yeah I'm with you, they look cool. very much a sign of the new team without messing with any traditions, works for me. I'd definitely like a white one, the blue ones are meh.

I've got no qualms with the stripes on the practice jerseys myself. I'm much more concerned with the positioning of the stripes on the helmet.

I remember rambling once before about how much it bothered me that we have one color on the home shirts and two color on the aways... somewhere in my old diary entries I remember suggesting we go back to the Harbaugh-era aways with the contrasting Northwestern stripes.

Im a nike man, I LOVE the subtlety of the nike jerseys with just the small swoosh. I was SO upset when we got the addidas deal. IMO the the nike jerseys always looked better. Although I do like what they did with the 3 stripes

I'm not a big fan of them. But, I don't really care since they're just practice jerseys. Obviously the home jerseys won't change but I'll be interested to see if the away ones do (including if we go back to blue numbers as mentioned above).

They didn't fix the jerseys, they changed them. I think they look pretty cool and I'd probably buy one if they sold them.

I'm all for 'em. A couple reasons why...
I worked for the team only a few years ago (under Carr) and the "practice jerseys" back then were recycled game jerseys from days of old. I'm not kidding when I say that some of the players would get stuck with ripped up jerseys from the 80's to practice in all year. We never sprung for new, comfortable, practice-only jerseys.
Also, put yourself in the players' shoes. The majority of these kids don't have the history and tradition of our beloved home jerseys (or helmets/gameday/etc.) baked into their brains like we all do. They go crazy over any shiny, new designs or gear that Adidas rolls out (I can't describe the hysteria at practices when new Nike gloves were delivered when I was there...it's hilarious). Throwing the players a bone from time to time and letting them get some new stuff goes a long way towards increasing moral and keeping things fresh. That in turn increases the energy at practice (maybe far fetched, but I've seen it happen in person). Think about recruiting too, just look at Oregon (not that I want our jerseys to induce seizures...just sayin').
Anyway, some new stuff is harmless. They look pretty cool. We all know 3 vertical stripes aren't showing up Sept. 5 on the field. No harm no foul.

They remind me of the range balls at every golf course's driving range. You use those to practice your swing so I guess these are cool...for practice.

Good point, some places use the yellow top flite nalls but all seem to have those 3 stripes on them.

Howeva, if the players appreciate the new gear, I'm for it. Overall, I would prefer Nike over Adidas. Adidas does offer a few items that I'm not aware of Nike offering when we were a Nike school, such as shorts that look good IMO as well as inexpensive dri-fit shirts. As a whole, I prefer the Nike look and technology. VectorVictor, that is a shame that Nike didn't give the players more free gear.

I should clarify. Michigan players were never left wanting for gear. Grays (boxers pretty much), mesh shorts, dri-fits, gloves, etc. etc. etc. would flow out of the eqpt. room daily. But there isn't anything that exciting about a plain white shirt of plain blue shorts (to the players...I love those mesh shorts and still have many a pair). The players get to wear these new jerseys in front of the media, and they just look sharper and newer than the old recycled ones. Don't underestimate the vanity of 20 year old athletes...

The white ones are okay. I don't care for the blue as much. It really doesn't matter either way, though, since they're just practice jerseys.

Were you on campus in 2000? That was a big reason why our first Nike contract expired without renewal (forcing us to buy uniforms for a year).
Goss was pressured to have some kind of anti-sweatshop clause inserted into the new contract we were negotiating. Nike told us to go to hell, and we went without an apparel deal for a year. Goss was canned, Martin took over and we signed a new deal with Nike in 2001 (presumably not including any sweatshop language).
