If every state had one vote,…

If every state had one vote, then the good guys will win 35-15.

This is going to be my prediction for the game.

Looks like a mobile QB. 62%…

Looks like a mobile QB. 62% completion - so not too shabby in the accuracy dept either. Had some interceptions Soph year but they are down significantly in the Jr year.

Release is a little wonky. I imagine good coaching can take care of it.

Great pickup. Not a five star - but a great College QB.

How can any list of Michigan

How can any list of Michigan Kickers be complete without Kicking Competency Lopata??

He was not the flashiest - but was dependable, reliable - and Brian gave him a kickass name!

I loved Rogue One for all the

I loved Rogue One for all the usual reasons. The one atypical reason is that I loved the fact that this movie had the most diverse cast  I have seen in a major studio movie - ever. Specifically, Riz Ahmad (from Four Lions - a must watch) and the Ip Man guy.

Ah well... I am the

Ah well... I am the instructor for the class - TO300 Business Information Systems is a core class in Ross undergraduate curriculum.. We discuss the Kickstarter campaign for the Hail to the Victors book as part of class discussion on how small businesses are leveraging social media.

The fact that OP started the thread while the class was in progress is a little disturbing though :-)

Yes I have conciously decided

Yes I have conciously decided to tone down my involvement. Last night I kept waking up with the deep throw to Robinson (one with Stribling guarding him) playing in my head. This level of distress over something I have no control over is clearly unhealthy. So I have made a simple decision - I will still be involved in Michigan atheletics - but I will not watch live. I will record all games and will make a decision post-result whether I want to watch it. I hope this will lead to a more calmer association with Michigan sports.

Calcutta Laundry?? As someone

Calcutta Laundry?? As someone who has been to Calcutta several times, this makes no sense to me. A quick googling did not resolve the issue. Any pointers?

I believe Braden was

I believe Braden was challenging for a Guard spot, not Tackle. Magnusson has been ahead of Braden for the Tackle position - and now that Braden could not get ahead of Glasgow or Bryant for the Guard position - he is clearly not as much a contender for playing time as Magnusson is.

20-50 times is not excessive.

20-50 times is not excessive. The beauty of DVR with the 30-second-back button is that it does not take long. There are so many moving pieces that one probably needs that many viewings to figure out much of what is going on.

I am sure Brian watches key plays 20 times or more for the UFRs.

Kalis not Kugler. For a

Kalis not Kugler. For a minute I was worried a bit - it is not this coaching staff's style to burn redshirts of OL. Even last year when we were really hurting on OL, we preserved every single RS.

Its good to see Magnuson out there. We will need him next year - its good that he seems to be panning out. We need another OT to show up strong and we will be pretty well positioned on the OL for several years to come.

I second this. Berthillon is

I second this. Berthillon is great. More than the ice cream though its just the general vibe of this area. Go there late at night, get a table outside and see the world pass by.

As far as cafes go, there are couple very popular ones on Blvd. St. Germain. There are some awesome street foods in the Blvd. St. Michel There are to two Moaz outlets in there with excellent Felafels - among the best vegetarian food your will find anywhere.

Of course we are all reading

Of course we are all reading too much - but my takeaway is that as long as what we see on early video is not overtly negative (e.g. interceptions, stuffed runs, edge issues) - its fine. I don't see much to be concerned with right now. We have depth issues at lines and those are being addressed, we have TE talent/depth issues and those are being addressed as well. The established pieces (QB, RB, DBs) are working as well as they did last season - so overall - we are good. Spring can continue to get better.

Nice. Stuff I loved:

Nice. Stuff I loved:

1. Throw on the run by DG. He has some arm!

2. Option run by Denard. Old magic continues!

3. Snaps not being fumbled (one was a little awry - but okay). C position is fine!

4. Rawls - once he has momentum, he breaks tackles.

Need moar of these... Sept is so far away.

It is not "ominous" - we tend

It is not "ominous" - we tend to read too much into every word out of coach's mouth. Bryant is a rFr - he will be part of the rotation - he may not win his position outright at the spring ball right after his redshirt freshman season.

Yay - Now eagerly waiting my

Yay - Now eagerly waiting my street-cred-establishing-T-Shirt and my intellectually-stimulative-handsigned-HTTV. Awesome!

