Thank you Brian for MGOBLOG

Submitted by jaba on
I recently read an article on "The Big Picture" blog where Brian was interviewed (dated 20 September, 2007) and thought it was great. Had a good chuckle with it. Say what you want but Brian Cook is one of my personal heroes. Everyone has always been asked the proverbial question "name 5 people dead or alive who you would want to meet/have lunch/dinner with...", Brian would be one of them. Why you ask? 1.)I enjoy reading his blog articles; his sly, witty, sometimes sarcastic humor makes me laugh but always to the point, 2.)He's a huge, huge Michigan fan like myself, 3.)He lives in Ann Arbor, a college town/environment I would die to live in, 4.)He has created a "forum" for people to sound off thus creating an environment where people can express themselves with some but not much ridicule, 5.)He has some of the best group of people whose diaries/stories I love to read. I look forward to reading Brian's insightful witticisms and often times on the spot analysis that makes some if not most sports writers look clueless. Love the website and would be lost without it now. Keep up the good work Brian. Hey you think you could score me some good football tickets?

"He lives in Ann Arbor, a college town/environment I would die to live in," Or, you could do what Brian did -- have the courage to quit whatever you are currently doing and move to AA. Oh, I guess the "I would die to live in" was just hyperbole. Easy to say, tough to follow through on. In reality you are not willing to sacrifice much (let alone dying). Brian did. He decided there was something more important than money. I'm glad he did.

after reading this article this is clearly a case of a "man crush". its all good tho cuz i totally gotta man crush (no homo) on seal (voice of a god) and know many people who got their own respective man crush. i just nominate that we switch the title to NO HOMO just for safeties sake. man crush on...permitting it is all in no homo

No, I'm not gay. In fact I'm married (have been for over 20 years) with two wonderful children. Both of them in college. If anything, I'm a proud parent with a wonderful wife who puts up with my love for the game of football and the Michigan Wolverines. Been a fan of Michigan since 1976 when I first watched them on t.v. I appreciate what Brian has done with this website, that's all.

take it easy man. i assumed it was all in no homo it just sounds like the protypical man crush that every man has. its liek a bromance all in no homo its all good. its when the next step comes to obsession and need that sexual prefrences come into question. until then i along with every man alive will continue in our man crush with no homo

Maybe I'll donate AFTER I've graduated from U-M Can't afford till then haha The attacks on this guy for writing something nice are ridiculous though... it's not every day you see something complimenting someone on the "sports net"

jesus, he's one of the five people dead or alive you'd want to meet? Really? Seriously? Throughout the whole of human history, the writer of mgoblog has accomplished enough to make your list?

I believe the story is they put out two albums, one called "Homecoming" (because they were Americans living in England and the album was recorded in LA) and the next called "Hat Trick" (because there were 3 members) and they noticed and decided every album should start with H.

"Cook makes a six figure income from this site; thank you very much." Are you kidding me? The boy can't even afford a haircut!! He has to walk around with 80's rock band hair (just joking Brian, don't ban me)

Yeah, Brian...for sure, the stuff is great. I have to say that I've always been a big UM fan, but that has grown exponentially over the past 3 years in reading this blog. Being able to read analysis, news, etc. with sprinkled-in sarcasm/wit/whatever 365 days a year about the Maize and Blue is absolutely spectacular. Not only that, but being as I never played football myself, I've learned a lot from UFR. I actually did think to myself the other day, "I wonder if I'd be nearly as big of a Michigan fan if I had never come across this site. And what am I going to do for information when Brian turns 76 and can no longer manage MGoBlog 43.7?" I'm fairly certain that having a one-stop shop for info and analysis aimed directly at your team and a community of fans who can discuss the widest range of topics (*sigh* I miss Haloscan...especially the "coaching search" days of HaloScan) has contributed to a more knowledgeable and widespread fan base. Maybe in a small way, but for dudes like me who live near Chicago, getting college sports news is like pulling teeth...so MGoBlog OWNS!!! ***edit*** How many fan bases have incredibly awesome terms like TacoPants, OMG Shirtless, The Horror, Evil Henne/Robot Henne, YMRMFSPA, etc. that have become commonplace among readers/commenters? That stuff is just hilarious.
