Based on the two common opponents we've played (Rutgers and Nebraska), I'd say Michigan State makes a case for being a slightly higher ranked undefeated team than us. If nothing else, if Michigan's resume puts them above Ohio State, then MSU should be as well.

In any event, I'm with you that I'd rather head into East Lansing as road dogs -- which, well, we may very well anyway despite the polls.

This is exactly right. The only thing that matters is getting to the playoffs, and Michigan isn't getting to the playoffs without beating MSU, PSU, and OSU. Beat those teams (and win the other winnable games on the schedule) and Michigan's in. The rankings don't matter unless UM loses.

Yeah, just not that far to climb, despite a day of fascinating football. Still pipe dream stuff, but clearly in a position to make our own destiny, etc.

I was texting my friend last night stating that Cincinnati was the only team in America rooting for Bama to pull out the win.  Because they know damn well that a 1 loss Bama will get the nod for a playoff spot over them.

Given that scenario, that would most likely mean that a 1 loss Bama will beat the #1 team (Georgia) in the SEC championship game.  Meaning that UGA will most likely have only 1 loss.  So how do you keep them out?

Cincinnati needs mass chaos now to have any shot at making the CFP.

PS - I'm not saying it is the right decision, just noting that history and having a team reputation will play into who gets into the CFP.  An 8 to 12 team playoff can not get here soon enough.  The the teams play to determine the championship.

First of all - Michigan had to play Nebraska at night in Lincoln, and didn’t need OT to win. And we absolutely didn’t “struggle until halfway through the 4th quarter” against Rutgers. We dominated them in the first half and then just didn’t put them away. But to say we struggled most of that game is disingenuous.

Nice to hear a non fan observer thinks we are better than OSU.  I like Michigan's team chemistry and that they play as hard as they do.  Proud of this team.  Sparty not layin in the weeds this year.   Go Blue !

Texas A&M doesn't stink and is a good football team.  Many had them ranked preseason top 10 and it could be they're just now starting to put it together after a disappointing start.  They have a ton of talent on that team and I've always believed that the really good / playoff teams get better as the season progresses. You can see a handful of teams kicking it into gear as the season goes along. Not saying they're playoff caliber, but they're a solid football team and it showed last night

Am I missing something? Alabama had all of their players? They're not the team that had their starting Qb go down with injury on the road to a top 5 team? How are they 3? They should have lost to Florida and now they lost to TAMU. I don't think they should be behind us, but they should be behind PSU
