Looks Like Uniformz For Penn State
As caught by an alert Joshua Henschke on twitter, the latest MDen catalog strongly implies that Michigan will wear alternate uniforms for the Penn State game:

I'm not surprised, I guess. I had just forgotten about the possibility of such a thing and was disappointed to remember we do this now.
I'm sure this will be sold as a throwback to some fictional time in the past when Michigan wore stripey numbers under coach Pterodactyl The Second and won the Big Ten thanks to their velociraptor riders, because Authenticity™.

i don't even give a shit about this stuff any more.
Is that they don't fuck with the helmets. I barely kept myself under control with the matte helmet for the 2013 Outback Bowl, and there was juuuuust enough tradition to get away with the helmet numbers that showed up in UTL1 and that the players liked, but the first chrome helmet I see...I riot.
We've gone through enough jerseys over the years that I don't feel too strongly about playing around with them every now and then as long as they don't go Full Maryland, but the helmets are neck-and-neck with The Victors for me in sacred Michigan symbology.
...certainly not bumblebee bad.
MY guess is the pants are going to be a dingy yellow/brown to represent the "old time" it'll be he color of the dark stripe in the numbers of the OP.
In the end, it's really not that bad. It's leather helmet days kind of stuff. I just wonder what our helmets are going to look like.

I am a fan of the alternate unis, I think it gives Michigan a fresh look and the kids like it. I know tradition blah blah wings blah blah it isn't Nike blah blah.. We always have our base uniform, let the kids have fun and stop being so anal about the whole thing.
I don't care how we look, we are still Michigan. I will still get goose bumps when the team takes the field, weather they have on the traditional uni or if the are wearing pink.
I always hear people say this; "the kids reallly like it". Thing is, I've never once heard a player, or recruit talk about how awesome the alternate jerseys are. Just the adults in charge of things, or those defending them. I wonder why that is...

First, most older fans who remember the simple Maize and Blue uniforms they associated with WINNING Michigan football are not inclined to like alternate uniforms on general principle. I'm part of that group.
Second, BDS, Brandon Derangement Syndrome, is in full effect. You combine the first with the second, and you get the scathing remarks. It also helps explain how people can complain about the open practice/scrimmage next weekend.
TUTUS! If you want to traffic in ridiculous hyperbole, you have to go all the way. It's pinking fucking TUTUS.
Why not just swap out Ronald's red for blue and make it into a football uniform?

Just one more cut that, with the others inflicted and to be inflicted by DB, will eventually lead to the loss of all my affection for UM football. The stadium "experience" has drained my desire to actually go to any games but MSU and OSU. I didn't go to school at a brand and I don't live or die on the results of a football brand. The black stripes on the arm are the worst. How long before DB will want us to sing Hurrah for the yellow, blue and black?

I don't completely agree with the whole "Dave Brandon is evil and does nothing right" sentiment that seems to be going around. I mean yeah, I don't exactly like him and think he's one more bad hire away from deserving the axe... but all the upgrades throughout the athletic campus have been great. At least I can say that for him.

It's entirely normal to periodically change the packaging of cheap delivery pizza. Why should Michigan football be any different? After all, kids love both things.
For every Real Madrid-Man U success that Brandon gives, he exacts a bumblebee uniform or two in return.
