Big Crystal Balls: Aubrey Solomon to Michigan

Submitted by gopoohgo on

Steve Lorenz and Al.com's Drew Champlin. Given Aubrey was informing staffs on his decision....

Edit: and not so good balls; Lorenz picks Gay to Mississippi State and Becton to VaTech

Lorenz putting his in is one of the best signs we could hope for. Lorenz has been hesitant to do so for a while so changing it now means he must have some good info. Considering Solomon said he knows where he's going, that makes me very positive. Unless Solomon is telling multiple schools he's coming, I have a very good feeling about this tomorrow.

...and you'd think even if he had told multiple schools he may be coming that there'd be balls in for Bama, USC or Georgia but it's been a tidal wave of Michigan balls for a while. If this was happening for Bama, I'd be 100% sure he was going for Bama. Since it's happening for us, I will continue to not believe until I see him on a dorm room on campus

Michigan has won their fair share of these types of recruitments, too, as recently as this recruiting cycle. The losses are just easier to remember. I don't mind someone choosing to protect themselves emotionally by hedging, I just don't see the point in posting it here. When the most recent available evidence points to M landing Solomon, why the need to post something like "He'll have a great career at Alabama?" Keep it to yourself.

You need a "strategy" to follow recruiting?

Just take the information, man.  Pretty much every respected recruiting analyst has Solomon to Michigan.  That's a good thing!  If they all had him going to Alabama, that would be a bad thing.

That's all.  If you need make believe Alabama is leading as a "strategy" to protect your feelz, maybe recruiting isn't for you.  Just check back on Thursday, we'll let you know what happened.

I don't understand why it's important to emotionally commit to something that, objectively speaking, has somewhere between a 50 and 75% chance of happening.  Yes, most of us are excited about the possibility that Solomon will come to Michigan, but we're also realistic about the fact that there is a lot of conflicting information and this all comes down to the decision of one person.

You read WAY too much into an offhand word choice.

I could give a shit one way or another, but I hate people bitching about how some others decide to take a second and express skepticism.

I just don't see why hedging one's bets/expectations should be annoying to anyone at all, best as I can see the reactions are great information, but...there's a long way to go.  I am not bought into it in one way or another, I find the roster building and implications interesting but beyond that where an individual decides to go doesn't effect me.  I just don't understand why people feel that they need to shame people saying pump the brakes a bit.

tl:dr your reaction to fellow Michigan fans saying it's okay to be skeptical is this overheated maybe you should go ahead and sit this one out yourself.
