Any MgoBicyclists Out There?

Submitted by AlaskanYeti on

Will be interesting to see if there are any other SNRE (School of Natural Resources and Environment) or PITE (Program in the Environment) alums out there, but came across this new bike jersey that was designed for this year's SNRE Climate Ride team. I'm a big fan of the design. Especially the use of green in the back and winged helmet on the sleeves.

As far as I know, designs for other U of M schools (business, engineering, etc.) were not done. I'll be looking into how to purchase one of these jerseys and whether or not you have been a part of SNRE and you're interested in purchasing one too, I'll pass along the information as it's aquired.

EDIT:

If interested, let Mr. Brenner know your size and mailing address via email before Friday. I believe he's putting in an order early next week: [email protected]

Then send him a check / money order made out to the University of Michigan for $70.

Pretty cool jersey.  Typically the Michigan ones I have seen are very substandard.  This one looks good.  I look for bright colors on the back for visibility reasons.  This one is a bit "dark" for me on the back but maybe the block M is sufficient.  I would be interested if the price is at all reasonable.

Several years ago (like 10-15), I got one from the cycling team that seemingly had an out-of-proportion block M.  I got another a few years later that seemingly had the wrong yellow.  The one I got this year seemed spot on.

I have one of the Voler kits from the M cycling team a few years ago that I really like. I wish I had gotten bib shorts, but I was just getting into cycling and didn't know any better.

I'm riding in a fundraiser event next week, and my team's jerseys are IU jerseys. The team was organized by a group of doctors at the IU hospital. I really should get a Michigan jersey and show up with that on.

I need to get a bike. We have these great metro parks here in the Cleveland area with beautiful scenery in some parts and I do not have a bike. Maybe next year.

It looks nice, but I really only need one.  And, I wear it sparingly as I live in Chicago area where lots of different opinions are expressed to riders.  Being on the road with angry rival fans in cars is a precarous position that I don't enjoy.  So, I normally just wear uncontroversial jerseys.

Incidentally, I raced in the Grand Rapids Tri a week or so ago and I saw lots of M tri kits.  Very nice.  I passed one M triathlete on the bike and she assured me that she was going to hold off the IL triathlete that was immediately behind her.  And, I passed another M triathlete on the run and had a little more time to talk.  Apparently, he either was too tire to consider it or was not aware that Ty Isaac had recently committed to the football team.  So, I just kept going.

...where you ride the road without any regard for the rules of the road, causing unsafe conditions, all while hypocritically giving a car the bird for accidentally cutting you off when the car had right of way?

You're the type who doesn't realize that a cyclist is essentially a vehicle, and the "rules of the road" treat them as such? The car doesn't have the right of way over a cyclist if they wouldn't have had the right of way over another car. I only ride occasionally, and I get sick of all the "get on the sidewalk" calls and douches trying to hit me, when it's actually illegal in almost any major city to ride a bike on the sidewalk instead of the road.

Not only illegal to ride on the sidewalk but significantly more dangerous.  The same drivers that would tell you to ride on the sidewalk would also pull out into an intersection without ever looking to see if there is a bike on the sidewalk crossing.

No, it's the type of thing where I try to ride country roads to get exercise, be as visible as possible and understand that, despite that, I am always in danger.  I also understand that a certain percentage of cyclists (although much smaller than you believe) act like idiots.

It's the type of thing where I try to use hand signals, obey the rules of the road and be respectful to approaching traffic especially during the week.

It's the type of thing that works and allows me to coexist peacefully with about 95% of drivers but, despite all that, there are the 5% (probably even less than that) that blaze by within a foot or two and have no concept of sharing the road.  Sounds like you are part of the 5%.  Sounds like you might be looking for the bird.

Ugh, people like you....

There are dumbass cyclists out there just as much as there are dumbass motorists. For every cyclist that runs a red light/stop sign there is a motorist who feels the need to pass me within a foot or so at 50+mph while screaming to "get off the road" or try to smoke me out with their diesel truck. Assholes are everywhere.

I think it's a city thing.  I'd say maybe, MAYBE 1 in 20 cyclists obey traffic signals/stop signs.  The rest blow right through stop signs and red lights then scream at cars/ pedestrians for being in the way.  HATE

I'm all for sharing the road.  However, you then must obey the rules of the road.  This means they should be subject to the same tickets/fines that come along with "driving" like a goddamn idiot.

Yes I don't disagree with that but your experience must be more of a city thing and is not anything close to other places.  I do see too many idiot cyclists for my taste but they are way in the minority where I live - most riders here obey most or all of the rules of the road.  And I must say that most motorists around where I live are very considerate of cyclists - but of course that ones that are not, seem to go out of their way to find problems.

Trust me homeboy, we don't like being on the roads with cars any more than the drivers do. I've only been "almost hit" a handful of times, and every time it has been while on a sidewalk or general-use path. People pulling in and out of parking lots are the worst offenders. I try to stick to roads with low speed limits and nice big shoulders when I can.

Thought the link was missing because I saw no jersey photos, then tried in firefox and they were there (pretty cool looking). Sorry to ask for tech advice in a random thread, but anyone know why some photos/videos don't show up for me when I use chrome?

I'm almost positive they'll be shipped to you. I live in Alaska, so if that's not the case, then I'm screwed. Be sure to provide your shipping address in your email and to be safe include it again in the envolope you use to deliver your check / money order.

Unfortunately, I don't know the expected arrival date or the order date. I didn't ask, only because it didn't matter much to me if it took a month or whatever. As long as it came eventually. However, it was requested that I confirm via email the number of jerseys I wanted and sizes, so.....seems like a placed order may come soon.
