a perfect fit for Harbaugh. In 2011, there was a lot of rebuilding to be done, now he can come in and win right away.

Ross's loyalty to Michigan isn't going to trump loyalty to his own interests?  Don't be so sure.  Donated a quarter of a billion dollars would suggests he puts Michigan's interests above his at least some of the time.  If making money was more important to him than Michigan's success, he would have kept all of that money in the bank.

Clearly the guy has a ton of interest in Michigan being successful in a lot of ways, and he helps that by doing the only thing he can - give money.  What if he could do something else?  Help get Michigan the HC they so badly need?  It wouldn't surprise me if he'd rather see Michigan get Harbaugh because he can always lure another big time coaching candidate to Miami if he needs to.  Michigan would have a harder time.

No doubt he won't be in SF. Would his wife really not support him? I don't buy that line.JH would be making a decision to follow in his mentors footsteps. I assume you'd want to come back home. Especially to save the program. if we have a third coach fail...just the thought makes one shudder.

I hate to say it, but either Harbaugh is a pipe dream. I can't think of a single example of a successful NFL coach leaving to take a college job. Jim especially will not rest until he has a Super Bowl ring like his brother.

No, but it's an indication that it's not likely to happen. Look, I'm not saying that it's not worth a shot. Any competent Michigan AD who is in the market for a football coach should immediately call both Harbaughs and gauge their interest. I'm just saying that we shouldn't view the possibility of a Harbaugh coming back here as anything but a longshot.
