Jett Howard makes the list at #11

Wing, Jett Howard

Michigan, Freshman

Slick offensive threat who could shine next to a lead playmaker.

SHADES OF

Desmond Bane, Dillon Brooks

This makes him the top draft prospect in the conference by their reckoning. Would be bittersweet to watch him be a one and done when this year already seems largely lost. Probably overly optimistic to hope dad can talk him into staying another season. I think he'll figure it out and be great in the league once he's there.

Sadly the ability to create hyper-links in a post is not the most difficult programming task of all time although based on our repeated inability to do so one would think it is.

The single most difficult, expensive, cumbersome, time-consuming programing task is apparently giving users the ability to edit their posts once they've hit save.  Now some will tell you that this futuristic feature can be found on other sites (some even claim it was right here on MgoBlog back in the day) but dont you believe them.  I happen to know that giving users the ability to go back and fix simple errors, like the one in this post, is more challenging than time travel & eternal life put together times two.

It is clearly the Holy Grail of websites like this one.

OTE maybe but G League is here to stay as the superior option for the highest level prospects.  Pro style, development and coaching, better competition, no NCAA nonsense, etc. and I think NIL will cool down once these boosters get burned enough times.  At least on unproven young prospects.

Seems to me that the greatest hope for him to stick around for another year is that it might (should?) make for a much easier transition to the NBA.  Maybe that's important to him.

A couple of years ago when my son was looking at high schools (we live in NYC, the public school system here is insane -- choosing a high school is similar to a degree choosing a college) he was excited about one school that put students on a fast track to complete 2 years of college by the time the finished 12th grade.  My question to him was "What's the rush?".  Seems like a fair question to ask an 18 (19?) year-old Jett Howard when thinking about the NBA.

I agree with your comment.

but as a high school student, I had an opportunity to go through college fast (not as an athlete, but as a student). And I thought that was the best thing for me. My parents, mentors, everyone around me said “what’s the hurry?” But in my mind, I just wanted to finish school. So I did it. Quickly.

and only in older age and hindsight, I see what everyone was telling me. And I tell my family and friends the same now: what’s the hurry? Take your time? Enjoy college, you will never get these years back. It’s just hard to see an older generations perspective, especially when you’re an immature teenager.

My answer would have been "it's not about time, it's about money. Specifically, getting 2 years of a college education for free"

Your son sounds like a smart young man

The Howards dont need the money. Its not inconceivable that Juwan gets him to stay considering we could return our entire team next season and make a run at a conference championship, and deep tourney run. Juwan stayed 3 years and made a point of graduating. Its obvious the education component is important to him.

Agree. He is lucky in that he can afford to wait, mature and bulk up in college before heading to a league full of grown men. But ... it has to be hard playing for your dad. I think it's 50/50 whether he stays or not and I think momma is going to have more to say about it than Juwan.

While I hope you're right, how often does a projected lottery pick return for another year of college?  It doesn't really happen - and probably shouldn't.  If you can make a lottery player's salary and have basketball be your full time job, that's a no brainer.

That said, maybe he loves the amount of time he spends with his dad and brother and knows he'll never have the opportunity again!  Offensively, Jett has been one of the best true freshman I've seen at UM.  Another year getting bigger, stronger, and smarter and he can be All Big Ten level next year.

My hope is that he will want to play in the NCAA tournament like most kids growing up. He’s more than likely not going to play in it this year. He knows he’s going to play in the NBA so the tournament would hopefully be a lure to come back

I would be a little surprised if Jett goes pro.

He does not need the money which will still be there for him. He is invested in Michigan with his family. I don’t think he wants to leave Michigan with this season being his legacy.

It might be different if they won the Big Ten and made a Madness run.

Shades of Dillon Brooks??? Am I going insane? Dillon Brooks is an inefficient chucker who plays great defense. How is that Jett Howard in any way?

We are currently (5-3) tied for 2nd in the Big Ten, with a young team who will keep improving.

HOW ABOUT WE STOP SAYING THIS YEAR IS LOST.

If this team goes 12-8 in the Big Ten and wins a couple games in the B10 Tourney then they ARE going to make the NCAA tournament.

We need I think 10 more wins to have a shot at the NCAA Tournament. A win say vs Purdue would be a huge help.

13-7 in the B1G and 2 BTT tournament wins puts us at 21-13. If one of those wins is vs Purdue I think it cancels out the CMU loss. With that I do think we are holding our breath on selection sunday
