A Lesser Blog Wouldn't Have Posted These: Harbaugh Presser Highlights Comment Count

Ace

You'd be excused—well, a little bit, at least—if you didn't sit through the nearly 40-minute-long Jim Harbaugh introductory presser. Adam already transcribed the entire thing, but if your attention span isn't cooperating, I've clipped a handful of the best moments from the most lighthearted presser in recent memory.

UNLIKE WHAT A CERTAIN FORMER ATHLETIC DIRECTOR WOULD HAVE YOU BELIEVE, YOU ONLY GET ONE

The look on Harbaugh's face as he's asked about his "firey personality" is priceless.

THE GO-GETTER

Great job, kid who stalked me through an airport.

(Alejandro, who does really excellent work for both the Daily and UMHoops, has made the requisite changes to his Twitter bio.)

HOW TO MAKE AN ENTRANCE

We hired a lunatic. A beautiful, magnificent lunatic.

KATIE DON'T CARE

Katie Harbaugh: also a real go-getter.

JIM HACKETT: BOSS

Yes, that's Hackett's voice coming from behind the podium.

WHO'S GOT IT BETTER THAN US?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOBODY.

You can find video of the presser in its entirety at MGoVideo.

He has two favorite expressions. The first is, "That would have, killed an ordinary man." He uses that to refer to almost every bad thing that happens to him. Not long ago he was knocked down on the football field. Everyone held his breath until Bo hopped up and said, "That would have killed an ordinary man." The other is, "Got it?" Every time Bo talks to you, you have to acknowledge you got it, got it?

From an old SI article.

In his kind words and recognition for Alejandro, I think JH made it clear that no matter whereever he is and whatever he's doing, he's never going to be able stop coaching.

Always Be Coaching.

in its entirety at work.

Unbelievable, I felt like a child on Christmas morning.

I also heard one of the "reporters" identify himself as a "Bleacher Report" writer.  The questions were a little bit disappointing. Lazy reporters asking leading questions about leaving the stupid NFL...

I did love it when Jimmy called out the young reporter from Metro airport. That was CLASSIC!

Guys, we are so fortunate.

He and his Michigan Daily colleagues have done a great job this year from the Gibbons story to the blood on his face article recently.  Nice to see Harbaugh acknowledge their efforts.

effort, hard work and excellence from ANYONE.  I read a story about him stopping and watching a traffic cop for a long period back in CA because the guy was so incredibly good at driecting traffic.  Harbaugh admires people who take pride in what they do.

Regarding "A lessor athlete..."  Im not sure if everyone knows this...but that comment from Harbaugh dates back to something that Bo once said.

Back in the 70s...Bo was walking at practice talking to someone and not looking at the field...all of a sudden a pass came flying his way and he got leveled by Thom Darden who was defending the pass.  Everyone gasped because they thought Bo got killed...

Bo bounced up...smiled and said "A lessor man would have been killed by that hit"

No doubt Bo influenced what Jim said at the presser the other day...

The thing is he was speaking infront of the most important people associated with the program and the university but he already owns the room. He's spoke to these people before, he grew up in front of these "kinds" of people. There is nothing foreign here. He can come in with no distractions, or at least none that he can't get away from with "I gotta get to work". I can't wait.
