Bruce Feldman's Opinion on The UConn Game and Going Forward

Submitted by MgoViper on

I'll stop short of saying that Robinson will transform a team that hasn't been to a bowl game in a couple of years into a BCS title contender this season. But he makes the Wolverines dangerous, and as long as he can stay healthy, they will be a handful for anyone in the Big Ten. -Feldman

It's so nice to hear optimism in the media for the Wolverines. I just wanted to share this tidbit with the Community. Feel free to share your thoughts on the matter.

dude chill about the kicking game...  Im assuming by your screen name that you probably weren't at the game.  The wind was so  brutal he would of had to kick literally the power of a 60 yard field goal to hit that first 43 yarder he missed.  The other missed extra point was a terrible hold and he had to rush it.  The wind gusts on the field were probably easily up to 40 mph

Agreed. That FG looked like it was on the money, but then hit an invisible brick wall. The wind was the thing I was the most nervous about leading up to the game. Thanks to Shoelace, Shaw, and Smith, the wind was not a big factor in the game.

It was just one game but Denard was just awesome, but the o line played very good. Are defense played good,if that happens we should be a top 25 team.

It's amazing that all of these schmucks in the media that were dogging us all offseason are jumping back on the bandwagon after one game.  Denard had a lot to do with the win but the Offensive line was incredible.  Zero holding or false start penalty's is almost unheard of these days.  The WR core was consistent all day and had some really nice blocks that led to big plays.  BCS is a lofty goal; however, if our defense continues to bend and not break, and we continue to not turn the football over anything is possible!! I love this team.  So much character and leadership.  Even the freshmen have a certain swagger about them.  Definitely going bowling this year fellas!!!

It was good to get some Feldman love.  And he is right.   They will give defences headaches all year.  I am still nervous about our defence, but Saturday's game was a small step in the righ direction.

Here is the next question, beyond the "How many games will we win this year meme," is "When is the soonest we can expect to be ranked in the top 25 this year?"

So does that mean there weren't penalties or that the refs weren't calling anything?

With the rush the D line was putting on UConn there was quite a few plays with O line arms around chests and necks, not to mention a roughing the passer call on Roh that didn't get called when he hit him about 2 steps after the throw.

Not saying the game wasn't well played, but 3 penalties for an entire game???

Sorry. That penalty was dumb. It negated a ~9 yd gain and gave us 1st and 14 deep in our own half.  Which wasn't a big deal b/c Denard ran for 20 yds on the next play, but it was still a pretty stupid and obvious personal foul.

but when I got home, I went nuts with the DVR going back and watching it multiple times.  The hit came after Denard was down, but before the whistle blew.  It was an unnecessarily intense hit on a player who wasn't really moving, but I'm sure he's heard 1000's of times (as every guy who's ever played football) to "play to the whistle." I felt a lot better about it after seeing that on the replay.

It is exciting to project the future of this team if Denard stays healthy- just want to invite everyone to not get ahead of ourselves.  It is one game.  GO BLUE!

He was one of the first people to get a quote from Rich Rod openly comparing Denard to Pat White.  So it's great to  hear he has high hopes for this season.  We need all the momentum we can get and Feldman knows his stuff so it gives us reason to think we'll really turn things around this season.
