Michigan offers NC RB Keith Marshall
Rivals is now reporting that Michigan has offered NC RB Keith Marshall...concensus top 5 player in the country next year. I'll post more info as it comes in. There's a thread on him at GBW, and it's fairly positive, but I won't reveal specifics.

Now THAT film is impressive. Marshall's film is the BEST I have seen in easily a few years. This kid is a major stud. Check out the film at 1:30, you'd think its Barry Sanders Sr. Mark my words that this kid Marshall will make the NFL and do well.... he has great elusivity combined with the speed and the thick legs. A future star, he is. I hope he is high on us.

to land him. Maybe if we have a great season with a good bowl win we can get him. DG what do you think it will take to land him?
February 15th, 2011 at 7:43 PM ^
A loooot. This kid has scholarship offers from most of the country. But I certainly think we have a shot with him.
February 15th, 2011 at 7:45 PM ^
Auburn offered him a $6 million for 3 years.
February 15th, 2011 at 8:00 PM ^
Damn, they think they can get him at under the SEC maximum?
February 15th, 2011 at 10:31 PM ^
Don't be silly. Everyone knows there's no salary cap in the SEC.
February 15th, 2011 at 8:05 PM ^
They wanted to put the franchise tag on him. They weren't willing to commit to more than a year with him.
February 15th, 2011 at 9:36 PM ^
This would REALLY be funny if I didn't think it might be true. That said I'm going to pay attention to either the NFL labor issue (who doesn't love to watch millionaires quarrel with billionaires?) or the Albert Pujols contract drama (will he really turn down $225 million because he wants $300 million?). That man sure as shit better not get hurt this season.
February 15th, 2011 at 9:49 PM ^
I heard Auburn is up against the SEC salary cap.
February 15th, 2011 at 7:45 PM ^
Bama, Georgia, NC, NC State, Miami (FL), whoever the NC will be, and Michigan in his top 10
February 15th, 2011 at 8:01 PM ^
you say we have a shot at him, what kind of shot.I'm sure the sec will be opening up thier checkbooks on this one.GO BLUE!!!
February 15th, 2011 at 8:07 PM ^
Probably the same shot Lloyd Christmas had with Mary Samsonite.
February 15th, 2011 at 8:22 PM ^
...there's..a....chance...??
February 15th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
I'd prefer the 1 in a thousand chances to the 1 in a million, naturally.
February 15th, 2011 at 8:09 PM ^
Right now, I'd say slim. But this kid is going to let his recruitment play out. We could end up figuring prominently into his final group.
February 15th, 2011 at 9:12 PM ^
Is it true that he is favoring UGA at this time?
February 15th, 2011 at 11:26 PM ^
Thanks for the tease DGDestroys.... first you say its fairly positive, and now that its slim? That film of him is by far the best film I have seen of a recruit in a long time, and now my hopes are gonna lead to a letdown. Can you divulge a little more on why the thread was positive?
February 15th, 2011 at 11:53 PM ^
WHY DON'T YOU USE SPACES AFTER PUNCTUATION?
February 16th, 2011 at 1:05 AM ^
I'll turn this damn bus around! That'll end your precious field trip pretty damn quick!
February 15th, 2011 at 7:42 PM ^
5 star players
who work out (pun intended)
William Campbell - I'm looking at you.
February 15th, 2011 at 7:44 PM ^
Big Will hasn't been Hoke-ized yet. Give him time.
February 15th, 2011 at 7:46 PM ^
I don't think anyone can
Though hopefully Hoke and Mattison can teach him some actual defense.
February 15th, 2011 at 7:54 PM ^
Campbell's problem is technique. If Mattison and Hoke can't get him to play low then no one will be able to.
February 15th, 2011 at 8:03 PM ^
significantly if he came into camp in the best shape of his life. This after an off-season of also obsessively practicing the technique the coaches drill him in during spring
February 15th, 2011 at 9:12 PM ^
If Campbell and Washington can man the nose adequately, Martin could reak havoc at the 3 technique.
February 15th, 2011 at 9:18 PM ^
there goes my Pizza Hut lunch buffet plans with Campbell. We were gonna shut it down.
February 15th, 2011 at 9:23 PM ^
Enjoy.

