If You Thought We Were Overreacting
If you thought we were overreacting last night with the "OMG Defense - We Are Doomed!" posts despite us winning; take a look at how NDNation is in meltdown mode after their sloppy win against an abysmal BC squad.
I think ND might make into TWIS this week even after a W - I am not sure whether that has ever happened.
To follow the choicest bits of conversations - follow the links below:
1. "Anyone else feel dead inside?"

2. "Screaming at the players got to me tonight. It happened"

I totally recommend NDNation as a good replacement for the old Sunday newspaper funny pages - ND wins or loses, it always has stuff that makes me smile.

Not to be too picky (i.e. to be extremely picky) I'd suggest editing your post to actually refer to Boston College instead of the fictional BD.
As for TWIS, I haven't read any UF message boards but I'd bet that they're full of great schadenfreude. They got beat and bad, and Urban Meyer had a few very questionable decisions along with some poor turnovers.

Thanks.

The most apoplectic fan base out there has to be Georgia hands down.

I don't think this can be pinned on Addazio alone, though. Meyer is the guy pulling the strings, and he must have had a big hand in the game plan. Florida really looked lost without Demps at full strength.

My favorite comment is the one about the yelling, which came up with us too. Will someone think of the children!? Football players should be hugged when they succeed, not yelled at when they don't.

interestingly, my little girl said something along these lines when we were at the UMass game.

To be fair, that BC game was abysmal. Yes, ND overreacts after every game, but I also think that the fans are freaking out because this team still has quite a bit of talent yet still looks lost out there - UM's defense struggled because of a lack of talent, but ND is loaded with guru-approved talent that still gets lit up almost every week.
But as noted earlier, Florida must be freaking out right now. That defense is NC-caliber, but the offense looks lost out there. I figured they would struggle with the loss of Tebow, but not to this level.

Herbie said on ESPN radio that when he broke down film of Notre Dame v. Stanford, Notre Dame looked like a "high school defense" because of the total lack of speed.
He usually isn't one to deal so harshly. Tells you how bad it is.

I never knew ND fans overreact win or lose. Irish fans have educated me on so many things over the years. Jimmy Clausen will win a heismen, Charlie Weis was the only reason Tom Brady won all those Super Bowls and of course... return to glory now that Bob Davie is hired, return to glory now that Ty Willingham has been hired, return to glory now that George O'Leary has been hired...oh, he's been fired after 2 weeks? O.K., return to glory now that Charlie Weis has been hired. And so on. This has got to be the minority of ND fans. Because they're usually too busy kissing their own asses to figure out what's actually wrong with their team.
And Florida? They should never have been ranked that high to start the season. They have some great talent on defense but you knew their offense was going to get exposed once they finally played a quality opponent. I'm going to throw up if Nick Saban goes undefeated again, though. But who is going to challenge Bama? The SEC from top to bottom does not look as strong as they have been in past years.

Anyone else think those threads formatting are reminiscent of the 90s? They really are trying to hold onto the past.

Coaches shouldn't yell at players... wait, what?
October 3rd, 2010 at 12:42 PM ^
I'm always conflicted when Urban Meyer faces Nick Saban. Two pompous asses enter. only one leaves.
October 3rd, 2010 at 1:26 PM ^
Eh, I think two pompus asses still leave. Three or four if you include the CBS announcers.

That board is fascinating. Almost any other team's message board will generally be pro-coach, with a few dissenters. NDNation is reflexively anti-Kelly and parses everything he says and does to find something incriminating. It's great stuff. Even funnier is that they are adamantly convinced that Saban or Stoops would have taken the job, if only those meddling ND administrators hadn't mucked things up.
October 3rd, 2010 at 2:08 PM ^
but Saban was never going there. An I'd personally rather have Kelly than Stoops. I can't belive they're not even giving him a chance. Never thought I'd say this, but reading that board they're worse than Michigan fans were RR's first year.
October 3rd, 2010 at 2:41 PM ^
Saban was never going there
Yes, that's kind of what makes it funny.
October 3rd, 2010 at 2:43 PM ^
Urban Meyer was never going to go there either yet for some reason, they think he was very interested in the job.

Ten of these games strung together as wins would still add up to nothing. Leaving it on ESPN3 would have been the right call. "At least we didn't lose". When it has finally down to that, dead inside is the best we can ever feel. In order to conserve energy and save money, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off.
Wow, so angry. Maybe if Michigan went through 15 years of its current struggles, I'd be like that too--but I'd probably quit commenting first.
In related news, the weekly check for Damefan1's YouTube post came up negative. He quits after the first loss each time.

"yes - it was like drunk sex
sloppy, sometimes fun, but overall not really memorable."
but it was still sex....a win is a win ; )

It's funny that they thought that it was all Weis and and as soon as he left the dark cloud over Notre Dame football would be lifted and Jesus would come from the heavens to play running back for them.

ND should be thrilled with anything positive after the jailsexing they took against Stanford.
