The Atmosphere of the World’s largest toilet vs the Big House

We keep seeing the Ohio State pep rally implore the fans to not allow Penn St to hear their signals. The scoreboard there reinforces this.

At our games, the scoreboard tells fans to be quiet and allow the opponent to hear their signals.

Why the fuck are we stupid?

I’ve never noticed the scoreboard saying anything like that. Having said that, I will agree our crowd is oftentimes pretty quiet, but it does crank up at key points in big games.

It will say something like "[Opponent] needs you to be quiet so they can hear the play calls" followed by something to get the crowd to be loud.  As far as overall crowd noise, I think it's better than it used to be.  Not sure if that's because the boxes hold more noise in, people are getting louder, or both.

It's the whole "we're not like THOSE PEOPLE" vibe that surrounds Michigan Football. I don't know why it's that way, but it's lame. Michigan is a huge sports school where the vast majority of students show up shit faced at games - just like every other large public sports school.

Football fans at Stanford and the Ivies are less pretentious than some of Michigan's fans. It's weird.

The Michigan fanbase has people like this who stare at the scoreboard at home games during 3rd down and are unable to grasp intricate concepts like sarcasm and sit there scratching their heads

OSU has toothless hillbillies who can't read and don't want to learn how screaming their heads off at every second because they don't know how to do anything else

THAT'S the difference in atmosphere

LMAO!!!

At one point, during the game last week, TV showed that on the big screen during a TV timeout.  It caused me a double take before I realized the sarcasm of it during a 3rd down.  OP probably saw it also, but took it seriously.

Good grief...

I think you are missing the /s from the scoreboard. The message I saw last week was stating that Michigan fans need to be quiet so the opponent could hear their play call, and to “do your part”, aka yell your ass off
