Guarnera is a 6'4", 290 lb. center prospect from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, currently a 3* prospect to the 247 composite. The composite has him 457th, while the On3 consensus has him 412th. Michigan already had four OL prospects in the class, but none profiled as a center, which Jake Guarnera does. Sherrone Moore and Jim Harbaugh zeroed in on Guarnera, tabbing him as their choice of center prospect for this class and closed the deal rather quickly.
With Guarnera in the class, Michigan still has the #1 recruiting class in 2024, according to several of the sites. They are now up to five players in the OL class, leaving a potential sixth slot open for whatever elite prospect wants to jump on board. Guarnera will get his hello early next week. There is no content after the jump.
6'4" is fairly tall for a center no? Great pick up and the train keeps on rolling!!
Graham Glasgow was 6’6”. Vastardis was 6’3”. Crippen is 6’4”. Anderson is 6’3”. So 6’4” doesn’t really seem out of the ordinary

Don’t be too hard on the old guy, centers were 6’1” not long ago
Just turned 50. I remember 6'1" centers like it was a thing.
Agreed. This guy was 6'1"
He’ll be 6’1” by the time he graduates
69th rated player in Florida according to 24/7.
Nice....
At this point, absolute faith in the staff’s OL evaluation is justified, so this sounds good to me.
457th. . . but Moore wants him. Someone’s wrong, and I’m betting it ain’t the best O-line coach in college football.
Odd name for a center. I would’ve expected Centenera.
They talked about that a bit on the WTKA podcast yesterday. TLDR - elite OL prospects almost always play tackle in HS, because that's where HS teams put their best linemen. The result is guys who play Center in HS frequently get underrated. Recent history bears that out (Olu originally went to Air Force and Vastardis was a walk-on).
Ruiz was highly rated as a Center recruit, but he went to IMG which is one of the very rare high schools that can play multiple elite linemen.
Any other linemen they add now are just gravy on the top. We could lose anywhere from 2 to 7 linemen after this year. I’m hoping it’s just Keegan and Zinter but could include Jones, Barnhart, Hinton, Nugent and Henderson as well. That’s not including any transfers.
Probably going to be tough to keep Barnhart and Jones around for a sixth year in 2024.

Might even be tough to keep them both for this year. Only one is projected to start. Getting a 5th year guy with starting experience to stick around seems like a luxury. I suspect they haven't made a move since Henderson hasn't shown up to campus yet.

I had to read this like 5 times to realize its the third of the week not some completely false declaration that our class so far has only 3 players in it.
I had to re-read it a few times myself.
