Darius Morris Leaning Towards Entering 2011 Draft
The title says it all. This would kill the team if he were to leave early. Lets hope he stays and develops so he can be a lottery pick.

I love Darius as a player but he isn't ready. I don't think he is even that close. It isn't a knock but he needs time to mature, get stronger, develop his left hand a bit more and get a servicable jump shot.
February 21st, 2011 at 11:52 PM ^
"mature, get stronger, develop his left hand a bit more and get a servicable jump shot."
thanks for the keen basketball insight you regurgitating idiot. watch basketball and stop listening to other people's generic commentary.
February 22nd, 2011 at 10:16 AM ^
Turns out saying things like "doesn't have a good jump shot" and "relatively weak left hand" actually constitutes basketball analysis because basketball isn't fucking rocket science.
February 22nd, 2011 at 1:45 PM ^
And that's why it's so baffling that so many people can misdiagnose a perceived weakness. Basketball is not rocket science. Darius could not put up his numbers without a strong left hand.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:02 PM ^
Don't forget the NBA's favorite word potential. Look how much Darius improved between his first and second year. The NBA wonders how much more he'll improve over the next year. He can be drafted on that alone, rember Darko Millicic, that's all he was, hype and potential. That being said Morris certainly needs to stay at least one more year...but if he hears enough chatter about his potential, he may take the bait. Let's hope he's smarter than that.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:08 PM ^
Come on. No attritubution at all in that piece. I put more stock in that ranking, not the editorializing that he's leaning to turning pro. I doubt that.
Besides, John Beilein does not put players into the NBA. So, that cant be right
February 21st, 2011 at 2:09 PM ^
#60 ranking, no-name site, weasel words all over Darius Morris's blurb. I call BS.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:12 PM ^
if he wants to leave then let him. There is nothing we can do to change his mind! We are bringing in two recuirts that can lead this BB Team to great things. GO BLUE!!!
February 21st, 2011 at 2:13 PM ^
Let's get a "Unbased Rumor:" tag added to the title of this thread.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:13 PM ^
Just because there's a link, doesn't mean the information is worth posting. Not saying the info is necessarily wrong, but I have zero reason to believe the author considering I have no idea who he is, what is connections are, etc.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:26 PM ^
I agree with your first point but your last sentence is just wrong. Because you haven't heard of someone or their sources you give it no credence? That is dumb.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:29 PM ^
Hi,
Please don't put words in my mouth or assume what I'm saying. No one here seems to have any idea who Aran Smith is and the site is clearly just a mock draft site. There is no evidence that Smith has spoken to Darius Morris and this claim has been echoed by no one. And I mean NO ONE. So, I think I'm safe in assuming that I can lend no credence to this guy mmmkay?
Thanks,
wlubd

What you said was just that. Maybe you should be more careful when writing your posts in the future.
February 21st, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
Pardon me for not wanting to write an essay outlining my exact beliefs on each thread when I can just condense it in to a couple sentences that someone interprets differently from what I meant.
Truly sorry.
February 21st, 2011 at 6:37 PM ^
Eh, not accepted.
February 21st, 2011 at 6:50 PM ^
If you didn't accept the disingenuous apology, does that by default mean you accept a genuine one?
Cool. We good then G.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:17 PM ^
I love how all the posts voicing reason and logic and "umm, maybe we should calm down a second" are getting negged.
One guy says he thinks that Darius is leaning towards leaving...one guy, with a completely unattributed statement. Just because I think that Elliot from Scrubs is leaning toward having relations with me tonite doesn't mean I have a goddamn clue what I am talking about.
February 21st, 2011 at 10:53 PM ^
I've seen better.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:19 PM ^
Dong=punched
February 21st, 2011 at 2:25 PM ^
It's not real, so punch yourself in the dong again for believing it.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:20 PM ^
I hope he saw what happenned to Manny and Peedi last year and stick around. The road gets really, really tough if you don't get drafted.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:24 PM ^
NBADraft.net is garbage. Always has been.