I don't mind DG taking some

I don't mind DG taking some snaps at WR as long as it is part of specific packages and not a complete position shift. DG is a great dual-threat-QB talent and he should be developed as such.

I remember T. Pryor catching ball for a TD. Tall backup QBs could have a role as a surprise WR.

BTW - Any news on DG's redshirt status?

All three scholarship players

All three scholarship players are significant losses. We needed Khoury for depth at C, Robinson was contributing on special teams, Cox was providing depth at RB and as could have been useful on special teams. It would have been better for the team if they had stuck around - but they are graduating and since it is unlikely that they have a future in pro-football, it makes sense for them to start with their post-football lives.

Best of luck to all of them.

If not an offer, the kid

If not an offer, the kid should surely have received enough interest from Ohio to keep him engaged at this point in the recruiting cycle given the pedigree. We don't know whether McCray did or did not receive enough interest from Meyer - but it is pretty good for us if he is going after national talent and making things easier for us to pick midwest talent.

Great pickup. I have added M.

Great pickup. I have added M. McCray II to 'Depth Chart by Class" as an SLB. We are thin at SLB - so the positioning makes sense.

By all accounts Miller is

By all accounts Miller is doing well and Khoury will be a fine breather. So barring injury we might be able to squeak through this season. After this season - we are all good.

We need to make sure that we

We need to make sure that we don't burn too many redshirts out of this OL group. Considering last year's haul, we should be able to readshirt everyone except Kugler - if Khoury is not adequate in supporting Jack Miller.

Center needs to be really

Center needs to be really technical. Kugler fits. We are done for OL this year.

Projected RedShirts

It would be helpful to show which Fr players are projected to redshirt - may be a @ after the name? We can then update the projections as players burn their redshirts in maddeningly unanticipitated ways.

It's awesome! This shoud be a

It's awesome! This shoud be a required reading in Stats courses!

The key is to come out strong

The key is to come out strong and put Ohio in a two score hole so that they are forced to pass. After that it is a sack-fest. If Ohio feels comfortable with the clock and continues running - then we open ourselves up to long runs by Miller/Boom. Our best bet is to sell out against the run, take out Posey with bracket coverage and let Miller float interceptions/incompletions against an aggressive zone blitz attack.

Home crowd will be the key. Shugart is false-starting at key moments - need to put them under pressure right away. The longer they hang around, the more confidence they will gain.

I know Michigan fans are

I know Michigan fans are supposed to be "arrogant" - but I think we, as a fanbase, are quite reasonable and well behaved. Although I am sure there are enough stupid sentient beings as well.

Just based on my casual interaction with people, Ohio fans come across as abrasive/drugged/drunk, Spartans always behave true to the inferiority complex, Badgers are quite self absorbed (in a good way, don't much care for the rest of the world, except Minnesota), Northwestern behaves true to a superiority complex (academics). Have not come across enough of other fan bases in Chicagoland area. Just my personal impressions.

MSM recognition for our Mathlete and a linky think for MGoBlog as well. Awesome. Congratulations Brett Thiessen aka Mathlete!

Classic!

Excellent work BlueSeoul. You are on the verge of taking over the title of the most anticipated mid-week content. Weds especially are awesome with FFFF, You and UFR-D - and this week TWIS also!

Even a hobbled Persa is

Even a hobbled Persa is better than Lindley I think. He is pretty accurate and he only needs to use his legs to find extra time in pocket. Ebert though is not on the same level as Floyd (who is?). Loss of Trumpy does not make their offense one dimensional - they have capable backups and the backup QB is a good runner as well. I think they will provide a good test of our defense.

Yup - its good for the coming

Yup - its good for the coming Saturday. What is unfortunate is that just last year that was us.

Nothing is making me more positive about the future of Hoke-Mattison-Borges regime than the improvement in defense.

I believe its the opposite,

I believe its the opposite, they have a much better pass attack than run (especially if Persa is not 100%). The outrage in blogosphere after the IL game is mainly because they did not use their passing game enough and went to run for killing clock which was ineffective.

Ohio State != Cartman.

Awesome

Pretty awesome - I hate it when I can' figure out which number is which player. Now I have the handy reference. Thanks - please keep doing this for the rest of the schedule.

Lowest Yards Allowed?

