Beating OSU just doesn't get old...
I hope its not just me, but about 4 weeks now after the game, I still watch compilation videos on Youtube, I still watch the Michigan game, skipping to the best parts of OSU (and sometimes Iowa), multiple times a week and I still feel the juice from that day.
I get that its a snowflake thread, and maybe I'll get negged for it. But, watch a few videos on Youtube with season or game compilations and tell me you don't get emotional and fired up all over again.
A year ago, in early December 2020, my wife (only 43) was diagnosed with a tumor in her brain, just by chance from an eye exam that led to CAT scans and MRIs. Within 3 weeks, we had to research, find the best neurosurgeon we could get, and move quickly to brain surgery on Dec 30 to avoid a possible rupture or other complication. Right in the middle of Covid, when i couldn't even be with her in the hospital for even a moment. She had complications and was in the ICU for a week because of a cerebral spinal fluid leak, and all I could do was incessantly call the doctors and the ICU for updates and to beg them to please keep watch at every step. After a week in the ICU and the leak stopping finally, they let her come home, miserable as she was even moving at all, but I got to go pick her up and bring her back to our family - all of which were struggling heavily without her (my two boys, 9 and 7 at the time, and our puppy). She took months to fully recover, and even had to have another surgery to repair some sinus damage that had been done (thankfully outpatient) in August.
The chasm between the joy I feel this year with my family home, Michigan's resurgance and last year couldn't be more absolute. Whatever happens on this Dec 31, I can promise it'll be better than December 31 last year for at least one UM fan.
Appreciate everyone on here for the online community we have, despite all the pissing and moaning, and neverending arguments... and wish you all a great holiday season - one I'm once again happy to go through.

And this is a far distant second-fiddle to your wife's improved(ing) health.

My favorite picture.

What the hell kind of person decides that he wants his legacy to be dressing up like a moronic clown? Even more confusing is a fanbase who celebrates it. Sorry to hear about your wife, we went through some scary stuff as well but it all worked out in the end. I always promised my wife I’d die first and I’m working dam hard to stay true to my word.

A rabid Buckeye, of course.

He’s superintendent of schools in Columbus.

I hate to be fair to OSU fans, but I've never met one who liked that guy.
December 22nd, 2021 at 4:22 PM ^
2 stuffed animals as well. Creepy.
December 22nd, 2021 at 4:15 PM ^
Honestly, its like they have a contest to see who can look like the biggest clown. The one that cracks me up is that weirdo Tim Curry look-a-like from the game - they show the pathetic santa with his head in his hands, and then this weirdo with a body suit and a top hat. I didn't see baldy on the broadcast, so thank you for the picture. Tired of him.
December 22nd, 2021 at 4:21 PM ^
Honestly, it looks like the Big Nut has lost some weight!?! Either way, not a good look for our fanbase (along with Buck I Guy), and I never understood putting buckeyes stickers on his underchin(s), looks terrible.
December 22nd, 2021 at 4:50 PM ^
It's ok. He's a fan. More rabid than most, but it's ok to be a fan.
From my perspective I'm glad he dresses up like that. That picture will last forever.
December 22nd, 2021 at 5:40 PM ^
Despite having both my parents from Cleveland and being a OSU fans, I rarely (if ever) defend OSU fans. With that, this bucknut superfan apparently raises money for good causes using his name/image. I can respect that...for like a minute. :)
December 22nd, 2021 at 7:14 PM ^
I heard he is a good guy despite the inference one gets from scarlet and gray paint.
December 22nd, 2021 at 9:09 PM ^
My wife and I talked to him for a bit a few years ago outside Bankers Life for the B1G basketball tournament. He was pretty friendly.
December 22nd, 2021 at 8:15 PM ^
Does that mean all the money he pisses away on that get up is tax deductible?
December 22nd, 2021 at 8:14 PM ^
where is Buck I Guy? Does he not go to away games?
December 23rd, 2021 at 6:25 PM ^
He does I think, but he’s the douche. Big Nut is a nice guy who raises money for good causes.
December 22nd, 2021 at 4:57 PM ^
The Tim Curry guy….I saw about 8-10 of those losers dressed up the same way in the concourse after the game. Buckeye tears were never so sweet!!

