KY QB Zeke Pike Interested in Michigan
Rivals is reporting (behind paywall) that KY QB Zeke Pike has interest in seeing/visiting UM this spring for an unofficial. Most of the article behind the paywall pertains to Florida State (they just offered) but the end says this:
"I feel like FSU and Michigan are two schools I definitely want to get over and look at," he said. "I will probably take some (unofficial) visits there in the spring, as well as Florida and Miami."
Kid has some impressive offers and can go basically anywhere he wants.

but Hurray for optimism!

Only too late.

Pike would be a great coup for UM and definitely a sign that this staff is a very good recruitng one. I still don't think we'll end up getting Pike, but still this is a positive sign that the Michigan brand is still very much intact

His film was fantastic. This would be amazing.
February 11th, 2011 at 4:16 PM ^
Wow!! At about the .20 mark he gets out and blocks about 3 guys in front of his RB. I would love for this guy to go Blue.
He's officially on my wish list.
February 11th, 2011 at 4:22 PM ^
He puts his blocking in his highlight tape. Awesome
Let's get him on campus and get him interested
February 11th, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
I think he's already interested, now it's time to get him to commit.
There are a few QBs that I wouldn't mind seeing go blue. Fact is, even if we have Gardner, it never hurts to have some depth. This guy looks like an absolute stud and it never hurts to have another stud in your stable.
I'm absolutely chuffed that we're on his early list of schools he's interested in though.
February 11th, 2011 at 5:11 PM ^
...officially echo that sentiment. He looks like a man among boys and you can tell he likes the contact Jim McMahon style.
February 11th, 2011 at 8:42 PM ^
Old School Jim McMahon reference. Well played.
February 11th, 2011 at 4:16 PM ^
I love his blocking during the second play starting at :14. He can throw, run and block.
February 11th, 2011 at 4:25 PM ^
Batman. You guys posted the same thing at the same time. Too funny. Probably need to lay off the mind melds. Just saying...
February 11th, 2011 at 4:17 PM ^
Dude is huge
February 11th, 2011 at 5:08 PM ^
WOW...Not too often you see a kid in his junior year at his size move like that. He's athletic, got a rocket for an arm, tough nosed (pile drive blocking 3 guys in 1 play), plays LB and only going to get better.
After seeing this....I WANT THIS KID IN A WINGED HELMET GOSH DAMN IT!!!!
February 11th, 2011 at 4:07 PM ^
This kids offer sheet is absolutely, stupidly amazing. It's great that he's considering Michigan. Whether he comes here or not, it can't hurt to be in the discussion.
February 11th, 2011 at 4:08 PM ^
I already like this kid.

Which pledge class?

Phi class here.

"Dude!" "Sweet!"
Heck yeah, brosef!

I graduated from osu a couple of years ago, alpha rho chapter.

Could you imagine? We would perhaps have the greatest QB depth in the country.
Devin Gardner and Zeke Pike competing to be the starting QB can only mean we win as fans. I doubt he comes but a man can dream!
February 11th, 2011 at 4:14 PM ^
And both might be behind a senior Denard Robinson.
February 11th, 2011 at 4:34 PM ^
Assuming that Devin is granted the medical RS, he would have 3 years left when Pike steps on campus. Do you see this as something that would deter Pike? Or, is this kid so good that he wouldn't look at depth charts?

February 11th, 2011 at 5:20 PM ^
I'm not sure if I agree with you here. When there's only one starting spot (like the QB position), I definitely think kids look at the depth chart. This might not apply to a school that has a steady flow of NFL quarterback talent (like USC, for example) because the kids have a pretty good idea that they'll get a shot at the NFL whenever their time does come.
But you'll often see a team take a stud quarterback . . . then take a mediocre quarterback for a year or two . . . then get another stud quarterback. There's a reason that Kevin Sousa was the quarterback most interested in playing at Michigan, and not someone like Christian LeMay or Braxton Miller . . .
I think it's a little bit different at, say, running back or wide receiver, because at least two or three guys are going to get significant playing time each game. But I think most quarterbacks take a long, hard look at the depth chart.

Hmm....We could land both a Biegel and a Pike. Are animalistic last names our new recruiting niche?
February 11th, 2011 at 5:03 PM ^
I actually recently heard that we may have some interest from 4* TX S Dontravious Kitty.
February 11th, 2011 at 5:26 PM ^
Biegel and Kitty. If we were to land them and they weren't roommates...
February 11th, 2011 at 4:13 PM ^
I feel like he would probably want to go to a school where he can see the field before he is a red shirt junior. But realistically all of those schools he mentioned will be at similar places with their Qbs as they all brought in highly touted qbs.
February 11th, 2011 at 4:21 PM ^
at QB. Plus I like his name. Have we ever had a Zeke play here? (At least in the last 50 years).
February 11th, 2011 at 4:25 PM ^
I think it's going to be another year until our depth chart is suitable enough to entice a blue chip QB. Unless they go through spring practice and decide that Gardner somehow isn't the QB of the future, I think they'll start scouring the country for a 5* 2013 guy.
February 11th, 2011 at 5:03 PM ^
Hoke can find that right here in state.
February 11th, 2011 at 5:30 PM ^
That kid is pretty impressive. I would have liked to see him take a couple snaps under center, but he can certainly make all the throws.
February 11th, 2011 at 4:24 PM ^
Let's turn this interest into an official visit!
February 11th, 2011 at 4:29 PM ^
Looks like Hoke is gone fishing for some...
... zeke pike
YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

He likes Michigan....Michigan likes you too! xoxoxo

That was the point...

February 11th, 2011 at 4:35 PM ^
Could that be Tebow 2.0? Gotta love the blocking mentality!
February 11th, 2011 at 4:36 PM ^
We need to get this kid on campus this spring. Michigan's campus probably does a better job at selling to recruits than just about any coach could. Get him on campus, preferably in spring, and reel in some Pike.
February 11th, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
All prospects that are offered UM shollies are "interested" in Michigan.
February 11th, 2011 at 5:05 PM ^
Devin Gardner, especially if he's granted his redshirt..Scares Pike Away..
February 11th, 2011 at 5:11 PM ^
He's an athlete and going by his offer sheet he's one of the best at his position in the country. I doubt he's afraid of competition.
February 11th, 2011 at 5:14 PM ^
Is he related to the Pike at Cincinnati?
February 11th, 2011 at 5:25 PM ^
No. There's been some confusion about that but he's not. Just same last name and similar size, playing style
