If somebody bet you that Michigan wouldn't allow an offensive TD...
If somebody bet you that Michigan's defense would not yield a touchdown against Purdue, what would you have put up? Even accounting for Purdue's injuries and the horrible weather, I could not have imagined a circumstance in which this defense kept an opposing offense out of the end zone. I would have bet my car that Purdue would get an offensive TD. So, kudos to GERG and company. Purdue or not, crappy weather or not, the defense played well today.

I think my first thought would be:

you can say that the Michigan D outscored the Purdue offense 7-6

Another, yes...another great effort by the defense! Now, can we get a result in at least one of the next two games? I vote, yes!

I'm not blaming our offensive issues today entirely on the weather. Purdue has the best pass rush in the conference and showed it again today. I also thought we played into their hands by going very, very conservative offensively in the second half when Denard was in. They were able to stop our run game on first and second down and then the pass rush did its work on 3rd down.

Putz on the Angry Michigan Weather Hating False God you proclaim here, he did nothing but provide us with a win! (Great picture though!!!!)

do not tease the Angry Michigan (blank) hating god! Gerg will be bald tomorrow morning!

Denard didn't have a good game today. The offense showed again that it has a hard time finishing drives. They need to take care of the ball. If we can do that next week, we should be alright, but if we start turning it over, it's gonna get really ugly...

What makes it even crazier is that we had five turnovers, a couple on our own side of the field.
November 13th, 2010 at 8:39 PM ^
Plus two virtual turnovers with the missed 4th down conversion and Robinson's punt.

One turnover actually did occur on the missed 4th down (Hopkins fumbled).

They have one of the worst offenses in the country, let alone the B10. That's why I'm not ready to herald the Second Coming of the Michigan Defense.

but we have let some not so good offenses put up damn good numbers on us previously this year. UConn, Umass, Notre Dame....Regardless of the fact that this offense is not so good, our defense actually made them look not so good, which is a step in the right direction if you ask me.
I am not saying I think we have solved all our problems by any means, but to ignore the fact that we have seen some progress on defense over the past three weeks (from PSU to now) is as absurd as believing we are now a top ten defense.
Let's just be reasonable and enjoy the fact that finally, we are seeing some much needed progress on the defensive side of the ball. Also remember, we did this without Mike Martin for the vast majority of the game. It smells a lot like progress to me. I just hope it continues.

UCONN didn't put up damn good numbers on us.

our defense is starting to look competent. Even in allowing 65 points last week we looked much better than we did against Penn State. The position changes while at first a point of contention look to be paying off.

either Mike Martin or Jonas Mouton. I think Van Bergen and Roh were big today.

Congratulations to James Rogers, really nice to see him have his "Sheridan against Minnesota" moment today as a senior.