I always liked the crying buckeyes. I heard this guy passed away but was always an amusing picture of this buckeye Dad crying with his two sons. Glad to hear your wife has recovered.
December 22nd, 2021 at 4:06 PM ^
Congratulations to your wife on her diagnosis and recovery progress.
Keep up the faith. Be strong.
FUCK CANCER.
December 22nd, 2021 at 4:06 PM ^
Wow - glad to hear your wife has recovered. Best wishes to you and your family. You have so much to celebrate this year, indeed! And yes, like you, I have been reveling in the osu win pretty much every day, and I intend to for a while.

Here's a tweet with a video of every touchdown we scored this year
December 22nd, 2021 at 6:41 PM ^
I've watched that video a number of times because it's super fun. The video would have been better if it included the Hutchinson TD against State that was so unjustly overturned.
December 22nd, 2021 at 4:17 PM ^
Tesla, its getting very old for me, but you guys played well and beat OSU straight up. Hopefully next year is different, but for the next 11 months, you guys have every right to be happy and revel in it. I will admit watching 2016 and 2018 are among my favorite things to do when I have nothing to do around the house or with family, which is almost never. It's a guilty pleasure, I get it.
At the end of the day, sports are just sports, so happy for you and your family's health. That's truly the most important thing in life. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
December 22nd, 2021 at 4:21 PM ^
I can appreciate that. I don't really enjoy watching 2011 highlights - that was a pretty fluky Michigan win. But this one will go on forever. I will never get tired of this the way I never get tired of 1997 (my freshman year).
Much appreciated and same to you!
December 22nd, 2021 at 4:40 PM ^
It was fluky in the sense that OSU had a coaching change leading to a 6-6 season in the middle of two decades of great teams but it wasn't flukey like "Ohio State was the better team that day and balls were bouncing off people's helmets and ricocheting into Michigan players arms fueling some undeserved win." UM was the better team that year and outplayed them in the game. I get it wasn't as satisfying as beating an "at their prime OSU" like this year's.
December 22nd, 2021 at 7:31 PM ^
That last drive, Braxton Miller, who was a terrible QB, missed a wide open te that would have been the ultimate dong punch. It was flukey in that a lot of things had to happen for us to squeak it out. But not in game flukey things, other than that throw, yes
December 23rd, 2021 at 1:22 AM ^
Braxton Miller was not a terrible QB
December 22nd, 2021 at 5:16 PM ^
I will upvote this once you get Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer to concede there are more important things then football rule violations and give all the proceeds from "Life Promises for Success" and "Above The Line" to Children's Hospitals.

OR, just chiming in to say 'merry Christmas' right back at you.

I’ve watched the BTN in 60 at least 25 times including today.
December 23rd, 2021 at 2:52 AM ^
Currently watching and I think I’ve watched one or both of the Big Ten Championship and OSU games every day since they happened. My kids are starting to make subtle hints that I should watch something else, but 10 years is a long fucking time. That stadium has never been so loud. I honestly didn’t think it was capable of being that loud, like the acoustics of the stadium prevented it. To see the happiness on the players, coaches, and fellow fans faces, the relief, well it’s not getting old at all, not even a little bit. I’m a little stoned and I’m rambling, but you get my point.

Given what you and your family have been through and thankfully come out of, this is one holiday season where you would be, and should be, overjoyed even had we lost to the Buckeyes. But, wait for it, we didn't! So, Godspeed and Go Blue!

I still have it on my DVR and re-watch a few series each night.

God Bless you and your family. Actually God Bless all families and I’m very happy about your miracle bride! Keep up the positive attitude and continue on in happiness throughout this year and the New Year! p.s. I’ve watched the,”GAME” everyday since I left the “Big House” November 27, 2021.
GO BLUE

Just think how many hours of your life could have been lost doing things far less productive than rewatching the game every day. And I'm being serious!

I enjoy this thread more than all of the other threads from today. Three reasons:
- Glad your wife and family are doing okay. Scary stuff and cancer is the worst.
- This win will never get old. Like, eternity even when the last sun dies never get old.
- it’s not about what those other threads are about.
happy holidays all!!

Football is just a game - but the life of a loved one is so much more. Thank God for your wife's recovery and your family being whole.

