Looking at the film on this young man and feel this is a very good get for the Michigan DL. This kid has a tremendous upside to him. He has height, length, and technique is excellent. The use of his hands, speed, and the ability to squeeze blocks shows he has been coached very well in high school. Can't wait to see this kid develop and put on even more size. Good get for Michigan.

If he had the tools to be “Very Good”, as you say, his offer sheet would look much different. There are lots of kids who have great technique and good coaching but don’t have the athletic ability to be “very good” at a Power 5 school.  I’ll be happy if the kid ends up being a rotational fill in.

LOL. Never use the exception to make your point.  99.9% of people ranked as Dominick is will end up being completely irrelevant as a player. That is my bet. My hope is I’m wrong, but everything says that he will not end up being a “very good” football player for Michigan.

Just a thought / wild ass guess, but he got spoiled his first 2 years at Michigan with Glasgow, Wormley, and Hurst, who were all sub 300 but held up well inside at DT. And the biggest guy he had was Mone who seemed to fade as he got older. So possibly that led him to try to find more Hursts (listed at 280 his final year) as opposed to Mones. Dwumfour and Kemp never became Hurst.

The knock on him is that he’s an average athlete. Also he was regarded as a DE for his entire recruitment on recruiting sites. I think if you consider him as a DT you could see a rotational player with his motor

He mentioned that he was up to 270 now in an interview. By all accounts, he's a smart guy and a very hard worker. He also has solid athleticism for an interior player.

I, too, think he could be end up being a very good addition to the class.

He lead the state of NJ in sacks as a JR.  I know his competition was not great but anytime you lead the state in a stat like that you are doing something right.

He is definitely well coached and a pretty disciplined player. He does a nice job pressing the hip on a down block, clearing the QB and then playing fast and flat down the line for some TFL's. There was also a play from the endzone shot that impressed me. They ran zone stretch at him. He fought across the tackle keeping his head outside and his outside arm free to maintain his gap, but when the cutback hit, he was able to fold back in and make the play. He likely won't provide immediate help due to the need to pack on some weight, but he has a shot to be a good player down the road.

Looks like a solid recruit you're taking a chance on growing into the DT role.  As your only DT prospect that's bad; as one of 3-4 then not nearly as much of a concern.

It appears to my untrained eye just based on his frame, his physical ceiling probably taps out at as an undersized 3-tech - 290 lbs. or so - or strong side end. I do think with Michigan more likely moving towards 3 man fronts, this actually plays well to Guidece's talents as a disruptive 280 lbs defensive end.

I don't think he has the frame to fill out into a 300 lbs space eater playing over or shading the center, but he could do some Winovich-esque damage coming off or setting the edge.

Honestly, under the new defensive scheme I think he becomes a more compelling recruit in this class.

I was originally surprised hey even offered him. He had no Power 5 offers and is the lowest ranked player Harbaugh has recruited at Michigan.

That said you can't fault a guy for looking good against inferior competition.  As a junior he had gaudy numbers.

The challenge as you point out is where to put him. He played 5 tech in high school. He projects as a 3 tech here. His coach says he has great leverage scouts say he plays too high.

His coach and his Ivy offers suggest he's a super smart guy, great work ethic and a lead by example recruit.

It's clear he has the intangibles, the question is can he convert those qualities into athletic success.
