I think I’ll apply for B1G Commissioner if Warren does leave.  My main selling points will be my expansion plan that includes extending invitation to Stanford and Notre Dame, then contact Texas and Oklahoma and ask them what they need to flip from the SEC, then finally let FSU/GT/Miami/BC know of my plans to invite them as soon as they convince the ACC to implode.

After that, we can pick up any remaining pieces of the ACC and PAC that are worth anything.

Finally, my plan will be to withdraw from the NCAA and set up our own rules and regulations and explore creating a collective bargaining agreement with a newly formed B1G Players Association for all Varsity Sports (men’s and women’s) Club sports that are non-paid and/or don’t have any scholarships will not be included.

I will only ask for $500k annual salary, and 1% of any increase in TV revenue during my tenure.

Good plan but I'd rather add Oregon and Washington from the Pac-12. Notre Dame is a good get. Annex Texas and Oklahoma like you suggest and also annex Kentucky and Missouri to keep a Central US footprint. Let the SEC pillage the ACC and what's left of the Big-12.

I'll be a consultant for $100K and 1% of the 1% of TV revenue money.

Let's party in St Maarten or Maui, take your pick.

Per the OP, it was epic disrespekt for Warren at the Big Ten Championship.  Every time he was introduced to give out some award, he got the Roger Goodell treatment from the crowd.  Hilarious.

If there’s truth to this, and Warren becomes President of the Bears, I would guess the Bears will lock down fourth place in the NFC North for the next six years…

Well that was, umm, unexpected.

Who would we tap to replace him? As we've seen from the Larry Scott disaster in the Pac-12, this is actually a pretty important position.

The fact that he was the parent of an MSU player bugged me. It may not have amounted to anything, but it felt like a conflict of interest.

Seems like a step down.  You go from leading an organization composed of 14 of the biggest sports names in the business, a TV contract worth (literally) billions, and a leading voice in the direction of college sports across the entire country, to running one team organization that has no direct TV contract and isn't responsible for anyone else.

Maybe he's just not cut out for leadership on the scale he had?

I am going to hold off on any celebratory comments.

First, the tweet does not match the post.  The tweet says that he has emerged as a top candidate rather than that he is expected to be named.  There could be other top candidates.

Also I am invoking the Monte Clark rule named after the former Lions coach of blessed memory.  I always wanted the Lions to replace him because the team was always mediocre.  I was excited when they terminated him only to find out a few days later that Daryl Rogers was the replacement.  Now I do not celebrate until I know the replacement.

Unpopular opinion but I want whoever comes in to replace him to finish making the rest of the PAC- # division of the Big Ten. Bring on Oregon, Washington, and Stanford.
