WHAT??!? ... Go blue! WOOO!

this is why everyone thinks that michigan fans are stupid - because you are. we won by 2 pts. so now, all of the sudden, you're all over rich rods nuts again. forcier for heisman. may the forcier be with you. etc...etc...etc. if one random bounce of the ball works out differently, and we lose by two points, you'd all be insane with rage calling for rich rods head and proclaiming harbaugh as the messiah against arizona tonight.
shut up.

We still win. Go Blue.

I'm totally jazzed that we won, and not to be a downer but this made the Penn St. game look like an even bigger debacle. I still think we need a defensive staff overhaul. Keep Rodriguez though, 67 points? OMG

is it bad that this is the best ive felt about the defense in the past 5 weeks?

The D was put in HORRIBLE spots by the turnovers...that and that really lame decision to kick the FG in the 3rd Q...and still did alright when it needed to.
It's a W either way though!

You have to give the kid a chance to perform. Short term, yeah it hurt. Long term, it's good for team morale to know the coach is going to trust you to do it right and that screw-ups can be forgiven.
Sucks that he still missed it, but it's part of managing a team.

Very well said, 100% agree.
I'm also unhappy with the boo-birds that come out when RR sends out the field goal team.

I was surprised though that we kicked it before the half. I thought for sure we could have gotten the yard we needed and chewed some more time off the clock, plus 7 points.

I feel the same way they were given a short field and played well compared to PSU or Iowa or MSU
November 6th, 2010 at 4:21 PM ^
they were 6-16 on 3rd down too. how does that even happen?
November 6th, 2010 at 4:22 PM ^
No.
People will look at the game and stats and numbers and whatever and say this defense played terribly.
Stats do not tell the entire story of a game. They take the information that's present and that's it: all context is removed. What's lost is how the defense made absolutely HUGE plays when they NEEDED to do so - previously, these plays were missed.
The defense did a good job today, in relation to their previous efforts.

like the 2 td's mouton allowed on that same wheel route, but in general, the players were much improved.

In some respects the defense did play better this week. It's troublesome that some of the reasons for the improvement (Demens starting, Roh on the DE) seemed to be recommended by people not paid to coach Michigan.

Anybody else scream for the pass in the flat for easy first downs today? I hope the QBs see that on film this week and take it next week as opposed to forcing the ball down downfield.
November 6th, 2010 at 8:53 PM ^
so I wonder if they've been told to always go down field instead. Doesn't seem reasonable but I can't figure out why else BOTH our guys would repeatedly pass up the easy 5 yard throws to squeeze the ball between 2+ defenders.
And Griese and the other guy were practically yelling at Tate to take the 5 yarder. By the end of the game they were both apoplectic every time he passed up the short toss for a riskier throw.

Have you ever been in a situation where you are relatively inexperienced, 100,000 people are screaming at you, the pressure is enormous, and you are a teenager? You just might overlook (no pun intended) a few things.
Maybe if the Illini QB weren't a RS Freshman, he would have audibled at the line on the final play of the game. We as fans ask way too much of these student athletes.

Someone please tell me that Rich Rod walked into the press conference, paused, and then lit up an enormous cigar.
