Beilein's at it again. (James Blackmon Jr)
Another home visit tonight, maybe another big time commitment to follow. It sounds very promising. http://www.umhoops.com/2013/10/02/recruiting-james-blackmon-jr-nearing-decision-other-notes/

Yeah, this class looks like it could be shaping up nicely, but the 2012 class had 2 five stars, a very solid 4 star and a couple likely underrated 3 stars. That's definitelyy better, barring us getting two more top 30 players in this class.

Sorry if this has been covered, but do we have space for 2 more in the 2014 class?

This staff really has it going. It's the start of a program.
October 3rd, 2013 at 12:06 AM ^
We went to the championship game. The program is already here and it's thriving.
It's not a competition but the basketball program has me a lot more excited than the football program these days. They are actually selling a highly attractive style of play, not just platitudes.

You should work on not thinking negative thoughts about football all the time. Football is 4-0. Things could be considerably worse.
October 3rd, 2013 at 4:35 PM ^
Do you understand chicken-egg concepts? Things could only be considerably worse because we were SO horrible against Akron and Connecticut, two of the worst teams in college football.
See no evil, hear no evil is for children.

I'd be shocked if he ended up anywhere other than Kentucky.
October 2nd, 2013 at 10:10 PM ^
I recall reading that Kentucky only has room for 1 of the Booker/Blackmon Jr. combo so this may be Michigan jumping on a chance to scoop up 1 of them.

I'm pessimistic, but I like the way you think.

With the way Kentucky turns over their roster, they probably have room for everyone and anyone.
October 3rd, 2013 at 12:09 AM ^
Kentucky has "room" for 8 player recruiting classes every year. That doesn't mean it makes sense for the kids to always go there.
October 3rd, 2013 at 12:10 AM ^
Is he right that you don't closely follow basketball recruiting?

Kentucky has room for one more? Is that using B1G or SEC math?

when Chatman chose Michigan when just about everybody had him as a Arizona lock (which is not totally true by the way).
I'd say Michigan has a better than 50/50 shot of landing Blackmon. The interest is real from Blackmon

We shit at Chatman in a weak way and he still came here? Man, Beilein doesn't even need the golden poop that Hoke utilizes.

Not super tall for a college two guard.
October 2nd, 2013 at 11:34 PM ^
short SG in college. He is a good athlete and can shoot the ball well. I think with Chatman in fold, Chatman can play PG and guard taller SG while Blackmon play SG and guard PG.
October 3rd, 2013 at 1:42 AM ^
With Walton and Spike already on the team, and Michigan looking in good position for a couple of top PGs in the 2015 recruiting class, I don't see Chatman playing PG for Michigan.

Chances to end up with Booker & Blackmon, Jr?
October 2nd, 2013 at 10:32 PM ^
Not happening, we'll take one and run
October 2nd, 2013 at 10:46 PM ^
Booker set his decision for Oct 31 and is visiting us officially this weekend. He also dropped interest in Florida. I think he has lost a lot of interest in M since Duke and UK offered. The writing is on the wall and on many blogs that he will end up with UK. Booker's a great player and has a higher ceiling but I like Blackmon's demeanor and smoothness. I also think he's the more consistent player and I'd be thrilled to get him.

October 2nd, 2013 at 11:13 PM ^
Yeah, you're right. I guess all I meant is that Booker is a bit taller and looks like the more explosive athlete. Blackmon can really fill it up and has great touch, especially finishing at the rim. I'd rather have him for those reasons. Plus all the IU schadenfraude.
October 3rd, 2013 at 8:43 AM ^
calmly assertive style that I find very convincing. Booker's more tentative.

Wow and just as I was starting to feel a bit pessimistic on bball recruiting. Keep it up Beilein & Co.!
