1997 linebacker Clint Copenhaver received a hilariously misspelled recruiting letter from Wisconsin

Submitted by M Fanfare on

With the news of Aubrey Solomon's decommitment after receiving a recruiting letter that spelled his name wrong, former Michigan linebacker Clint Copenhaver tweeted Angelique Chengelis a photo of a recruiting letter he got from Wisconsin in the early '90s.

I know Clint from my dealings with him as a rep. This is beyond hilarious. I wonder how many mail employees got a kick out of this on the way through the post office!

at the end of OT season.  If we beat MSU and OSU this season, Brian can sell We Beat MSU & OSU shirts with some of the proceeds to go to the Hatter retirement fund.

Shit happens. If a kid is so thin-skinned a misspelling or post card mistake sways him, not sure he would have fit in anyway. He's going to have more adversity than that at some point.

LOL!!  Way to go, Alvarez - way to keep those recruiting lines open!

Hopefully, UW handled that with more class than some of UM's fans/alumni have.  With some of these guys, you'd think the apocalypse was on us!  Kid probably had mom breathing down his neck and reminding him daily that she wasn't on board.  Then this, and she probably struck hard.  'They don't love you, blah blah blah...'

But hey, if the kid would rather be coached by a college rookie HC and DC than by a proven Super Bowl performer with an NFL staff, let him go to Georgia...

when i was a contract employee at GM i had send an email off to one of the suppliers in Mexico to get some info and i copied the contacts US boss on the email. I clicked send button and spell check never came up and off went the email... the next morning i came into work and open up my email and i have an email from the US boss saying that was the funniest thing he had ever read... i re-read the email and finally noticed that in the middle of a sentence where i should have typed "this" i actually typed "shit"... moral of the story always proof read and just don't rely on spell check...

I can see why he saved that. Hilarious. But there's no way you don't notice that before you mail it out. If it was 5:00 on a Friday as Clint suspects and you're too lazy to go back and type it over, couldn't you just cross out the 'unt' with a black highlighter?
