Drew Ellis of the Oakland Press reporting that Schlissel reached out to Heeke. Thoughts on him?

Is it possible that President Schlissel is just gathering information, speaking with local ADs to get their thoughts (on how to go about the search)?

his very strong ties to MSU, Heeke has had a number of troubling problems at CMU. We can do better---way better.

As a CMU grad, I never have been impressed with Heeke. He hired some great football coaches, but Enos has been awful IMO. The basketball program hasn't been stellar either. He is a good MAC AD, but he doesn't seem ready for a department like Michigan.

He is the face of the football committee. It would be very awkward to change jobs during that process and changing jobs afterward would be too late. He's in by name only on a dream list.

It's probably quite the leap to go from CMU to Michigan. We have significantly superior athletic departments to many football peers i.e. Oklahoma. Unless this guy is awesome, we can probably do much better
