Michigan football uniform combination for Bowling Green

Michigan sophomore defensive tackle Mason Graham told TheWolverine.com Tuesday evening that the Wolverines will wear blue pants for Saturday night’s game against Bowling Green. The team practiced with blue bottoms Tuesday.

Michigan has gone with its classic look — blue tops and maize pants — each of the first two games. The Wolverines wore blue pants in three of eight home games a season ago — against Penn State, Michigan State and Nebraska. They also went with the look in a Big Ten championship game win over Purdue.

Michigan is 11-1 all time with blue pants, including a perfect 7-0 mark at home. The lone loss came against Georgia in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Orange Bowl in 2021.

Michigan and Bowling Green will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET, marking the Wolverines’ 14th-ever home night game. The program is 11-2 in primetime games at The Big House.

Blue pants check

2021: Washington, Wisconsin, Maryland, Ohio State, Iowa, Georgia

2022: Iowa, Penn State, MSU, Nebraska, Purdue

Other than the Georgia CFP, Michigan has won and covered the spread in every game. Michigan -40.5 is a lock this weekend.

I doubt we score 40 points Saturday night. With the new clock rules, I can see us working on our run game and turning the game over in the second half to our backup QBs to try and establish our #2 before B1G season.

I'm not scared of Rutgers, but for three straight years, they have made halftime very uncomfortable. I think we'll try to get these run game issues resolved before we face our first (and maybe best) defense before PSU.

I agree with you on the clock rules, however BGSU is statistically the worst defense out of the 3 cupcakes and the 1st stringers will be good for 30-35 points on their own through 3 quarters as we have seen.

Weird side note comparative to last season's cupcake blowouts, the defense/special teams has not forced many turnovers, scored a TD, or given the offense good starting field position other than Sainristil's INT vs. ECU around mid-field. With how the defense has played so far, I wouldn't be shocked if there is finally a non-offensive score/short-field starting drive for Michigan this weekend which would help the spread.

Sounds like this weekend is Orji's chance at #2 QB as well. He has the highest upside of them all and if they are going to try and find JJ's backup, they may throw the whole bag out for Orji in the 4th Q which again, helps the 40+ point spread.

I've been noticing a lot of out-of-town/state students' parents coming to the games this year--increasingly more than last year and the year before, just steadily upticking.

Could be something with making something exciting for them/their kids now that UM is consistently nationally relevant--never underestimate the influence of parents and their $$$ for branding/reputation/etc.

Remember when we were all beside ourselves for the FIRST NIGHT GAME ever against Notre Dame? We even gave it a name. And then we gave the 2nd one a name. Those were the days.

I want you guys to understand something. Traditions are great. If they are great. When it comes to football pants, yellow sucks. As much as those yellow pants have meant to you, they were not as good as they could be. There have been good times with yellow pants. The best of times with yellow pants. But that doesn't mean that if our pants were blue, that those times wouldn't be even better. Not only that, but as the world turns, those best of times would become even more hallowed out memories. Anamneses of the yellow pants.
