OTish: UConn Implosion Continues
QB Cody Endres has been suspended for the rest of the season. You may remember Endres as the QB Michigan did not see in the home-opener due to reported drug possession/usage issues that were deemed "team rule violations" by the school.
This news comes on the feet of news that Erik Kuraczea, a starting guard on the UConn football team, who was suspended similarly to Endres for activities and games starting the season, has decided to transfer effective immediately.
Injuries have plagued the squad and hopes of a Big East championship were squandered as the team struggled after their Michigan loss, losing to Temple and, after convincing wins against Buffalo and Vanderbilt, being stunned by a 2-2 Rutgers squad that lost to Tulane.
So, I mean... it could be worse, right?
Small Aside: Shavodrick Beaver has still failed to play any meaningful minutes this year, throwing a total of 5 times for 35 yards and rushing 19 times for 98 yards.

that we should be happy we're not in the same boat as a team that was all but irrelevant until 10 years ago?

i'm saying a team that had 3 pre-season All America players and huge hopes/expectations to win the Big East has faced complications and problems that make the current growing pains UM is experiencing look like kids play. they have all the depth and talent and have been torpedoed. it's a shame and makes me happier to see UM at 5-2. TIA

J/K, of course it could be worse. I think we all remember the dark times of 2008.

I thought that UConn was overrated to start the season but this is worse than I expected them to be.

Outside the athletic department, too, if you're open to unsubstantiated rumors:

Are you kidding? EMU's improvement is remarkable. Their winning percentage is infinitely greater than it was last season!

I mean I know Tulane is awful, obviously, but must you call their name out in italics?
I am le sad...
....fun fact, the last I-A team to go undefeated in Louisiana was Tulane, suck on that LSU....

but yes. Tulane gets italicized. they just lost 52-14 to Tulsa. they went 3-9 last year, 2-10 in 2008 and 4-8 in 2006 and 2007. and 2-10 in 2005, 5-7 in 2003 and 2004, and 8-5 in 2002. they haven't been above .500 since they beat Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl that year.

Was the reason I pointed it out, I had hoped for some compassion from you of anyone. It certainly isn't like there was a major hurricane in the middle of those years that set the program back further.
I've never been a fan of Bob Toledo but at least the school administration is noticing that the whole de-emphasis of athletics doesn't work and is pouring funding in, making changes for athletes to make it easier to schedule classes, building new facilities (bball / vball), and currently working on the funding to get the team back on campus. They're certainly bad now, but at least the higher ups are finally getting it and trying to revive a dormat program in a recruiting hot-bed of a city. Team would certainly improve if they took the whole, "state of Miami" recruiting philosophy and applied it to New Orleans.

took a rapid decline and I wouldn't put it all on Katrina. the Athletic Department (IMO) is to blame for that but it looks like changes are looming with the new stadium plans, etc. hell, i went to half the baseball home games last year and even that has taken a hit. i wish the best for Tulane in the future but they definitely have a ways to go - perhaps only sped up by sinking the money into hiring a big name a la ECU

There are/have been many people within the AD office that I'd like to replace. I'm just glad that athletics is no longer an afterthought to the board and the rest of the people who make decisions.
And it pains me to see baseball struggle, when most of Tulane's best players were transfers it kills that system when you make them have to sit out a year like basketball and football. Jones needs to do a better job finding off the radar players who dont command mlb dollars during the draft. (good luck with that) Also I think I missed maybe 5 home games tops from the 08 and 09 seasons so if you were at any of those games I was too.

Congrats to helping to usher Rutgers back to the cave of fail they emerged from for their 15 minutes of mediocrity.
And F-you for not covering 18.5 against Tulsa.

Shaun King was amazing:
244/364 (67.0%) for 3495 yards and 38 TD vs. 6 INT. 156 carries for 633 yards and 11 TD
QB Coach:

I missed it... where did this meme come from?
October 20th, 2010 at 3:58 PM ^
it came from the deep dark corners of Dark Blue's brain. Or maybe it came from The Brain Cook. I forget

Gotcha, unrelated but I read that Legend of the Melmet... and quite frankly, it was ridiculously awesome.
October 20th, 2010 at 6:11 PM ^
Honestly, The Last Prophet did most of the work, but yeah it was awesome.

Since we beat them, I was hoping the Huskies would go on to a good season and validate our win. Oh well. I still think it was a nice opening victory.

Too bad ND didn't hire Edsall
October 20th, 2010 at 4:34 PM ^
My next door neighbor asserted three weeks ago—when we were 5-0—that RR is gone after this season and that Edsall was near or at the top of the list to replace him.
October 20th, 2010 at 4:39 PM ^
Good thing SU didn't.
Instead we hired Doug Marrone, who once ate three 72-oz. steaks in one hour. He spent the first 45 minutes having sex with the waitress.

I go to UConn, bleed maize and blue, but I will be able to find out what exactly happened with Endres, courtesy of the contacts I have here.

Didn't get accepted to a school that's accredited?

and can put 2:1 odds he failed another drug test after already being on suspension earlier in the season for it.

That's what I'm banking on.
