And the leaving Senior is....

Carson Butler. I got this information directly from the mouth of a football player. It was he who got into the extended fight with the coaches on the sidelines of the OSU game. He's on extremely bad terms with richrod and is going to test his luck in the NFL draft.

What he has demonstrated he is is undisciplined (lots of offsides as a TE) and probably impulsive personnality. Much better suited for DE. It will be a mistake to try the NFL. Unless he is a cancer, he should stay, add 20 lbs of muscle under Barwis and learn DE - then NFL is not far fetched at all. Remember, he was seeing playing time 1 week after position switch.

Agreed. I'll be moderately disappointed if it's Butler simply because he adds serviceable depth at a fairly thin position. But we can certainly do without his attitude. The guy seems like a hot-headed punk out there on the field. Much like Greg Matthews, imo (except that Matthews actually contributes on the field).

Put everything else aside and this is a senior with football talent who was going to be playing defensive end, and we're going into next year in medium-to-dire need of bodies at defensive end (though not so dire if Graham returns as planned). I hope Carson returns, and I think it's the smart thing to do. If he bolts to the NFL, he's just another TE with an attitude, like The Soldier. If he stays, he could potentially become an NFL defensive end (he was moderately competent just one week after the position switch), and those guys make bank.

The fact that this poster credits Carson Butler as being the culprit in the sideline fight, when it was Charles Stewart (Butler no longer wears #5), sort of immediately ruins their credibility. I'm not saying it's not Butler - I'm saying that if it is, this guy blindly and luckily guessed.

im sorry I should have clarified...Charles Stewart was the main cause of the fight, but Butler later got involved (from what I can tell this was after the camera moved away) and threatened to fight Rich Rod. that's right. The two hate each other apparently, and Butler was most likely gonig to have been kicked off the team had he stayed, so he's jumping ship and taking his chances in the Draft.

When Carson Butler beefs with someone, it generally involves blunt-force trauma, not the grabbing of shirt collars.

that Beanie Wells announced he is considering transferring to Washington but only if Les Miles gets hired. His mother's best friends cousin told a woman who works with my father-in-law.

Any response to the fact that the Big Ten Network selected OSU as the most disappointing team in Big Ten Football-Columbus Fans have to be excited. Will next year be the year?

Think you guys are a little harsh here... it's not like anyone would be surprised if Butler was the guy who was gone. In general I give a lot of credence to rumors that no one would particularly care about. If someone says Artis Chambers is likely to transfer he probably is because someone trying to yank your chain wouldn't pick Chambers. I bet this guy is legit.

I just want to know what this whole thread is stemming from? It's not that I don't believe it, I'll do my own research, but how did this come up in a conversation?

Like I said, I don't know how this came about, but it looks like it's true. I just asked someone, "Is Carson Butler leaving, and was he involved in the sideline argument?" They told me the same exact story that this thread started with, only described a little worse. **********THIS IS NOT OFFICIAL, I WAS TOLD THIS BY A SOURCE, DO NOT TAKE THIS AS OFFICIAL UNTIL ANNOUNCED BY COACHES************** (just thought I'd give a little disclaimer this time)

I mean, take that with a grain of salt. One persons perspective of fighting is different from another, I don't know what happened with that.

You would think if you almost got in a fight with the head coach during a game you would be kicked off the team, if not arrested. RR said in his Monday presser that he wanted to talk to the kid who didn't show up for the team meeting before giving his name, so apparently he wasn't kicked off. The whole thing sounds pretty weird.
