CBS Detroit's Most Valuable Blogger Awards 2011
http://detroit.blogger.cbslocal.com/most-valuable-blogger/vote/sports/
Voting is open from now until September 9. People may vote once per day, and the most popular blog receives a $50 Amazon gift card. Nominations are MGoBlog, UMHoops, and a laundry list of Detroit-related sports blogs. Given the content on this blog regarding my favorite school and sports teams, it's really a no-brainer. Thanks to Jerry for finding this and posting it in the MGoShirt diary.
Now cue the Michigan bots to deliver Brian another wedding present!

I voted for MGoBlog. Hopefully the IT monkeys who set this poll up actually know what they're doing, unlike ESPN.
What does Brian intend to do with the $50 gift card?
August 19th, 2011 at 3:44 PM ^
they don't. Just tested some of those tricks used in the ESPN polls and they work just fine for this one too.
Cookies are too unreliable for polls... Should be tracking IP addresses or something, but I suppose that would cause other issues.
August 19th, 2011 at 3:46 PM ^
When will online pollsters learn!?
August 19th, 2011 at 3:52 PM ^
Yeah, IP tracking probably wouldn't go over well... They should only allow 1 vote per SSN!
August 19th, 2011 at 3:54 PM ^
That could easily be manipulated... They really should collect your SSN, name, and a working credit card number. Then they can store it all in an unsecured database.
That should work.
August 19th, 2011 at 3:58 PM ^
Perfect, as long as they also store the expiration date and security code from the credit cards. I hear that's what people usually use to game the system on online polls.

Sony?
August 19th, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
I feel like he gets this for free 99.
August 19th, 2011 at 5:46 PM ^
$50 at amazon can get you a 3 wolf moon tshirt and some zubaz pants.
August 19th, 2011 at 6:38 PM ^
You can get Zubaz pants while supporting Brian through the MGoStore!
August 19th, 2011 at 6:58 PM ^
let's keep the bots out of this one (unless necessary, of course). i think mgocommunity should be able to ensure an easy win.
August 19th, 2011 at 3:55 PM ^
I don't read all the blogs on that list, but I browse a few of them every now and then. MGoBlog is the best IMO because it gives the ability for fans to be incorporated at greater levels. MGoBoard is big, but lots of blogs have message boards. The diaries are great though and give everyone a shot at statistical analysis, evaluations, personal stories etc. Plus, there are a great deal of inside jokes here: Raback, BKFinest, Bolivia etc.
August 19th, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
I've tried a lot of other blogs, but I always come running Raback to MGoBlog.
August 19th, 2011 at 4:20 PM ^
I rarely read blogs, but when I do, I read MGoBlog.
August 19th, 2011 at 4:17 PM ^
I will vote for Brian and his blog. Not only is he the president he is also a member
August 19th, 2011 at 4:28 PM ^
The first time I see him post on the MGoBoard will be the first time. However, he does seem keenly aware about our thoughts on his hairstyle. I'm sure he slums around every once in a while to read the boards though...
August 19th, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
I've seen him comment here, but it is rather infrequent.
August 19th, 2011 at 4:56 PM ^
The man behind the curtain sees/knows all.......
August 19th, 2011 at 5:14 PM ^
I read a lot of the on topic threads but rarely post because it seems like if I'm writing something it should be for the front page. A lot of the argumentative posts are inspired by topics I see on the board.
August 19th, 2011 at 6:45 PM ^
Brain, could you bring back Haloscan? Like fer a day or summat?
August 19th, 2011 at 6:54 PM ^
I think we have added Yogi Berra to the distinguished list of MGO posters.
The first time I see him post on the MGoBoard will be the first time.
August 19th, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
Not to be Debbie Downer but I totally voted for Dylan and UMHoops.
August 19th, 2011 at 5:29 PM ^
UMHoops is a fantastic blog but I think MGoBlog gets the edge because of the wide variety of topics covered.
August 19th, 2011 at 5:32 PM ^
because, well it's awesome, but i am surprised to see that neither motor city bengals or bless you boys are on that list, both great blogs for the Tigers
August 19th, 2011 at 6:11 PM ^
I voted for MGoBlog, of course. My wife, being from Chicago, said she will cast her 50 votes later tonight.
August 19th, 2011 at 6:43 PM ^
This blog is the creme de la creme of college football blogs. No question.
August 19th, 2011 at 8:47 PM ^
in a thread!!! I'm FAMOUS!!!!
August 19th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
I wonder how they nominated the sites?
