Bring back the maize road pants

Submitted by Baffin on December 2nd, 2019 at 1:17 PM

I have no problem with Jim Harbaugh continuing to coach Michigan football for the foreseeable future. However, his failure to win the big road games means he has lost the right to dictate the color of our road pants. Simply put, it's time to bring back the maize pants.

I realize the white road pants are an obscure reference to one good Bo team from 50 years ago. Hey, I like cool one-off throwbacks as much as the next guy. Except instead of one-offs, apparently we are now Penn State, from a pants standpoint.

Personally I would prefer the maize pants.

Am I getting this correct?   Random internet poster decides it's OK for Harbaugh to continue coaching, but has simultaneously lost his right to determine road uniform pants colors?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I cannot wait for the off-season.   Multiple daily posts on best practices for canine anal gland expression will be a refreshing change.

The UM color scheme is Maize and Blue. NOT WHITE. Our home and away uniforms should be variations of those colors and those colors only. This allows for four combinations that should be enough to differentiate from any other team's color scheme. Blue/Maize, Maize/Blue, Maize/Maize and Blue/Blue all look amazing with the distinctive winged helmet.

White/White looks too much like PSU and White/Maize is meh at best (White/Blue would even look better for contrast).

One-off color scheme variations like the Nike Combat uniforms that may include white are acceptable.

Get rid of white as a regular uniform color.

I disagree but you raise an interesting point.  Who is more responsible for Saturday's debacle:  Lloyd Carr or white pants for our road uniforms?

Oh about that, just to clarify,

Harbaugh's strategy was to run that play the week before Ohio State, so that Ohio State would see the play, thus be ultra-alert and prepared to defend it, ensuring that it would not be open against Ohio State, further ensuring that the only impact having the play in the arsenal would be to make our extra-point team have additional shit to do to set up for one PAT, that the kicker missed because of it, while causing OSU not even a minor irritation of any kind because they were going to be on alert for the play anyway having just saw us run it, needlessly, the week before.  And all of this to secure no discernible advantage to our team of any kind, and in fact, only make the easiest play of the entire game harder for ourselves.

I just want to make sure that I understood the theory behind it.

Not entirely sure that Harbaugh has this whole "putting it on film" thing down yet.

Uh... yeah.  That is what I am saying, read the post.

It looked to me like Harbaugh seriously thought "oh shit I need to do something cool for the OSU game trickeration-gamesmanship thing" and truly did not understand how what he did made absolutely no sense at all.

We just got our asses handed to us by OSU again and yet, here you are worried about maize pants. Just shut the fuck up.

I'm of belief we should go back to the standard M/OSU number styles as OSU currently uses, like years past... Harbaugh's numbers with the slanted 4s and 1s and 7s are annoying and it looks lesser.... In fact, I'd like to see those mesh jerseys from 1997, that were part transparent and you could see the pads...

And yes, bring back the road yellow pants... our road record has been so poor that its only logical to return to tradition...

You could just say our old font instead of saying theirs.

Again, it’s never forward thinking. God forbid we change something with the uniforms like an all-Maize permanent alternate like every other team has here.

Yeah the color of the pants is why we can’t win big games on the road or beat osu in football.

It’s never forward with many people. It’s always backwards. Part of the problem.

well....  it wasn't a coincidence that the pistons franchise tanked, after they dumped their identity red/blue and went TEAL....   or.... when the rams won super bowl...the owner changes jerseys to muted dark blue and gold....and they tanked.....       it affects the identity, albiet small, but it does...especially when its coming from great success.....

The Pistons tanked after they went teal?

Averaged 29 wins per year and missed the playoffs for 3 straight years 92-95.

Won 46 games and made the playoffs as a 7 seed in 95/96, last year before the teal.

Won 54 games and made the playoffs as a 5 seed in 96/97, first year of teal.

Made the playoffs in 3/5 years wearing teal after missing the playoffs 3/4 years directly before the teal.

When we lose by 50 the next time we’ll at least look suave. Let me guess you want to retain Harbaugh too? Lol

This fan base is the most pathetic group of individuals I’ve ever come across. WD and RGard are the king and queen cunts of the lot. Ya’ll should get a STD and IQ test.
