How about the outstanding M sportsmanship
Handing the ball to the refs after big plays. Not doing the stupid celebrations. Did you see how our players handled Denard's final touchdown? They talked to each other and walked off the field. If ever there was a moment to go nuts in celebration that was it, but they were as classy as can be. I'm proud. Kudos to RichRod, the coaching staff, and the players for doing it the Michigan way.

but I hate celebration penalties and would go nuts if Denard were to sprint a lap around the field after scoring and run up and down the steps of the stadium a couple times.

...a gust of wind swirled around the stadium between the time Denard scored and the time he knelt in prayer. That wind, of course, was Denard sprinting a celebratory lap around the stadium and up and down the stairs. You can't flag what you can't see.

I blinked twice.
Thanks for clearing that up.

There are now so many rules about celebrating and extra curricular stuff that as a coach, do you have to spend valuable practice time teaching kids not to go crazy when they make a good play?

Acting like you've been there before is a good thing. The constant celebrating by the ND defense after stopping Denard or Shaw for a 3 or 4 yard gainer was getting a tad annoying.
September 12th, 2010 at 12:11 PM ^
where Roundtree got planted by the ND defender as soon as the ball got to him, but held on for the first down catch, and the ND guy gets up and starts woofing standing over Roundtree. Umm.....it was a first down completion. You failed at your job.

Could not agree more.
There was a few times on 1st and 10 where we gained like 5 yards and ND defenders we're celebrating like crazy.
That's why no one likes Notre Dame.

BooBoo's trademark move.

I completely agree. I was at the game. If I wasn't paying attention at a moment and I heard a decent amount of cheering I assumed something went wrong, like maybe a stop at the line of scrimmage or loss of a yard. Nope it was a 3-4 yard run a lot of times and the crowd seemed so excited about it.
Another annoying thing? The announcer continuously calling Roy Roundtree "JT Floyd". I get that they have the same number but come on. Though it would be cool if we could get another CB that also makes a great WR like Woodson.

Can you blame them for celebrating when they give up 5 yards to Denard after what he's done to them. I would have expected them to celebrate as long as Denard didnt rip them for a TD. Denard was just that good.

WIth the exception of the late-hit penalties...
September 12th, 2010 at 3:03 PM ^
Yes, because Cullen Christian diving at Michael Floyd while inbounds and ending up tripping him out of bounds shows poor sportsmanship...

compare Denard kneeling for a little prayer and giving the ball to the ref with Terrell Pryor beating hs chest and holding up his arms in a "V" with his back to all of his teammates while they were trying to celebrate his rushing touchdown with him.

Ordinarily I'd say hurr durr don't overblow it we're not that special, but I totally agree. This team is ALL CLASS, for real

This is something it seems that Coach Rod has really stressed since he got here, and I'm a big fan of it. Especially when you compare it to ND's dumbass player who dropped the ball before he even got into the endzone.

I enjoyed how during or after the game the dumbass announcers said.. "Now i really like this Tate kid, hes unreal.. i was like wtf..

Look at the first series for nd when Crist made that one decent run. Before he even stood up, he did a toss/spin of the ball forward and looked towards the MICHIGAN stands as if he had scored.
Later, Floyd of nd after a catch threw the ball in to the back of Mouton.
Both of these should have been unsportsmanlike calls (and of course the infamous NON-TD), but in the end, MICHIGAN got the W.
I like the way these guys operate. Kudos to the coaching staff.

The biggest piece of sportsmanship I saw came after the win. Denard completely ignored the cameras and reporters and headed straight to Te'o to give him a big hug and congratulate him for playing so well.
September 12th, 2010 at 3:54 PM ^
Also last week right after the UConn game was over, Denard pretty much sprinted over to Dwayne Difton and gave him a big hug. I'm assuming they're friends from back home since Difton is from Ft. Lauderdale. Denard seems like a nice kid.

Maybe in time Kelly can tone down the Weisian douchitude that seems prevalent on ND. The TV showed he and RichRod chatting before the game and they seemed really friendly with each other.

I love when Denard throws a touchdown pass and he's the first one to the endzone to congratulate.
