If you just read the CAPITALIZED PARTS!!! it paints an interesting picture.

IMO, HUGE HUGE HUGE HUGE RB. USC RB BOTH HUGE. ONE OF THEIR BELOVED SCHOOLS RIVALS! HUGE HUGELY. IMO

It's like the the Hulk turning back into Bruce banner then freaking out back into Hulk mode, and the whole time both personalities are having a stroke.

And now I kind of feel bad about it. What the guy wrote is some sort of poetry. The hidden message, said with power and authority, paints a portrait of strength and resilience amongst the clatter and noise of pessimism that surrounds it. Certainly, it's difficult to muster the appropriate words to overcome the constant doom and gloom, and that causes great emotional swings, but at the end of the day it must be screamed, or else we're all just stuck in the muck that is the surrounding pessimism.

Truly beautiful. I'm so embarrassed I missed it the first time.

We offered a bunch of QBs before Malzone because we have very limited space in our class and the staff wanted to make sure that they got the right guy. If you see the offer list that went out, all of the offers were sent to some of the best players in this class. We only offered Malzone once Nuss saw Malzone throw in person and was sure he was the right guy.

Isaac is transferring because he wants to be closer to his sick mother. He may be buried at the USC depth chart, but I think thats more because the other guys are good and have more experience (although don't quote me on that... i dont know much about the USC guys).

I think we still have a shot with Harris and Crawford. Harris would be a huge get in this class. Crawford we can live without b/c we have recruited DB really well over the past few years, and I'm not a huge fan of Crawford's size (he is quite talented though).

Agree with you on Campbell... I really hope we get Miles Boykin. Dude seems like a beast.

Depth chart has nothing to do with Ty leaving USC. His mother (I believe) is sick and so the NCAA granted him a release to leave USC, pending it was not to a direct opponent on USC's schedule. (ND May be an exception; there were talks but it seems like they will not be in contention.)

If he transferred to a school within 100 miles from his home (Joliet, Ill) then he would be eligible to play in '14. If he chooses a school like Michigan, Indiana, etc he would have to sit out '14 and assuming academics are okay, would become eligible to play in '15. He did not redshirt as a true freshman last year at SC so he can burn that in '14 and still have three years of eligibility left.

As far as the depth chart goes, he played about as much at USC as Green and Smith played for us. Not jaw dropping stats but he showed promise at times and certainly has potential. His big knock has always been that he is unusually tall for a RB. At somewhere around 6'3'' he runs high and has seemingly always relied more on his speed than his ability to break tackles. Idk how we are recruiting him but he would make for interesting match ups and could potentially convert to a WR or even a safety. By no means am
I suggesting he will but based off his skill set and our needs we could potentially make that pitch. Most likely he will play RB and compete. That's how we recruited him before.

and doom scenarios ad nauseum if Isaac doesn't commit, those who don't really read the small print in his story, let's try again:  It would be a huge deal for him to have to sit a year, which he will have to do if he comes to Michigan.  He may love Michigan, he may desperately want to commit here, but he may still choose to go to Illinois so he can play immediately, and has every right to do so.

His visiting (with his family) knowing the sacrifice he'd have to make to commit is a very big deal in itself.  He's certainly aware of what all the other recruits and de-commits know about our season, or think they know, and he's seriously considering us anyway.  So no flame-outs please if he chooses to be closer to home.

And kudos to him if he decides otherwise.

Illinois is out of the 100 mile range as well. UI is in Champagne, which is more than a 100 miles from Joliet (I believe). I think the only D1s that are within the 100 miles are NW and Northern Illinois. Madison, AA and even ND (possibly, and if he is allowed to consider them) fall outside that range. Unless he chooses one of the two mentioned I believe he will be required to sit the year.

Of course Illinois is closer. But as far as I know the verbiage in the bi-law is pretty cut and dry. The actual purpose of the transfer is to be close to his mother. Idk if the NCAA would want to begin setting a precedent of concessions because then every athlete who transfers will feel entitled to the same treatment. Correct me if I'm wrong but as it is written the school needs to be within a 100 miles or the next closest university with your area of study available. He can transfer outside that zone but he does so only at the cost of missing the upcoming season. Maybe I am wrong, and I am sure Illinois could try to get the ruling overturned, (as they should) but as it stands I believe NW and northern Illinois are his two options if he does not want to sit out. Dumb rule that I completely disagree with but the NCAA has seemed to have plenty of those lately. Illinois is located in state...they should have the same access as NI and NW.

1. Malzone did get a later offer, but it was within a week of Nuss watching him throw in person. You have to completely ignore all the Borges offers before that. Nuss only offered players after he saw them in person, and it seems they really liked Malzone once they did get to see him. Yeah they did swing for a couple 5* guys first, but they were in constant contact with Malzone and never not recruiting him well.

2. Isaac was also a true freshman at USC last year. A team that was loaded with highly rated RB players as well. He was injured, and still made the field. As noted, he's not leaving because of playing time, but to be a lot closer to his sick mother.

3. Harris decommitted because Michigan fired Al Borges. As someone in the Recruiting thread aptly said, "Michigan is far better with neither Borges or Harris than they are with both of them." We're also still in the top 3 for him, the top 5 for Mike Weber despite Borges pretty much abandoning him as a recruit, and the top 3ish for Jacques Patrick. The fact that they're doing that well despite the lack of recent success is actually phenonemal when you think about it.

The only school that gets top 5 RBs every year is Alabama, and when you win a National Title every couple of years, that kind of makes sense.

if you look at the comments coming out of recent camps and his invitation to the Opening. He had few big offers before so to say Michigan missed on him or missed by not offering sooner ignores that Michigan was still ahead of most teams for a guy who is really moving up the boards.

I've said it a few times and I will make the statement again, he'll end up pretty highly ranked by the end of senior season. I'm not really a star chaser, just a feeling I have.

This can't be true, MSU FANS say the only reason he got a 4th star is because he committed to Michigan. That naturally makes him not Elite 11 worthy like their stud QB from Arizona!!!!!!!!!!! /s

Congrats, Alex! Prove the doubters wrong.

First, congrats to Alex. Seems like a good kid who's on the rise.

Second, have you looked at previous Elite 11's? Usually, a good portion are truly "elite", but 2009 was a tire fire.
- The 2007 group was full of studs - Andrew Luck, EJ Manuel, Blaine Gabbert, Landry Jones, Mike Glennon.
- The 2008 group was also top notch - Tajh Boyd, AJ McCarron, Aaron Murray, Geno Smith.
- The 2009 group? Well, except for our own Devin Gardner, it's a complete mess: Joe Boisture (MSU, then out of football), Nick Montana (on his 3rd school), Chandler Whitmer (same), Rob Bolden (PSU, then LSU, then basically out of football), etc.

Hopefully Alex can be the best in his class, like Devin was, but have a better, more experience OL to lead us to some more W's and championships.

I commented on an earlier post that I though he was just a depth kinda "dude."  Since it looks like I may be eating those words, so I would like them medium rare, with a side of "don't know shit about QB evaluation" fries.  What is the soup of the day?

Hey Wolverine fans, just wanted to share this video of Trent Dilfer calling Alex Malzone late Monday night notifying him of his invitation to the 2014 Elite 11 Finals. Malzone is 1 of only 18 quarterbacks nation wide invited to the prestigious event. Enjoy and Go Blue!
