My main halftime takeaways:

Iowa St likes to flop around legal screens and their star point guard is doing his best Jordan Poole impersonation and falling down after ever 3 point attempt.

The only difference is this guy then complains and begs the refs to call a foul when he flops after shooting.

Score at halftime according to the scoreboard: UM 41 ISU 37.

Score at halftime according to the announcers: UM 4 ISU 100.

Not even Cheney loved Haliburton that much.

Up 4 at half with lots of sloppiness. Ball needs to be in Z’s hands, I hate the turnovers like most on here, but he makes 5 great passes to 1 bad. I don’t trust others with ball. Teske played very little. Overall up 4 isn’t bad, especially with this many turnovers. I get the sense Howard’s approach is attack, we will take the good with the bad. I just hope they reel in guys not Z, Livers, DD, or Brooks dribbling much. Z needs to control the ball most of the time unless they try to take him away.

Passing is so much worse this year.  We were always spoiled with great passing under Beilein, but this looks bad.

also, looks like Johns, Nunez, and Castleton are all not prepared to be a great option this year. At best role players.  We need someone who can take somebody one on one besides Simpson.

i wonder if howard's philosophy is to take greater risks with passes to get easy shots.  that's my only explanation for these TOs, especially for Z.  high risk high reward vs JB's emphasis on taking care of the ball.

Agree. Seems his philosophy is attacking to get easy buckets. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Not sure if I am a fan or not, but I want those attacks by Z not by Johns/Castleton/Nunez/Teske. Brooks, Livers, DD pick their spots. We live with Z, he’s the glue of the O. Reality is he needs to play well this season for them to reach high potential. Sort of live and die with Z.

I think having shooters like Livers and Franz though, risking decisions on passes not always the best play.

Davis playing man ball..... I had a feeling that Juwan was going to get more out of AD that anyone was expecting.   He played HUGE in the first half.  That's going to give C4 a year to bulk up and grow into the role.
