Big. Game. Blues.
We all know what that means! Let’s get this championship! Go Blue!

Like the French at Fort Necessity
January 7th, 2024 at 4:54 PM ^
I have never heard ANYONE ANYWHERE mention Fort Necessity. Are you from around Uniontown?
January 7th, 2024 at 6:57 PM ^
Nope, from New Jersey. Mercer county, aka the location of the battles of Princeton and Trenton on Xmas, 1776. Maybe my school just took its colonial history seriously?
January 7th, 2024 at 7:36 PM ^
Extremely impressive. I have been to Fort Necessity dozens of times, mostly because my grandfather took me there to fish in a pond behind the fort.

“Wow, they look SOOOO much better when they wear blue pants.”
-my wife who doesn’t care or know anything about football.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:52 PM ^
My wife says the same thing. Also, she is an OSU grad and now roots for Michigan. Great woman.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:17 PM ^
Was really hoping for our classic look but ok.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:18 PM ^
I read that we are 7-1 in the BGBs. Not sure if that’s true, but I’ll take it!
UPDATE: I just read on Twitter that we are 16-1 in blue pants.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:50 PM ^
16-1 has to include our away games in blue pants.
The only game we lost in blue pants was against Georgia in the CFP
January 7th, 2024 at 1:41 PM ^
...and Georgia went bye-bye to get knocked out of the CFP.
16/17=94% winning percentage. I'll take it.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:48 PM ^
I got my preference: Traditional for the Rose Bowl, Big Game Blues for the Big Game.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:53 PM ^
^^100%. Glad we went tradition for the Rose Bowl and now it’s time to break the special ones out.
January 7th, 2024 at 1:29 PM ^
I'm cool with this.
The Rose Bowl looked like our 1997 win. The NC can look like our 2021 and 2023 Ohio State wins.
January 7th, 2024 at 3:40 PM ^
I still really want one of those rose bowl jerseys
January 7th, 2024 at 5:42 PM ^
Me too.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:19 PM ^
Dumb. Classics are so much better. Need some damn color on the field, between our blue and Washingtons dark purple and the black endzones. Yea maize would’ve looked awesome
January 7th, 2024 at 12:27 PM ^
Washington is 2 seed so they’ll be in whites I imagine
January 7th, 2024 at 12:38 PM ^
Either they’ll do all whites or purple pants. Either way, maize pants would’ve been a lot better
January 7th, 2024 at 12:59 PM ^
Look at it this way: Penix is less likely to see Josaiah Stewart closing in for a kill shot if UM is in blue pants, which are closer to the field color (and the purple UW pants) than maize / yellow pants.
January 7th, 2024 at 1:31 PM ^
Who picks the color?
I think that the QB should be the one that picks, based on the contrast he wants to see with the opposing team's unis. That's the reason that our helmets were first painted with maize stripes, so that the QB could see his receivers down the field better.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:20 PM ^
We beat OSU in 2021 wearing these colors. Perfect
January 7th, 2024 at 12:22 PM ^
-1 for no shoulder graphics
January 7th, 2024 at 12:24 PM ^
I'm not going to complain about what we're wearing in the national title game (you know, because we're in the national title game) but I would absolutely have preferred the classic look.
January 7th, 2024 at 1:40 PM ^
I like that we used the classic uniform for the Rose Bowl. I also like the all-blues and don't mind them used for the (relatively new creation that is) the championship game.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:27 PM ^
Love it.
And If I’m not mistaken, beating Washington in 21 to kickoff this amazing ride we’ve been riding was the start of the big game blues. So now it can come full circle.
January 7th, 2024 at 1:32 PM ^
+1. Good observation.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:28 PM ^
classics > bgb > classic road > all whites >>>> all maize
January 7th, 2024 at 12:30 PM ^
All maize should be made illegal
January 7th, 2024 at 1:12 PM ^
All maize vs all purple would've been 🔥🔥🔥
January 7th, 2024 at 4:17 PM ^
If by 🔥🔥🔥you mean
then, yes it would indeed be 🔥🔥🔥
January 7th, 2024 at 12:31 PM ^
The banana-forms game was really visually confusing.
never again
January 7th, 2024 at 12:59 PM ^
Where do the bumblebee stripes rank in there? Or, God help us, Maize numbers on whites?
January 7th, 2024 at 12:34 PM ^
Love it.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:45 PM ^
I was hoping we might go big game blues with maize accessories.
But fuck it, just win!!
January 7th, 2024 at 12:58 PM ^
In Houston, propane and propane accessories are de rigueur.
January 7th, 2024 at 2:03 PM ^
Can a guy wear a flamethrower without a permit?
January 7th, 2024 at 12:46 PM ^
We better bring the maize pom poms to NRG!
January 7th, 2024 at 12:49 PM ^
Dislike but I guess at this point these are our standard unis for big games. I was surprised we went maize pants at the Rose Bowl. I wonder if it was sort of like wearing white at Wimbledon. You have to wear the classics.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:55 PM ^
Wearing anything other than the classics at the Rose Bowl should get someone fired.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:50 PM ^
Means Washington will be singing The Blues!
Proven fact very few people know but our players are a fraction faster when wearing Big Game Blues.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:58 PM ^
Yellow weighs more than blue. It’s science.
January 7th, 2024 at 1:05 PM ^
All shades? Even maize?
January 7th, 2024 at 5:25 PM ^
Enrico Fermi discovered that maize has the heaviest atomic weight of all yellow hues.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:57 PM ^
We're 1-0 against Washington in the all-Blues. Works for me.
January 7th, 2024 at 12:57 PM ^
From a purely visual standpoint I really, really dislike the all blues, but it’s hard to ignore our record while wearing them.
January 7th, 2024 at 1:12 PM ^
Wait, no bumblebee stripes?
January 7th, 2024 at 1:27 PM ^
Oooooh!
These things scare the fuck out of passing teams like Ohio State.
January 7th, 2024 at 1:55 PM ^
The BGBs are great under the lights. The iconic helmet design becomes more of a focus with the blue pants. The names and numbers absolutely pop without the need for shading or outline frippery. It's an incredibly clean look, and in my opinion more menacing than the classics.
January 7th, 2024 at 1:56 PM ^
Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I'd love to see a version of the uni in the "pitch blue" shade that the basketball team sometimes wears... Obviously we don't need any MBB juju infecting the football program, but I do think those unis are really sharp -- dark, but still blue. It's a unique twist on the popular blackout concept that kids seem to like.
For that matter, I think the Big Game Blue threads look great in the flat November light that makes them appear darker. In the glare of a dome, as we saw against Purdue at Lucas Oil a year ago, the uniform looks lighter and just not as cool and imposing, in my opinion.
Regardless, I think the Big Game Blue choice for this match-up tomorrow is the correct one. It seems to get the players going, and their record in the look speaks for itself. And of course, as has been pointed out, with our last victory over Washington, when the current run of success began, this was the uniform choice. It's a fitting full-circle gesture.
