No, they have had this signing day coverage schedule set at least a week or two in advance. I made a thread when it was announced..

you did! :)

They are probably doing it at the end of the day at their schools...or they have a TV commitment.
I'm not concerned about the times at all. Some guys have called the coach to commit in the middle of his press conference.

As much as it meant bad things for UCLA when Chris Clark was announcing at 8:30am EST. I will gladly take how bad that turned out for UCLA.

Someone please keep those of us at work updated.

I'm pretty excited for this. Don't follow recruiting much at all anymore, but make sure to watch this press conference each year.

It's 2:01,why hasn't it started yet?

and give his thoughts or experiences recruiting the guys individually.

And the Groundhog's Day feeling persists...

I wouldn't think so - there are a few Michigan targets that have yet to announce actually. I think Marshall is on the west coast, so that won't happen until probably 4-ish ET, I would guess. As mentioned on the boards, Jefferson and Wheatley will chime in with their choices at points between 3-4 PM ET as well. I could be missing people here too.

if Harbaugh doesn't get another LOI today, his first recruiting class, with almost no time to recruit, is better on the top end than Mark Dantonio's ninth class in EL. Michigan has four ESPN Top 300 recruits; Sparty has three. Michigan has five four-stars; Sparty has four. The only place Sparty has an advantage is 14 3-stars out of 19 total commits compared to Michigan's 7 three stars out of 12.
I am already impressed by this class, even if Michigan gets shut out by those waiting to annoumce. And imagine what happens if Michigan pulls off another one or two surprises this afternoon.

Harbaugh sounds like he hasn't slept in a few days, although he is being asked pretty standard questions about a group of guys he met a max of five weeks ago.

All I keep thinking is that I'm so glad I was wrong and had to eat crow about Harbaugh coming (and thus changed my username). I still can't believe it every time I see him doing anything and it's accompanied by the line: Michigan Head Football Coach.

do anything as Michigan's head football coach, isn't it?
We're living in exciting times.
February 4th, 2015 at 2:37 PM ^
It really is one of those "Holy shit am I dreaming?" moments every time I see him out there in polo shirt with a U of M logo talking about "his team.".

Discussing Higdon's interest in going to medical school, and how it impacted his decision to flip.
February 4th, 2015 at 2:21 PM ^
Irony because we all remember when Stanford won that battle in the past, or irony because Iowa touts its medical school?
February 4th, 2015 at 2:25 PM ^
Irony as in Harbaugh's comments back when he was at Stanford about M pushing football players into "easy" majors

The numbers are only a cut point. Beyond that, the admissions committee considers 1) Will this applicant be a good doctor? 2) What will this applicant add to the class we are crafting? 3) What's the applicant's potential?

Why is there an "OPEN" thread for a press conference?

How hard can it be to have remote microphones available, so that questions at a Michigan athletics press conference can be heard?
You get two Athletics Department staffers and have each of them hold a remote microphone, stand on one side of the audience during the press conference, and hand the microphone to a questioner before the questions are asked. The questioners can be instructed about pressing the "ON" button or switch so that the microphone is ON and the question can be heard by those watching online.
February 4th, 2015 at 7:17 PM ^
Just always leave the mics on and have a competent sound man to mute them when they aren't being used.

Precisely. I stopped caring much about recruiting a few years ago. Dantonio is a perfect example of coaching/developing being a more important factor than how many stars a high school kid has from these dumb recruiting sites that, to this day will always puzzle me, have thousands of subscribers. It will always amaze me that people pay for those sites.
