was pretty much a given I think.  GameDay is starting from Columbus at 7AM and that ESPN's A crew.  They will probably move the GameDay stage inside the Shoe at 9:00 AM.  This game has ramifications rivaling the 2006 game.  This was always going to be Fowler and Herbstreit.

If Blaha can do MSU football and Pistons bball, let's get the Dickerson train rolling. Not like the Tigers will be going late into the fall anytime soon.

I'd even take Jim Price for the starting lineups: "batting thuuuuurd and playing Full Back, the BIG MAN, number 80 Khalid Hill"

you're right, he is not good.  However, he is cleaning some things up.  There are some things that he is always going to struggle with due to his history as an analyst and not a play by play guy.  He has a way of making completely insignficant plays sound over-exciting, just the inflection of his voice can make an incomplete screen pass on second down seem disproportionaly exciting and influential.  There are those issues.  He is never going to be a natural.

However, he is identifying players quicker, he has stopped editorializing and left most of that to Dan, and he is getting better at identifying the "must know" things for listeners.  More "right to left on your radio dial," a lot more down and distance reminders, quicker identification of notable personnel changes.  I don't think he will ever be good, but he has made notable improvements.

When Jim and Dan get anyone up in the booth with them (and often when it's just the two of them) they start waxing nostalgic about the good ol' days; and before you know it, the game is completely incidental to their anecdotes about that thing Dan, or Jim, did with Bo that one time.

It reminded me of the impersonation of Harry Carey that John Campanera does; only that was funny. Jim and Dan aren't supposed to be.

to this at the end of Oklahoma/W Virginia.  I don't think Fowler is quite as good calling the game as he was on gameday, but don't mind Kirk

Herbie is so disliked by ohio state fans that he relocated his family from columbus to Tennessee years ago.  He wasn't enough of a homer for their liking and they literally harassed his family out of Ohio.

Never got the Herbie hate ..he got played by the "Les Miles to Michigan" story in 2007 when he went with his source live on GameDay but otherwise calls a good game and isn't overtly anti-Michigan or pro-Ohio at all.

I'd take him over Spielman or Ed Cunningham or Pam Ward.

OSU fan here.  Herbie is well liked/respected in the OSU fan base now.

However, years ago during Tressel, Herbie was very critical of the OSU team, coaching, talent, etc.  He was much more critical of OSU than any other announcer was, and much more than he was of any other team.  He appeared to be going way overboard not to be perceived as an OSU homer.  He was pretty strongly disliked then.  Still, no excuse for the OSU fans that harassed him and his family when he was out in public.  (He has said that most fans treated him well, but there were some that were really obnoxious.)
