Can Denard Match Juice?
Do you guys remember in 2008 when Juice Williams set a record for most total yards in Big House history at 431 passing/rushing yards? I thought I had drank it clear out of my brain, but alas, it's still there.
This got me thinking - this is a record that Denard should absolutely break (and the sooner the better). My question to you all is, when will this happen (team, year?) and what will the break down look like, approximately (run/pass). If you asked me at the end of last year, I would have said no unless he runs for 400 yards in a game, but now that he can throw to our guys, this is very doable.
Your thoughts, thanks.

Ohio State
2011
200 rushing
300 passing
UTTER DOMINATION
I think you meant 2010 against Ohio State in the Shoe. I will dream about that for months.
I had one a while ago where he gave me a piggy-back ride. He ran so fast we travelled back in time and fought dinosaurs together.
Damn, I should stop huffing glue.
Do you also eat cat food while you huffed glue?
I heard an ad today for cat food, and they mentioned that it contained taurine. Isn't that the chemical in Red Bull that makes your heart explode? Why do cats need that?
the cats were tired of feline lackadaisical all day. I'm sure the taurine would get them purrty active.
Gotta love a good Sunny reference. Very Nice
But that game won't be played at Michigan Stadium.
Bingo bango, Big House records must be broken at the Big House

I guess it really depends on him not only beating out Tate, but completely beating out Tate.
I don't think Denard could get the 400 yards against Massachusetts or Bowling Green, as the 2nd and 3rd string Quarterbacks are liable to get significant playing time (fingers crossed).
Maybe against Illinois would be his best chance, its a bit later in the year so he would have a chance to be the clear cut #1 guy (if its going to happen) and they don't have the solid defenses of the other teams. Also it would be fitting to do it against Juice's old team.
It wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't happen this year...especially with Tate competing for time and likely to get a lot of snaps.

I agree that it won't be against UMass or BGSU because he'd get pulled. I think it would be against a team like Illinois, or possibly Purdue the following year, a team with a bad defense, but that can score points as well, keeping the pressure on us to keep moving the ball. ND is another team I could see this happening against.
I don't see him getting pulled (unless god forbid Tate is already fighting injury by then). These two games will indeed be his best chances to hit 500.
Maybe he doesn't get pulled (even though Tate needed live snaps last year too, and both Sheridan and Cone had drives against DSU), but even if that's the case, I'd assume that we'd start handing the ball to a running back every play in the 4th quarter of those games if we're winning, and if Denard is really on pace to hit 450, we should be winning by a lot. I don't see either of those teams keeping the pressure on us to score.
is that last year, we were always one snap away from having zero ability to throw more than 5 yards down the field.
Not the case this year.

What?
If we are blowing teams out by that much and both Tate and Denard gets pulled do we see DG take the field? Coach Rod said he didn't want to burn his redshirt on a couple of plays.
Kennedy would come in
Yeah, I'd say that Kennedy comes in, or we keep Tate or Denard in and just hand the ball off.
I'd most like to see it against them out of the given choices just because of the general douchey nature of their coach.

Numbers like that just won't go to one kid in a two-quarterback system. At this point I think I'm fine with them sharing time, as long as we do that whole WINNING thing.

but, Bowling Green is a bowl team that knows how to score points on just about anyone. Besides, they are a helluva lot better than TURDLEDO!!!
Don't jump the gun buddy...

He could do it against UMass or Bowling Green, but the score will be out of hand and they will probably let Jack Kennedy come in to mop up (oh how I miss the coner). Maybe next year or the year after it could be done.

Not to be Buzz Killington or Debbie Downer, but I still have a nervous tick from watching us lose our last seven games against FBS competition (both good and bad).
Point is, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let's be happy to beat the teams we should beat and not assume that we're going to steamroll anybody. If 8-16 has taught me anything, it's not to assume that we should be anybody.
With that, please carry on with the regularly scheduled optimism.
I was premature in booking my Rose Bowl reservations for this year already?
I don't see a problem with that.

To start off the game, he'll have a pass play similar to that of the Spring game. What was that, 97 yards?
Right around 1:28
That would not bode well for our return game.

Sorry man, misery loves company.
Time to pick up a case of beer and hit the sofa.

Wrong Illini player. I am thinking more along the lines of Red Grange. 4 TD's in the first 12 minutes vs M in 1924. Let's give Denard his proper due:)

No offense to anyone (you especially, Juice), but when I think of Denard Robinson's potential/list of appropriate goals, I try to aim a little higher than Juice Williams.
but I would be perfectly happy if Denard turned into "Juice Williams against Michigan".
A million times, this. We made Juice look like a world-beating ninja that could, without assistance, stop a zombie apocalypse while blindfolded with a hand tied behind his back.
Good stuff.

The question should be "Can Juice match Denard?"
Denard actually ran so fast that he ended up in the back of the endzone in 2007 with 658 total yards in one game. So, in answer to your question, no I do not think Juice can match Denard's 658. I dont see Juice passing 431 anytime soon.
So, a sophomore Denard ran back in time to 2007 so that his eligibility would run out by 2010.
This is supposed to make me feel better, how???
Don't fear. Denard can out-run NCAA eligibility restrictions too. He'll still be playing for us when he's 29 winning his 10th straight Heisman.
Well, he had a redshirt year in 2008 (God knows he didn't play for that team), so he's got another season left, but he should be pretty polished by now. This team could use a stud senior QB.
... better, but it's going to take alot of work. Juice ran the zone read better than anyone else in college football. Just that little pause he had after he pulled the ball back from the tailback, was enough to confuse to defense. Can you imagine if denard learned how to do it like that?
Edit: Id like to see him be more like tyrod taylor than juice.
Won't.
I agree with the post above. Not really concerned about individual stats as long as they win.
I wouldn't be surprised if one of RR's QBs (maybe Gardner?) pulled it off at some point.
yeah it could, probably have to be a game similar to M vs NW in 2000. 54-51 NW victorious for you younger kids.
Henson threw for 312
Thomas rushed for 199
I'd prefer Denard not be compared to Juice.
[/me not getting the point]
... if he throws a bomb and catches it down field himself, does he get credited twice? In that case... game 1, UConn.