I have not been able to cofirm this - but 236 yards allowed could also be lowest yards allowed in a quite some time. Last significant barrier again seems ND 2007 - 79 total yards!

Personnel vs Scheme

Makes sense to me. You turn your head if you have the speed to stay with the receiver and can afford the split second head turn. If you are hanging on for dear life to not give away two steps of separation and hence the TD, then you forget about the ball and stick to WR's chest and raise your hands when he does.

ND tried to do this too (GG hardly ever looked back) - however - this is when the underthrown ball helps - its easier to stick to the WR in straight line run, much harder when the WR makes an abrupt stop for the underthrown ball. Herbie might have been right about the underthrown balls being intentional.

I hope they will not change

I hope they will not change the scheme "radically". Last two years, the bye week radical adjustments have been killer (aarggghhh the Penn State game /aargghhh). I guess they will try some personnel shifts, include new wrinkles but hopefully refrain from making wholesale changes.

I Am Encouraged

Overall I can't say I am not pleasantly surprised by this year's defense so far. We have faced two very good offenses and have done enough to keep things within reach of our offense. We really can't expect much more than that.

Plus - if this is the baseline and we will improve from there then we will be in pretty good shape. Playmakers are emerging - Hawthorne, BWMFC, Ryan; established players are holding their own - MM, RVB, Demens, Kovacs - and players regressing have capable backups - Roh. If we take BG out of the equation - this will clearly be the best defense of post-Carr era. Thats not saying much really - but that would be sufficient and exceed expectation this year.

Awesome

Stevie Brown = Bet Over Wins!!!

Pure Gold.

Defense RPS

I think defense still lacks pieces to completely counter someone like Floyd with just personnel matchups. So they need to take some risks in defensive alignment - sometime they work (the Kovacs interception) and sometimes they don't (last TD, MM dropping back). However, I am all for it because that makes the defense high variance - and you need a high variance defense to stop drives when you don't have personnel.

When you have low variance defense AND no personnel - then you get the Illinois game of last year - sustained drives after drives. This way we will give an occasional big play but we will also kill drives. Now, it is up to the offense to use those opportunities when we do manage to kill drives.

Interesting. This is a

Interesting. This is a Michigan sports blog, Freep has done malicious, ambush reporting on Michigan sports, hence it is in our best interest to discourage our very popular platform to channel clicks (and hence revenue) to the said malicious entity.

It has nothing to do with freedom. People are free to post links to Freep - as I am free to show my displeasure at it - as you are free to argue that people are not illiterarte hence it is fine. I am just saying you are wrong and OP could have created the same discussion without providing reveue to parties who do not have our best interest at heart.

I love these picture pages -

I love these picture pages - here, at BWS and also TTB. For somebody who grew up in football is round world, I have learnt more about football from these posts than everything else combined (including Football for Dummies, one of the first books I read after landing in this country :-)

I do share the optimism regarding the D-coaches. It also helps that we returned much of the defense from last year - so they are no longer bumbling, underdeveloped true Fr. I am sure there will be defensive lapses in ND game tomorrow but the defense will also contribute by killing drives and/or creating turnovers - both of which were so sorely missing last three years.

Strength of Schedule

That year is already crazy - lets not try to fit in another stiff opponent. Playing full speed evert Sat is hard - playing it against top competition is something you can only do for so long before breaking down. We need our guys fresher - we have enough SoS rest of the year - get a MAC team and be done with it.

Head Coach Hire

Based on limited information, I think Indiana got a nice HC - a proven offensive commodity with midwest roots. I am not sure about the credibility of his DC - but if that works out then Indiana may have some hope of not being perennial cellar dwellers.

PAC 10/12 Commissioner

The Pac 10/12 Commissioner seems to be a smart guy. He almost had the coup in the last re-alignment round, managed to get two decent teams and a championship game and now this TV contract. Thats a good run.

I am surprised that conferences are getting locked into multi year contracts rather than pursusing BTN type arrangements when BTN has now been shown to be quite a success.

Destiny

I keep thinking how circumstances outside one's control shape the outcome. Hoke has everything going right - all the way up to OSU's pojected implosion. RR never got any breaks. I am sure RR did enough things wrong too - but it seems like the Universe just wasn't in favor of him at UM while Hoke seems to be had a full swig of Felix Felicis. I am not complaining - anything that helps UM win is fine by me.
