Hunter Dickinson: Back
I theorized that NIL plus the prospect of making "too short gestures" at Tom Izzo while Julius Marble Joey Hauser tried to check him might tempt Hunter Dickinson away from his original plan of being a two-and-out player, and well looky here:

Dickinson's return is obviously massive for the team's prospects next year. Whatever his faults are on an NBA level, in college he's a dominant offensive force shooting 61% from the floor for his career.
Michigan is still waiting on draft declarations from Moussa Diabate and Caleb Houston, plus scattered rumors that someone else might hit the portal. Michigan is currently in heavy pursuit of Texas Tech transfer Terrance Shannon Jr., a Charles-Matthews-esque SG/wing with better shooting.
There is no content after the jump.
Awesome! Now how do we get him paid?
Deal was worked out last week. That’s why your commenting on the thread.
*you're
Right as in “you’re mom” I forgot
That's actually pretty good... Nicely done!
Or, better yet, Stiffler's mom.

I was worried I was going to have to put my T-shirt in deep storage for the day that it becomes a priceless momento, but now I get to wear it some more, and it will be on my back at the gym today.
Woohoo! Thank you, NIL.
Got dang!! Juicy jackpot!!
Leadership like this is so valuable.
This team is going to be on a mission.
WOW! Michigan's outlook just skyrocketed. Good for Hunter!
A picture is worth a thousand words 🤣
Great news from HD. Develop a solid backup so he doesn't have to play so many minutes and his efficiency will get even better. Let's see who else comes back.
Go Blue 🏀🏀🏀
Who is rumored to go into the portal?
Only names that have even circulated has been Bufkin and Barnes. Bufkin “supposedly” didn’t like his drop in minutes and Barnes didn’t play much. A lot has to do with the pursuit of Shannon I guess. We could use Shannon, Bufkin and Barnes next year honestly.
Hopefully not Bufkin.
That’s how I feel as well.
I've also heard some rumors about T Will. It may depend on what Caleb Houston decides.
Is it just me? I would rather keep TWill and let Caleb walk than the other way around. What I remember most from Caleb are missed shots and a surprising lack of hustle. I have a hard time seeing the NBA hype...
Hell yeah! My Big Dickinson Energy t-shirt gets a temporary reprieve before turning into a weird relic! Good for the basketball team, too.
With Kofi gone, as well as Liddell, TJD, Trevion and Bingham, it'll just be Hunter and Edey for the Big Ten final boss battle
That's huge! We could be stacked next year.
Are Diabate or Houstan realistic risks? Neither seem NBA ready.
There are complications with both of them being foreign and earning NIL money. So they’re more likely to go than Hunter even if it means spending time in the G-League. Whereas Hunter is probably in line to make as much, or more, from NIL as he would as a fringe NBA/G-League player.
The NBA also values young players with athletic upside (Diabate), shooting ability (Houstan in theory) and potential. “NBA Ready” isn’t necessarily a deciding factor for teams when drafting, especially outside of the first few picks.
Id say they’re both realistic risks to make the jump, but far from certainty to jump as well. Likely going to come down to what they value personally. If it were me, I’d declare for the draft with the intention of returning. Getting the feedback from the NBA would be pretty valuable for those two and there are obviously things to work on.
I think the NBA drafts more on potential than say the NFL draft where you want guys ready to play right away.
NIL is ruining NCAA sports. Look at this, players coming back, less talent drain. What are we going to do?!?

Saw Caleb Love is coming back to UNC and thought roughly the same thing, but you’ve said it better
Let’s be fair, though: this *is* kind of a bad consequence of NIL policies. For Michigan State.

Just like a snowstorm shows that global warming is a hoax!

haha, fair enough. But it is hard to argue that high end players staying in the league longer isn't a good consequence.
Best Big man in the country that isn’t a 1 or 2 and done. Love this decision.
He'll be the most hated man in the Big Ten next season, and he won't even have to punch anybody in the nuts to earn that status.
Let’s keep this good news coming. We got forward momentum on the basketball and football fronts
The salt from MSU fans about this is hilarious. They're making fun of him for coming back for his 3rd year and making 7 figures in NIL as if Izzo doesn't convince his players to do the same and that their lord and savior Cassius Winston didn't do the same
They'll be even saltier when Izzo keeps trying to single cover him with Hauser and Sissoko. He'll probably break his career high again against them
Good news. We still need a mobile wing who can get his own shots. And a shooting guard will who can also hit 3s with consistency. We need to make space for HD & bigs to work in the lane. If MD comes back would love to see him develop a solid 10-12’ shot capability to open up the hi-lo game for him & HD.
I suspect this is good news.
In my opinion, it is good news. I reckon you're more of an expert on that topic than I am, though.

Soooooooo goooooood.

HD! Now this is High Definition.
Yay!
Wait, is talk really that Houstan is gonna declare? Regardless this is massive. I had heard rumors but didn't believe it because he seemed to barely come back last year. Let's go.

The play on words was probably intentional, but the header should have been tweaked to read: "Hunter Dickinson's Back!"
April 25th, 2022 at 10:49 AM ^
Are we sure? From the Twitter picture, I think he might’ve taken that picture at a buffet. He’s holding his belly.
April 25th, 2022 at 12:27 PM ^
Last summer, he worked on developing a 3 point shot. Hopefully this summer he will work on his roll defense, hopefully just as successfully.