Their NBA comparisons for prospect are based almost entirely on race and appearance. They compared Gerald Green to Tracy McGrady out of high school just because they both have droopy eyes.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:27 PM ^
Link so I can confirm your wild accusations.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:48 PM ^
Uh, there's nothing wild about it. It's what they said. Green's bio on the site is now a Page Not Found.
Look at the site yourself and it won't take long to spot several ludicrous comparisons made for purely superficial reasons.
February 21st, 2011 at 5:28 PM ^
DON'T YOU GO TALKING BAD ABOUT GERALD!
But yeah, as your resident Gerald Green fan (see avatar), he was indeed compared to TMac by that site, and just about every site out there. He was the #1 high school prospect in the country for a reason.
Those comparisions really ruined his game though because he never had the ball handling skills to be a slasher, and instead should have focused on being a shooter. Coaches like Doc Rivers kept giving him the ball though and telling him to go create for himself, and he just never was very good at that.[/rant]
February 22nd, 2011 at 12:21 AM ^
He now out of the league... D-League I think.
February 22nd, 2011 at 5:46 AM ^
He's been in Russia this year and last year (came back briefly to try out for the Lakers, but didn't perform well in summer league). Was fantastic last year in Russia, has been dreadful so far this year.
The kid is a talented shooter, but ego problems got him early, and an inability to distingish a good shot from a bad shot has remained a problem for way too long. A lot of his problems could be solved if someone who really understood his strengths and weaknesses simply sat down and talked to him. I feel bad because by all accounts he's a good kid, but at the same time he's still making millions over in Europe, not too bad for a 20-something year old.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:30 PM ^
Let's hope that this is a bogus "source"
February 21st, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
I used to think Darius was pretty good until reading this thread.
February 21st, 2011 at 2:43 PM ^
Before Mr. Morris decides to try the NBA Draft he might wish to consult with Tito and Al Horford, Tim Hardaway and Joe Dumars. He has access to some people that could give him a realistic view of his chances at this point in time. Especially Tim Hardaway and Joe Dumars seeing how they played his position in the league. smh.
February 21st, 2011 at 3:14 PM ^
Dumars was a shooting guard...
February 21st, 2011 at 2:56 PM ^
Left hand stay in college for two more years?
February 21st, 2011 at 3:15 PM ^
please
February 21st, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
Someone should point out to him what happened to the last Wolverine that entered the draft earlier than they should've
February 21st, 2011 at 3:29 PM ^
entering the draft. No additional discussion is necessary.
February 21st, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
He has the same chance as Justin Bieber of playing in the NBA.
February 21st, 2011 at 3:36 PM ^
morris has been great, but really he has played about 20 games at a high level in his career and this year is still the 4th or 5th best PG in the league behind Lucas, battle, moore and taylor.
February 21st, 2011 at 3:51 PM ^
this was discussed on umhoops, and I'm pretty sure it was almost completely discredited...lotta people there are either in close contact with the team, coaches, or people in the know about college hoops, and not many of them seemed to consider it legit...at least it was established that Darius has said nothing to this extent publicly or to anyone not close to him
February 21st, 2011 at 5:02 PM ^
It was in the comments of a post, and kinda towards the end I believe..Pretty busy at work today and gonna be a late one, so I might be a little while, but maybe someone else saw it?
February 21st, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
Denard is transferring!?
February 21st, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
mods? OP?
February 21st, 2011 at 4:17 PM ^
Tim Hardaway Jr. is the better prospect right now. You want to worry about someone, worry about him.
February 21st, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
I bet beilein always thought that Morris would go after his junior year which is why he has recruited some point guards hard (and has gotten committed). But going after his sophomore year could really screw some things up....
February 21st, 2011 at 5:47 PM ^
I see you decided to keep the title...
You could have saved yourself some points and followed peep's advice, yo.
February 21st, 2011 at 6:40 PM ^
Saved points? Why do people keep referencing this? Negs don't count. Stupid.
