He doesn't have a voice for radio. But then again, that's all he might be able to do because who in the hell would hire him to be a head coach again. He proved he isn't fit to be one.

So what? Overall records don't tell the whole story. Harbaugh was barely above .500 at Stanford and he's respected. In face, Hoke had a better record at UM than Harbaugh had at Stanford (.607 vs .580) over almost the same amount of games (51 games for Hoke vs 50 games for Harbaugh). Of course, they were trending in opposite directions, but that just proves my point about overall records used as a metric for comparing coaches. Hoke has a solid record of improving programs at the MAC level. He'll coach again, and he'll do just fine.

Please don't compare Brady to Harbaugh....Harbaugh took over a squad that went 1-11 the year before and finished 12-1 four years later. Hoke, using the previous coaches players who had finished 7-5, and during a season OSU lost its head coach, pulled a rabbit out of his hat and gave us the Sugar Bowl. It promptly went to hell after that.....and turning around a MAC program vs. turning around a Power 5 team is NOT the same thing. It took Hoke FOUR YEARS to get Ball State to a 5-7 record. The same four years it took to get Stanford to from 1-11 to 12-1.

I'll be shocked if he is ever a head coach at an FBS program again.

Agree completely, in addition the talent level that JH had at Stanford was on paper much lower than what Hoke inherited and recruited.  JH was able to "coach up" the players as shown in yesterday's thread while Hoke turned players with excellent potential in a collective nothing.

Soon he will tell us that his kindergartner finger paintings look like works of art from Monet and Renior.

Dude, nobody is comparing them as coaches.  Merely saying that Harbaugh was a MUCH better coach than his record at Stanford, and thus overall record is deceiving.  You could even argue that Hoke was a WORSE coach at Michigan than his record (given the trajectory and that he inherited the talent that led to his best teams).

But you say yourself that Hoke "turned around a MAC program".  So why wouldn't another MAC or MAC-level program give him that same chance?  Those are still FBS schools, FYI.

You can think Hoke wasn't good enough at Michigan (which we all think) but it's an overreaction to think he won't get another shot.  Expect to be shocked, I guess.

By "Hoke will be fine" I mean that he will be hired again at the FBS level and be able to sustain his employment.  As for why, I'm with Blue Indy...to ignore the state of the program he took over at Ball State, and what he did with it is to agree with State fan who says Harbaugh has never won anything.

Now, again, Hoke is not good enough for Michigan.  But that's a high bar compared to very many programs out there.

I'd also like to note that it appears the post I replied to above has been deleted, so now this chain looks randomly placed.

And he was considered an offensive innovator.  So what he's doing in Arizona isn't a big surprise to most people.  Fun offense, unbearable to watch defense.  The spread can work, evidenced by what Oregon, OSU and Baylor did to Sparty's defense in space.  Even Bama incorporates some spread.

I don't know what Hoke has going for him outside of being a good D-Line coach.

I have to say, a media job just does not seem like the right fit for a guy like Brady Hoke. But I'm sure he has a lot of insight into different teams and programs, so hopefully it's interesting and goes well.  Good luck to him

WELLLLLLL.......John Madden was an A+ coach who commanded a serious amount of respect because he knew the ins and outs of his profession and reached the pinnacle of his sport so he could get away with that style of presentation. Look at the man's career for God's sakes:

This is not a fair comparison to make in any way shape or form.

He will coach again.  He is still making $125,000 a month from Michigan right now for the next 16 months, and I'm sure he will join a staff next season.

Also insert favorite headset joke.

Dear Lord. This is going to be interesting. I know it's EXTREMELY unlikely, but wouldn't it be great if he was fucking hilarious? I'm imagining him taking on this crazy shock jock persona. Sound effects everywhere, catchphrases galore...

Sadly I know it'll likely be him saying um a lot. A guy can hope, though.

I drive a lot of rental cars for work and usually get SiriusXM. College Sports Nation is pretty good if you don't mind the SEC homers who call in by the droves. I'm interested in hearing how Hoke deals with them.

I couldn't stand his ND love and the callers on the Pac-12's jock.  The only time the B1G was brought up, it was either OSU is going to breeze through the schedule or the B1G West is the weakest division in football.  Only reason I listened was because Finebaum was the only other option.

The SEC homers are unbearable and they really overplay the Michigan St. is disrespected meme even though everyone I hear on that channel praises them to the heavens.  I enjoy the channel for the most part, but am ready for the season to start so they can stop talking in hypotheticals.
