Blake Corum TD Record Watch
This season, Blake Corum is climbing the Michigan record books. On the latest touchdown adventure, he zipped past legendary names like Desmond Howard, Braylon Edwards, and Anthony Carter, high-fiving Chris Perry on the way up to the #5 spot..
Total All-Time Touchdowns
- Tyrone Wheatley (54)
- Anthony Thomas (50)
- Mike Hart (43)
- Denard Robinson (42)
- Blake Corum (41)
- Chris Perry (41)
- Anthony Cart (40)
- Braylon Edward (39)
- Desmond Howard (37)
- Rick Leach (34)
Total All-Time Rushing Touchdowns
- Anthony Thomas (49)
- Denard Robinson (42)
- Mike Hart (41)
- Tyrone Wheatley (40)
- Blake Corum (39)
- Chris Perry (39)
- Rick Leach (34)
- Billy Taylor (30)
- Hassan Haskins (30)
- Steve Smith (29)
Excluding his unsuccessful attempt to play against Ohio State last season, the most recent game in which he did not score a rushing touchdown was against Georgia in the College Football Playoff (CFP), during which he only had 3 carries.
Now, when it comes to facing Ohio State, it's a laugh riot. They've only had to handle 8 carries from our touchdown sorcerer Blake Corum, and guess what? Michigan, in all its glory, remains undefeated against them during Corum's touchdown-spangled reign.

A couple more to tie Mike Hart in both categories. Coach Hart will be the most enthusiastic supporter of the accomplishment when it happens.

It's awesome that he should get to pass two members of the staff this season.
Edit: Let's be real: he should pass both of them in the next two weeks. 😎

I actually talked to Mike Hart before the 22 season started and I joked that Blake Corum might come after some of his records and he came back "not as long as I'm coaching we'll pull him in the redzone."
He was joking of course but it's funny given your comment.

A Harbaughffense scores a lot of rushing TDs. If Edwards doesn’t take a step forward, Corum might get those goal-line snaps.
There’s way more than (13 total and) 10 rushing TDs yet to be scored this season. I could see Blake Corum taking the record.
September 24th, 2023 at 6:05 PM ^
Or Mullings, more likely.
September 24th, 2023 at 8:01 PM ^
Mullings looked really good in his opportunities. A dude that big moving his feet like that is trouble and bodes week for our 3rd back carries and 24
Sione Houma but fast.

Number 7 is Anthony "Carter" presumably? And Braylon "Edwards." Let's give these greats their due! : )

Good catch, didn't really proof read it as good as I thought (Mods can you please fix it)
September 25th, 2023 at 8:20 AM ^
I just read right through it as if the names were correct. Good catch

That is some list. BC is being in the conversation is credit to what he has done. Incredible. I see him getting 12 or 13 more. With B1G championship in the mix, he has more chances to accomplish this.
September 24th, 2023 at 6:09 PM ^
Better get the Bobblehead before the record falls.
September 24th, 2023 at 10:10 PM ^
This is disproportionate. His legs need to be bigger than his head.
September 24th, 2023 at 10:15 PM ^
Blake should have a "bobblelegs" so the legs can be big and wiggle like he's running and making cuts.
September 24th, 2023 at 6:13 PM ^
I would not have guessed Wheatley was #1, but seeing that he had 14 receiving touchdowns reminds me how devastating he was on screen pases.
September 24th, 2023 at 6:24 PM ^
He had 47 rushing, 6 receiving and one kickoff return TD.
September 24th, 2023 at 6:55 PM ^
Screen pass is a rushing TD if caught behind the LOS, right?
September 24th, 2023 at 7:06 PM ^
Screen pass is still a forward pass, all the other counting stats are categorized as passing, so I would image TDs also would. Laterals, I.e. backwards passes, are part of the running game.
September 24th, 2023 at 10:29 PM ^
Line of scrimmage isn’t relevant, it’s based on where the ball is released. If it’s caught further upfield than it is thrown, it’s a pass. If it’s caught behind where it was thrown, it’s a run.

Per the U-M statistics archive, a couple corrections:
Anthony Thomas is actually the all-time leader in total (56) and rushing (55) touchdowns.
Tyrone Wheatley indeed has 54 total TDs, but had 47 rushing, not 40.

That is actually a great thing to know. It appears that Michigan counts bowl game stats before the 2002 season. The NCAA does not recognize stats from bowl games before the 2002 - 2023 season, which is odd but doesn't surprise me.

Vincent Smith offers the 2 finger gun salute
Good luck, Mr. Corum!
September 24th, 2023 at 6:22 PM ^
9-12 games left and he needs 14 total and 11 rushing. Seems reasonably doable.
September 24th, 2023 at 6:30 PM ^
He's also (tied) #1 in FBS for most TD's this yr.
September 24th, 2023 at 6:36 PM ^
Good thread, but unsure why several of these numbers are flatly wrong.
September 25th, 2023 at 9:12 AM ^
Because I used the NCAA totals, not Michigan's. Michigan counts bowl game stats before the 2002-2003 season, and the NCAA does not. I was not aware of this when I pulled the stats from sports-reference.
September 24th, 2023 at 6:42 PM ^
The ground game will be even more of a battle this Nov as OSU is trying to prove their toughness.
Keep him healthy for The Game so he can carve them up in Ann Arbor.
September 25th, 2023 at 8:02 AM ^
Well, that did not work out so wonderfully for them last year-not that anything did in "The Game".
September 24th, 2023 at 7:13 PM ^
Hell yeah...

Blake Corum is now tied with Chris Perry for number 10 on the all time Michigan points leaders list . His next TD will put him in 9th tied with Denard with 252 points .

may tie or pass the A Train by the MSU game
September 24th, 2023 at 8:40 PM ^
Crazy names on that list. Thanks for the heads up - I had no idea
September 24th, 2023 at 9:12 PM ^
Is there a total games played stat for this top 10? Curious if there's any interesting standouts.
Happy to say I've likely seen each player score at least one in person.
September 24th, 2023 at 9:23 PM ^
I don’t think he’ll get the record, but he will be right there with A-Train. My prediction is he finishes #2 in all time TDs and #1 in rushing TDs
September 25th, 2023 at 9:56 AM ^
At his current pace 8 td's in 3 games. He will be #3 after Saturday, #2 after MSU and #1 after PSU.
When we get inside the 4, we give it to Corum and he gets in.
So barring injury, Corum will most likely be UM's all time touchdown leader.
September 24th, 2023 at 9:54 PM ^
Corum is going to pass Denard and Hart for sure, and good possibility that he will pass A-Train.
September 24th, 2023 at 9:57 PM ^
Tom Harmon had 33 touchdowns, so it looks like he's No. 11 on the list. That was a national collegiate record at the time.
September 24th, 2023 at 10:09 PM ^
My wish is that at the end of the season Blake is #1. And he becomes #1 winning the national championship
September 25th, 2023 at 6:04 AM ^
Passing TDs are not credited here are they? If so, Denard would have 91 all-time TDs.
September 25th, 2023 at 1:04 PM ^
The player that actually gets into the endzone with the ball gets credit. So no passing TDs. The receiver gets credit for those.
Chad Henne is #1 by quite a bit on the passing TD list. He's #1 with 87 while Navarre is #2 with 70. Then Grbac with 64 and Denard with 49. JJ is 9th with 35 and has at least a fairly decent chance of getting 15 more this year to pass Denard. If JJ were to come back for next season, he would likely get up to #2, but unlikely for him to pass Henne for 1.

I see Coach Hart going with Edwards on goal line carries the rest of the season
