Tyler Morris Has Committed to Michigan Comment Count

Seth April 20th, 2021 at 1:32 PM

JJ McCarthy will won’t have to mourn the loss of Xavier Worthy long, as his favorite high school target, IL 4* WR Tyler Morris, announced he’ll be joining his former QB in Ann Arbor for the 2022 season.

Michigan’s latest Nazareth Academy product is a smooth, slippery and athletic outside receiver who draws a lot of comparisons to Golden Tate. He’s listed at 6-0/175 and ranked in the top 100 to Rivals and 24/7, one of a pair of Illinois speedsters Josh Gattis has been after for the 2022 class since he arrived, the other being RB/WR Kaleb Brown, whom Michigan’s recruiting at slot receiver.

While Brown remains the subject of an ongoing tug-of-war with Ohio State, Morris came down to Michigan and Notre Dame. I’ll have a more complete scouting report tomorrow.

There is no content after the jump.

I love your optimism. I've been in your shoes before. Unfortunately, It doesn't work like that at Michigan. I'm willing to bet there's one or two NFL draft picks in that bunch, but the rest will be transfers or role players. The one or two that are NFL draft picks will be greatly underutilized and never reach their potential here. They'll win between 8-10 games every year, never win a Big 10 championship and likely lose to OSU all four years. Before you neg me, I will tell you that this is all reverse psychology, because being optimistic about Michigan Football and their new batch of kids doesn't work.

Some people on twitter are suggesting he recently injured his knee. Keeping fingers crossed it's either outright bunk or not serious if true.

Michigan's WR room is so loaded. Really excited to see more spread sets this year.

Warinner is a great coach and his running game had some great moments, but I think the schemes will be more coherent philosophically under Gattis and Moore. Less TEs and FBs for the running game should mean more snaps for the WRs. I expect the offense to look noticably faster this year.

As much as I wish Mason had been at Michigan earlier, I think it's better he's gone. Gattis obviously didn't really want to use him given they moved him to DL. He's not what prevented them from running the QB but still. Year 3  and we're still waiting to see what the offense is supposed to look like. If it's the same Harbaugh will be gone.

What in hell does this have to do with welcoming a kid into the Michigan family?

There are sites specifically for conversations about that kind of thing.  I know you'll be banned, for this, but my question is.....why do it in the first place?  This is a sports blog, man.  ?‍♂️
