calling out Bando Calrissian

Submitted by carlos spicywiener on

So Schlissel shows up (likely) without Brandon.

Brandon hasn't tweeted anything since September 30th. His sole public appearances have been the goofy series of interviews. There's a bye week coming up.

If you ask me, the tea leaves are in place. If there's a time for this to go down, it's early this week. No football game to distract attention from, it's relatively early in the season for hockey, basketball season hasn't started...

Raback it: Brandon gone by this time next week.

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. If you are looking to crush my hope, I have precious little of it left.

But what I do have are a very large set of mgopoints, mgopoints that I have acquired over a very long career of killing time on this site. MGoPoints that make me a nightmare for people like you.

If you are correct in your prediction regarding Dave Brandon, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you.

But if you aren't...

I will look for you, I will find you, and I will neg you.

I have a bottle of 2013 sauvignon blanc waiting for some kind of good M news, and I gave a bottle of the 2009 cabernet as a wedding present (in the wedding party for a couple of Buckeyes, I had to).

I don't even want to know what those three liter bottles will sell for. It seems like anything "Charles Woodson" doubles the price, and that's a souviner bottle for sure.

To add to Bando's point, why else would Schlissel be so intent in immersing himself in this University's banner sport than because he wants to properly acclimate himself for hiring a new AD?

Well, what have we here?

You have your MGoPoints. I have my cape, my city in the clouds, and one pissed off Sith Lord, er, Athletic Director sitting in my conference room ready to destroy me if I double cross him. I have a bad feeling about this.

WolvinLA2 posted this last week:

FYI - I don't want to start a whole thread on this, but I have it on good authority (guy who was both a captain and an assistant coach under Bo and who lives in Oakland County) that the regents are meeting tonight and it's most likely heads will roll as a result. I'm trying to get more details, but if anything happens the whole world will find out about the same time I do. We might not be waiting as long as we think. FWIW, the guy thinks DB for sure gets fired and Hoke is 50/50

Of all the calling outs that have ever been posted in this place, I dare say that this is one of the most well-thought out ones, and also a display of the best use of MGoSnark in a while, I would think. I just got to sitting down here after navigating both 403 and the Gardiner. I needed the chuckle.

in the post. About how I wa angry at Bando for even planting this possibility in my head.  Giving me some random hope. This was presented much better than I could have ever stated, though. Bravo to the OP and Bravo to Brando if this comes to fruition.

Maybe I'm just the last remaining member of the Flat Earth Society but I read Schlissel attendance at today's practice exactly the opposite of the popular crowd.  I think that Brandon, other athletes, the football team and the ex-players have all successfully changed the narrative from fans are pissed at Brandon and by extension the football coach to fans are pissed that the football team isnt winning.

In that scenerio the President showing up at practice, to show support for the beleagered squad that has been ABANDONDED by the fans, is exactly the story that Brandon and his minions have been so busy telling the past week or so.  Not that people are pissed off at DB but rather we are upset at the lack of wins by the football team only.  Hell - there are many posters on this board who repeatidly say that "if we were winning none of this would happen".

I fear the other side - the loyalists - are winning the battle inside Ann Arbor for the leadership of the athletic department and by extension, the team itself.

I'm afaid I agree with you.  "Afraid" because I would love to see Brandon gone.  But I just don't believe it is going to happen.  And I'm afraid for the future of the football team because of it.  We're looking for signs of hope because we want to believe.  But I think the opposite of what we want is what is actually happening.

As much as I'd like to read into it that DB is gone, I think the most "Michigan" thing (based on past performance) is to circle them up and defend the block M (as they see it).

I hope I'm wrong, but I still think (unless DB out-and-out quits, which would shock me) that DB will be here in 2015.

Schlissel seems to be the type that really wants academics to be before athletics, so I suspect that he's well aware of how angry the fans and alumni base are about everything and he's probably a touch annoyed he has to be so involved with athletics already.

I think Schlissel would love to never have to go to Newsterbaan to oversee football activities but there he is. Coupling this with Brandon's surprising twitter silence leads me to believe Brandon is on his way out
