"All In" T-shirt - you wearing it?

Submitted by TomW09 on
So, this year was the first year in which the students were not allowed to vote on t-shirt design (let alone actually let students submit designs). And the result is, IMO, the worse Michigan t-shirt I think I've seen in my now fifth year on campus. Did anyone not buy the shirt? Is anyone a really big fan of this shirt? Is anyone just going to wear the old ones? Personally, half out of protest for not allowing students to vote, and half out of protest of the god-awful corniest corndog of a slogan ever, I did not buy it. I know several friends who also didn't buy it and will wear old shirts. (Also, I know this is probably been talked about already. It's July).

I hate it too. The slogan and the pledge on the back are just stupid. I don't need a pledge to motivate me to yell for the team. I much prefer the older ones with just Michigan Football or whatever on the front and Most Wins, 42 Big Ten Championships, etc on the back. In my excitement the day student tickets went on sale I did buy one without actually looking at it. I haven't decided if I'm going to wear it yet

I'm not a fan of the "pledge" either. I'm guessing it was the school's way of trying to get the blue haired alumns that show up at the game and yell down in front to yell for the team for once. Which would be fantastic if it worked.... but lets be honest, it won't.

I don't mind the All in for Michigan slogan considering last year. But I can not stand the idea of a pledge. It should be up to the students to at least vote on a shirt.

I bought the shirt along with my student tickets, but more to have every student shirt while I'm at U-M. The design is atrocious and the slogan/pledge are ridiculous. I feel bad for the freshmen that have no other student shirts to wear.

'slogan' this year was "Commit to the Indian" (the logo, obviously). As such, I saw a T that simply had the word "COMMIT" in the center, and the Indian head below. I'd like to see something similar w/ Michigan, rather than the 'all in' slogo. COMMIT Subtle, but commanding, imo.

There should be an MGoBlog season t-shirt design competition, similar to the banner where we can all vote on designs and then get shirts made for the season. I agree that the recent shirts have been pretty bad and the fact that the Athletic Department still markets them as the "Student Shirt" is silly since there isn't even any student input in the process anymore.

I'll buy it cuz I want to show support to Rich Rod and the team, but I don't really like the design too much. But you guys, if this is the mentality everyone is going to have, we will never perfect the maize out...

* walks in and looks around at all the dorks arguing on T-shirt design.....walks out slowly as not to alarm them and avoid attack... ...an hour later finally in safety he has a laugh at their expense*

I get one every year... but I haven't been wearing the new ones. Personally I think the '03 shirt was the best (with the stats on the back of it)

I've been wearing my freshman year (06) shirt every year. I will not be discontinuing that practice for All In for Michigan. Fuck that shirt. Awful.

Was a maize shirt from 2006 that read, "Guns Don't Kill People, Lamarr Woodley Kills People". Not an official shirt, but it made me laugh when I saw it.

I don't mind the shirt. I am all in for Michigan. As in, I will be super drunk, super loud, and will definitely wave my towel and dangle my key chain. Fuck it...right?

I will probably buy the shirt, but it is highly debatable if I will ever wear it to a game, or perhaps even in public. I may buy a few of the $9.95 shirts from the M-Den, unless they are total shit quality, which at $9.95, is likely. Oh well.

It looks goofy. They could have just put a Michigan logo on the front and the schedule on the back and it would have been better.

I can tell you for a fact that Adidas took over the student t-shirt design last year, too. There was a student who was designing the t-shirt for the Athletic Department, and the design was thrown aside when Adidas came on board. His design was awesome. The design Adidas brought to the table was horrid. And this is even worse. The pledge could be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in a lifetime of being a Michigan fan (and now alum). It's cheesy, stupid, and totally everything that Michigan isn't. I'm sorry--that crap may fly elsewhere, but this is Michigan. Come. On.

I've been forced to (alright, fine .. have willingly) watched enough episodes of "What Not to Wear" on TLC that I know this shirt is nothing any self-respecting person over the age of 16 should be seen in.

It's not quite the worst - that would be 2005, which was blue, and looked like the back had been hastily crayoned in. But it's the worst of the yellow ones. 2003 was the best, closely followed by 2004. We need to go back to boasting about our accomplishments.

Going along with the "All in" Shirt and its maize color, have they announce if and when they are planning a maize out this year?
