Hello: Dylan McCaffrey
After much consideration, I am Very proud to announce I have committed to the University of Michigan! #GoBlue pic.twitter.com/spHPcFrQb5

Michigan has landed a commit from the top 2017 QB on their board, Dylan McCaffrey (Yes That McCaffrey). McCaffrey is the son of Ed and brother of Christian; he's 45th on the 247 composite, and the #2 pro-style QB in the country behind Clemson commit Hunter Johnston.
In McCaffrey, Michigan gets a 6'5" pocket passer with huge upside and excellent bloodlines; his early commit will hopefully allow him to recruit other gentlemen into the class. Michigan may still pursue a second quarterback in the class. If they do so he's likely to be a player like Gentry or Viramontes who could play another position if QB doesn't work out. More likely is that Michigan stands pat with McCaffrey and Peters in back to back classes.

Now someone needs to forward Dylan the twitter handles of Peoples-Jones, Nico Collins, Joseph Lewis, Isaih Wilson, Slaton & all our other offensive recruits.
Having a big time QB commit early is huge for recruiting the rest of the class. Lets turn this into a massive haul of talent.

This deserves the....
AND if he can recruit like Drew Henson did - Terrell, Walker, and Fargas - we could again have another #1 recruiting class!!!

This may be mentioned already somewhere in this thread, but Dylan tweeted last night that he committed early so he can work on building the class... and that his highest priority was Peoples-Jones!
That is more than awesome.

If you're a QB prospect, how do you not want to play for Harbaugh? Look at what he has done with every QB he's coached and it's clear if you want to get to the next level, Harbaugh gives you the best shot to get there.

What he did with Rudock still amazes me. Rudock really did look like a QB that could play in the NFL by the time of the Citrus Bowl. Who wouldn't want to play for Harbaugh, a former QB himself?

happening. I don't think that's the plan though and it's far from a sure thing he'd start off that high on the depth chart.

You get the feeling that pulling in the top recruits at each position is going to become the norm at Michigan under Harbaugh.
February 16th, 2016 at 10:30 AM ^
And that's actually the best way to evaluate a recruiting class . . . how well you did at each position of need.
If you get the top TE for example, and he is only #50 on the recruiting list, you still got the top TE. It does not matter that the guys in front of him are ranked higher, you can only take one or two guys at each position. You can't take 20 DT's just because they are ranked higher.
Michigan's 1998 class is a good example. It had the top one or two guys at at least 5 different positions (and they all worked out, no busts!). They were essentially the core of the class that beat Alabama in the Orange Bowl.

6'5 pocket passer, you say? I'm on board.
Here's to hoping he develops his neck-to-head ratio.

originally came from the golden throat of Keith Jackson.
Berman may have used it, but I'm certain he wasn't the first.

Dave Pearson hit #27 on about the 16, pushing him back to the 10. Then Baas hit #27 at the 8, giving Navarre just enough room to run past him.
Matt Lentz had pushed #25 almost out of bounds. #25 had the best shot at Navarre after getting up, but whiffed on the tackle at about the 18. Four OL>2 DBs.

Fully-developed Navarre, circa 2003, was awesome. He beat Ohio State by 2 TD's and it wasn't even that close.
He was thrown into the fray before he was ready because we lost Henson unexpectedly.

I hope he doesn't repeatedly drop straight back under pressure for a 12 yard sack. Navarre and Henne were pros at that.
