My first thought on seeing this.
Second thought was how much it sucks that no other Big Ten is losing an active player to Team Canada (others are Big Ten alums playing in non-nhl pro leagues).

This has been the rumor for a few days. Worth noting that Johnson is rumored to be an alternate and teams are allowed to bring them to Beijing. So not out of the woods yet for him.

At first glance I thought one of the names was "Carbon Knight" and I was like wow, great name. Now I'm looking at it some more and I think it might say "Corban Knight". Bigger disappointment than if Harbaugh leaves, in my opinion.

Part of me hopes we get to keep Johnson for the stretch run but it is hard not to want someone to make the Olympics.

As a hockey nut, I was really looking forward to watching the Olympics this year after the NHL players didn’t get to play last go around. I watched the last time, but basically only to watch Datsyuk again.
Now I understand why they aren’t playing this year, but it still sucks as a viewer and all my excitement is gone. With all due respect to these guys including a few like Owen Power who still have bright futures ahead of them, an Olympic event isn’t the same for me when the best athletes aren’t actually competing. This is the equivalent of Canada’s K team. It’d be like getting excited to watch Phelps swim or Bolt run and then America/Jamaica being like, “sorry they can’t make it, but here’s our 15th best guys.”

In the article it mentions a training camp in Switzerland from 1/25 (today) until 2/1 so it seems like Power/Johnson are going to miss the Wisconsin series this weekend.
