Interesting Picture Pages on NW Blog

Its a good read about the 50 yard TD completion by IL at the start of the 4th Q.

http://www.sippinonpurple.com/2011/10/3/2465420/play-of-the-week-aint-sa...

What I found interesting was the first picture - its 2nd and 2 and what is notable is the 10 yards cushion available to WRs - a free 1st down if you will.

Unfortunately, it remind me so much of our defense last year.

Finally at 500+ MGoPoints - Now I can actively maintain my two favorite pages - Depth Chart by Class and Unofficial Two Deep.

Wow...it wouldn't be too difficult to check to a three yard hitch on the outside WR's.  Then again, on second and two, it it usually a "go deep" down, especially on the 50 yard line and in.

I'd be interested to see what type of cusion is given up on third downs.

wow, a quick throw to either receiver and you get an auto 5yds if not more. That is way too much cushion on a 2nd and 2.

After reading the author's last little bit about Michigan, I really don't think he has a firm grasp on what our offense actually is. "Jump ball offense"? But that's alright, I forgive him. Mostly because I don't think many know (including myself) exactly what our offense is refining itself into at this point. But it sure ain't jump balls galore anymore.

However, considering the lack of West Coast principles on display as of right now, I would like to suggest we call it the Spread 'n Coast.

Of course I made up 'Nardball...but only because I haven't heard anyone else call it anything different.  Elements of Spread, manball and gotcha...

Also interesting is that Minnesota basically did this against USC because they could not cover anyone, http://mgoblog.com/content/preview-minnesota-2011. We were able to exploit that with short passes that got Denard comfortable and in a rhythm. I fully expect to see some of that again this Saturday.
