I love Darius as a player but he isn't ready.  I don't think he is even that close.  It isn't a knock but he needs time to mature, get stronger, develop his left hand a bit more and get a servicable jump shot.

Don't forget the NBA's favorite word potential. Look how much Darius improved between his first and second year. The NBA wonders how much more he'll improve over the next year. He can be drafted on that alone, rember Darko Millicic, that's all he was, hype and potential. That being said Morris certainly needs to stay at least one more year...but if he hears enough chatter about his potential, he may take the bait. Let's hope he's smarter than that.

Come on. No attritubution at all in that piece. I put more stock in that ranking, not the editorializing that he's leaning to turning pro. I doubt that.

Besides, John Beilein does not put players into the NBA.  So, that cant be right

if he wants to leave then let him. There is nothing we can do to change his mind! We are bringing in two recuirts that can lead this BB Team to great things. GO BLUE!!!

Just because there's a link, doesn't mean the information is worth posting. Not saying the info is necessarily wrong, but I have zero reason to believe the author considering I have no idea who he is, what is connections are, etc.

Hi,

Please don't put words in my mouth or assume what I'm saying. No one here seems to have any idea who Aran Smith is and the site is clearly just a mock draft site. There is no evidence that Smith has spoken to Darius Morris and this claim has been echoed by no one. And I mean NO ONE. So, I think I'm safe in assuming that I can lend no credence to this guy mmmkay?

Thanks,

I love how all the posts voicing reason and logic and "umm, maybe we should calm down a second" are getting negged.

One guy says he thinks that Darius is leaning towards leaving...one guy, with a completely unattributed statement.  Just because I think that Elliot from Scrubs is leaning toward having relations with me tonite doesn't mean I have a goddamn clue what I am talking about.

NBADraft.net is garbage. Always has been.

Their NBA comparisons for prospect are based almost entirely on race and appearance. They compared Gerald Green to Tracy McGrady out of high school just because they both have droopy eyes.

DON'T YOU GO TALKING BAD ABOUT GERALD!

But yeah, as your resident Gerald Green fan (see avatar), he was indeed compared to TMac by that site, and just about every site out there. He was the #1 high school prospect in the country for a reason.

Those comparisions really ruined his game though because he never had the ball handling skills to be a slasher, and instead should have focused on being a shooter. Coaches like Doc Rivers kept giving him the ball though and telling him to go create for himself, and he just never was very good at that.[/rant]

He's been in Russia this year and last year (came back briefly to try out for the Lakers, but didn't perform well in summer league). Was fantastic last year in Russia, has been dreadful so far this year.

The kid is a talented shooter, but ego problems got him early, and an inability to distingish a good shot from a bad shot has remained a problem for way too long. A lot of his problems could be solved if someone who really understood his strengths and weaknesses simply sat down and talked to him. I feel bad because by all accounts he's a good kid, but at the same time he's still making millions over in Europe, not too bad for a 20-something year old.

Before Mr. Morris decides to try the NBA Draft he might wish to consult with Tito and Al Horford, Tim Hardaway and Joe Dumars. He has access to some people that could give him a realistic view of his chances at this point in time. Especially Tim Hardaway and Joe Dumars seeing how they played his position in the league. smh.

morris has been great, but really he has played about 20 games at a high level in his career and this year is still the 4th or 5th best PG in the league behind Lucas, battle, moore and taylor.

this was discussed on umhoops, and I'm pretty sure it was almost completely discredited...lotta people there are either in close contact with the team, coaches, or people in the know about college hoops, and not many of them seemed to consider it legit...at least it was established that Darius has said nothing to this extent publicly or to anyone not close to him

I bet beilein always thought that Morris would go after his junior year which is why he has recruited some point guards hard (and has gotten committed). But going after his sophomore year could really screw some things up....
