Another example of Brian Kelly's douchebaggery: He abandons daughter to graduate at Notre Dame by herself

Daughter Grace still 5 months from Graduating Notre Dame. I'm sure that's going to be fun.

Moms, please delete this thread. This is not the time - like there ever is - to post something else about Brian Kelly. I made an emotional decision. The wrong emotion for today!

Ain't nobody got time for this; sorry guys and gals...

I mean there is no doubt Kelly is terrible human being but come on this a stretch. We don't need to invent reasons why a guy who got a student killed is terrible.

A few things:

 - You can't really abandon someone in their early 20s in the manner suggested.

 - She is probably well aware of the man's shortcomings. You can't help who your parents are.

 - I am sure most people can differentiate between them as people.

 - Extraneous posts like this really do little for the board.

I have mixed feelings about Kelly getting all this bad press now.  On the one hand, he's a scumbag and deserves it.  OTOH, it bugs me that all these same media outlets were carrying water for him for years.  Only when he left ND did they "discover" what kind of a person he was.  Their real issue, it seems, is that he left ND.

Yeah, it's weird to see media members suddenly realize that the raging asshole on the sidelines was also a raging asshole as an HC and would apply that same level of disregard to everything else in his life.  It's not unlike Mark Dantonio, who toward the end started to get some pushback for running his program the exact same way he had for years but because they were losing his "dean of discipline" aura faded away.

I do get that his daughter had to graduate and so there isn't a situation where he could have taken this job without her still being at ND but I also get a strong vibe that the thought of the strain this would put on his family never really crossed his mind.

Within 5 months  this adult will graduate from a stellar university without debt. I would take that for 5 months of boo birds (although those people suck).

Did you live with your parents throughout college? Or did they just come in for graduation, perhaps? Which I suspect papa Kelly will be able to afford to do.

The guy is now making 10-15 Million a year .they bought him a 4.8 million dollar home. LSU is the easiest place in America to recruit ,no academic set backs and the new state has great weather  ..... youd leave too

I don't think so.

I currently have a well paying job and am not looking for a similar one that offers more money. Those jobs are out there, but I like how things are where I work.

As for being a coach in Kelly's position, I am a very loyal person; if I recruited and grew up those young men like they were my own sons I would have an EXTREMELY difficult time abandoning them. Which is how I would describe my douchebaggery if I made the decision to leave for more money. When I am already making more money in one year that 99% of the worlds' population would make in a lifetime.

Ah, first world problems...

Not to put too fine a point on it, but that would be an outcome of douchebaggery not an example of it. And I think that she's kind of tweaking Dad rather than declaring a nervous breakdown. The ND sheepskin may get her farther than the LSU one would have, anyway. Unless she wanted to run a car dealership in Baton Rouge.

Hmmm...

Douchebaggery is defined as, "Contemptible or obnoxious behaviour."

So, Brian Kelley's Contemptible behaviour, his suddenly up and quitting ND for money, like he has none, leaving his team (I didn't mention this in my post, but it is true) at a most inopportune time, and leaving his daughter to attend ND to possibly have to experience irrational and unfair backlash, is an example of Brian Kelley's Douchebaggery.

Am I still stretching things?

This definition is provided by 'Wiktionary', btw

This is an example of a quotation, also from Wiktionary, that APPEARS to support my use of the word:

2005 April 6, Adrian Cocot, “Re: UCL 2004-2005 Quarter-Finals Day Two”, rec.sport.soccer, Usenet

Actually, with a better centre back who won't be pushed around by Drogba's douchebaggery in the box, Bayern would have a better chance.

Go Blue, beat Iowa!