Maybe I'm being an overly optimistic homer, but I think we're going to get at least 2 and maybe a handful of 5 stars in this class.
February 15th, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
What are you smoking? I think you are being way too optimistic. I don't think we had more than 2 5*s sign in one season with Carr.
edit: Just confirmed, we haven't had more than 2 5*s since 2002 at least (records on Rivals only go back that far)
February 15th, 2011 at 8:08 PM ^
I'm just wearing maize colored glasses today. If (and I'm not a guru, so maybe my hopes are way off) we land RJS and Diamond, aren't they both possible 5 stars? Then, if we land O'Brien...maybe he's another? I think there are a couple other very high ratings guy that have us (realistically) in their top choices.
February 15th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
RJS and O'Brien...probably not. Diamond...maybe, but probably not.
February 15th, 2011 at 8:29 PM ^
will be in the middle, while Dan O'Brien might be in the top 100.Jordan Diamond should be in the top 100 also.
February 15th, 2011 at 9:15 PM ^
Jordan Diamond will be in the top 100. IMO, he will most likely end up somewhere around 50 or so. That could be good enough for 5 stars on Scout, but not for Rivals which generally awards fewer five stars.
February 15th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
By the way...8 teams had 2 or more 5 stars this year. Three had more than 2 (including Clemson...Clemson???...with 4). Given that I expect a top ten finish next year, I'm going to hold onto the my optimism...phantom negs be damned!
February 15th, 2011 at 9:52 PM ^
RR approves of this message
February 15th, 2011 at 8:10 PM ^
Hi, overly optimistic homer.
February 15th, 2011 at 8:31 PM ^
seem to be initially interested in Michigan. Which is a good thing. Maybe that's why people seem to gravitate to the possibility that these type of athletes have a good chance of ending up at Michigan.
I'm gonna go grab another beer and see if anyone throws out a "book it".
February 15th, 2011 at 9:11 PM ^
just kidding it will take a lot to get this kid
February 15th, 2011 at 9:38 PM ^
Hi, negative "expert"
February 15th, 2011 at 8:39 PM ^
We had two committed last year
February 15th, 2011 at 9:06 PM ^
Really? I didn't know that Frost was every committed. And Hart...yeah...he wasn't at all wishy-washy. Never changed his mind, moved dates, played games...In retrospect, it doesn't seem like Hart was coming here. He even said (when he was committed) that he didn't care about a coaching change because he could play in any system. Hopefully, we don't have as much drama in future recruiting, but I can't imagine that to be the case.
February 15th, 2011 at 10:06 PM ^
Frost was definitely committed up until the last minute.
February 15th, 2011 at 7:45 PM ^
Does he have any connections to schools that might give them the edge in his recruitment?
February 15th, 2011 at 7:45 PM ^
Big Will is off playing special teams. 2 years and seen nothing out of him.
February 16th, 2011 at 1:01 AM ^
Use the reply button, then everybody knows what you're responding to.
February 15th, 2011 at 7:46 PM ^
Yeah, but we got Thomas Rawls.
February 15th, 2011 at 7:52 PM ^
Kid is a stud and he's from my neck of the woods (I don't really talk like that). I'll be rooting for him wherever he goes.
edit: where the hell is my alma mater at in his highlights? We play in the same conference as Millbrook and we were terrible.
February 15th, 2011 at 7:54 PM ^
Good thing he looks like a gamer because his highlight song is weak as hell. Time to get him up here and expose him to a little Apollo Brown, The Left and Bronze Nazareth.
February 15th, 2011 at 7:49 PM ^
which leads me to believe that he is not from Habsburg lineage. I have nothing more to add.