Wow, your family has survived a harrowing ordeal. Here’s wishing you all a healthy and prosperous New Year after a fabulous New Year’s Eve. Go Blue!
I didn’t get to watch either OhioSt or B1G Championship in real time, but I’ve since watched both twice in their entirety. Q3 of OhioSt, and Q1 of Iowa are my go-tos for a shot of December happiness.
December 22nd, 2021 at 4:51 PM ^
My daughters and I have watched the entire game....minus fast forward through commercials.....4 times. And in a few minutes we're going to watch the B1G Championship game again....3 times for that one.
Back in the day I would watch Wheatley going ham on Washington in the Rose Bowl 1993 over and over. Had the whole game on VCR tape. Also had PSU 1997....that was a fun ass whipping to watch many times.
December 22nd, 2021 at 5:59 PM ^
This makes (old) me remember rewinding VHS tapes that I had to ask my parents to record back home.
I came to love how grainy and worn they looked.
Favorites were 1) Leroy Hoard's Rose Bowl rumble v USC, 2) Higgins' game winner v. Illinois, 3) Desmond's "diving catch for a touchdown!" (to hell with Notre Dame).

Happy for your wife, and your family first and foremost! Covid was tough on all of us. My dad passed a few months before covid hit and then the lockdowns and our disaster of a 2020 year and football season. Just horrible. So glad that 2021 has been so much better in many ways for us all.
2021 Michigan, The Game, and the call “Ladies and Gentleman, Ohio St has been vanquished will live for ever in my head. The entire game.
I’ve watched it so many times and I remember watching the game. When Osu went up 10-7 I’m like respond, just respond and let them know it’s not happening. And the offense goes down and scores! My instant was, this game is different they are ready and they aren’t flinching against them! I got more and more pumped, another fg to go into halftime 14-13 and just felt the energy from the team. Halftime hits, we get a stop, and Josh Ross just smashes their all world rb for a 2yd loss on 3rd and 1..BOOM, BALL GAME…. Yeah, from that moment I knew this team not only wanted it more but now had become the bully on the field and was beating up the bully! Offense, right down the field for the TD, Corum huge run just shreds them on a great cutback. Haskins rides the TE for 1 It kept going, another stop, they had to punt.. and downs the for the td and that defense was done! Defense gets another stop, Hutch forces the false start on the all world LT, osu gets a first down but they contain wilson for 5yds. Stop Henderson for a 1yd gain and SACK, Hutch gets a sack…. After already getting a holding call and a false start this drive. The defense keeps pressuring the QB, stopping the rb, a sack and punt…. Right down the field again, back to back pass plays, JJ 3yds, Cade 34 yards to Sainristil… JJ, run for 6yds to the osu 1yd line and we all know who scores next! 1st and goal, Haskins for the TD.. it’s over..
Osu goes into overdrive knowing their defense is done. But they throw, get tackled, contained but drive the field for a td and need some miraculous catches along the way and the about keeps getting pounded. Osu scores to get it back to within 8, Michigan responds, drives the field TD. Osu does it again, there offense has to try to keep pace and in the face of relentless pressure and our defense has gained confidence the challenge to complete passes has become tougher but they manage and score. It was not to be though. They can’t stop the Michigan Oline, Can’t stop the passing game when they throw and they keep getting ran over by Haskins!
4th qtr, 35-27, osu needs a stop. Michigan Oline, Te, rec’s, and Haskins.. 5 carries, 63 yards. A hurdled osu defender, and TD Michigan, Haskins, 5 TD’s on the day! 42-27 Michigan….
Osu gets the kick, picks up a first down, 1st down pass complete 5yds, 2nd down Stroud SACKED by O JAB O!!!!! Loss of 13yds, osu calls time out and 4th and 18, Stroud completes a pass to “Wrong Way Chris Olave”. Running the wrong way again, he’s short…. Complete for 12yds, turn over on downs. And the call.. Ladies and Gentleman, Wolverine Nation, The Long Drought is Over!!! Ohio St has been Vanquished!!!

Everything in life is just a bit sweeter when Michigan beats OSU.
This particular game, however, meant so much to so many because we haven’t had the taste of victory for a decade, and so much has happened in many of our lives in that time.
Add in the “Harbaugh can’t win big games” narrative, the fact that everything was on the line in this one, coming up just short in 2006 and being cheated in 2016, this was an absolutely cathartic moment for the program and many of us fans.
It was an absolutely glorious day…from the snowfall, to the fan energy, to the on field play…it was all magical. We have been on the wrong side of a bunch of ESPN classic games for 2 decades now.
This one was special. It was a classic. It was glorious. It is one we can all savor for the rest of our lives…like 69, 95, 97, and 03. And hopefully it’s onwards and upwards for the program and Harbaugh from here on out…but if not, we’ll always have The Game 2021
